Litter Box Problem -- Female Cat |
|
:scared: My female cat (1 1/2 years old) seems to be urinating against the wall and it is collecting under the litter box. I keep both boxes (I have two females) against the wall in my basement. The cat doing this is my newest--got her on May 1. Does anybody have any advice for me? She does not do this all the time--and whenever I observe her using the box she uses it normally. But I can see where the back of the box has urine dripping down inside sometimes, and there is urine under the box. Has this ever happened to anyone else? HELP...

1. I've had this problem. I just put up a trash bag behind and under the box |

I keep clorox wipes by the box. You might try a bigger box as well. I have 1 very large male that has that problem and I got him the king size box and he doesn't have the problem so much anymore

2. Have you tried using a covered box? |

If your girls can't adjust to using one, I agree with the other poster who recommended putting up plastic.
It could be a mood thing with her, or maybe she just isn't careful with placement of her back end when she pees. Some cats urinate outside the box when they have a URI, but since she doesn't do this all the time she probably doesn't have one.
All of our boxes are covered, but one of my females is sometimes careless. She points her back end toward the hole in the box, and pees onto the floor mat we put outside the box to catch extra litter. One of our males used to do the same thing. He'd walk into the box and let 'er rip without bothering to turn around. I don't think he ever realized that he was peeing outside the box.
