Hey Bird-brains...I need a little help with a question!
I have a black-masked lovebird, several finches, a quaker, and a blue-headed Pionus parrot. We have cages all over the living room. I just wanted to make sure people knew I had birds and was being cute with the "bird-brain" quip. :)

OK...here is the question. I just got a sonic breeze machine (to clear up the air) and I really wanted one. But, I thought I had read some where that you can't use that machine around birds. Does anyone know anything about this? I would love to clear up the smells in the house, but I don't want to hurt or kill my pets! Any help would be appreciated! (BTW...I have looked at various sites for all the birds I have mentioned and seen nothing, except warnings about Teflon (which this product does not have).)

Thanks again!

1. For online help, try this site...
http://chats.upatsix.com/

You will find some great information here.
Warning...can be addictive!
I use a enviracare HEPA air cleaner by Honeywell. It sits right next to the cage. Unfortunately, I don't have any information on your particular machine.

Oh, and you know not to get your carpets scotch guarded, right?

3. Thanks y'all!
I appreciate the input! And that one site looks way cool! I am sure I will haunt that place a bit because I have so many birds! Again, thanks for your help!

4. i used to post here a lot
it is a good site, but they used to have a huge archive of past posts. they dumped them a while ago to speed up the server. the search is crummy, but you should still be able to find some discussions about this.
(you can pull up a post, but it won't pull the whole thread.)
there have been a lot of posts about this. if my recollection is correct, the early ones were bad, but most of the newer ones have corrected the problem. sorry i don't really recall the hows and whys.

2. Ionizer
Many years ago when I bought my first birds I bought what was called a negative air ionizer. It plugged into the electric wall fixture and was supposed to help the air in the bird room. I remember it did seem to pull all the dust to the wall where it was plugged in and then I would wipe down the wall. I never had a bird problem while using it. I would like to find out also because I just purchased a unit similar to the Ionic Breeze and wanted to put it in my bird room also. They sure do make dust!
