1. What a great cat!
What a great camera! How did you get him to pose like that?

2. it looks like a calendar picture
He is a very willing poser. He'll sit on the couch and let me snap away, if I rub my fingers he looks up. Right now he's a bit distracted, people in the neighborhood are shooting off firecrackers and bottle rockets. Santa brought me a new Canon 20D, I am just getting familiar with it, but pets and animals are some of my favorite subjects.

3. Oberon is trying to find him
to wish him a happy New Year in return!

That's a GREAT photo-and obviously a really nice camera, too! How many megapixels? I hope you'll post the photo on Catster; it's very professional looking.

4. Lorien, I love your fuzzbutt Oberon
He just makes me laugh so hard when I see his fuzzy belly!! I wish I could make a living taking pet pictures. LOL.

Santa got me a Canon 20D for Xmas, it has 8.0 megapixels. Upgraded from a nice little point and shoot Fuji that had about 3megapixels. I haven't even begun to scratch the surface with it yet, been too distracted by my horrendous upcoming move, but I think the worst is over until Weds. when I drive the Daemon westward ho!

The cool thing for taking pet pix is the Canon has a setting called al servo and it snaps off about 5 pictures super fast. So with the cat at least one of them is bound to be a hoot. And he is such a willing subject, especially when he is zenning on the back of the couch.

I actually just made this photo my new primary on Catster. Can't wait to see more pix of Mr. O.

5. 8 megapixels? WHOA
I LOVE the idea of shooting off several shots at once. It drives me NUTS that my Nikon Coolpix takes 5-10 seconds to download a shot-I've missed a lot of great shots because of that. Oberon and Puck love the camera too (totally unlike Miro and my late Peewee, who seemed convinced that the contraption could eat your soul). How big is the camera, and is it incredibly expensive? My dad has a Canon 6 megapixel that's the same size as his regular Nikon FE2 35mm. It takes beautiful shots.

Please share more when you take them! :hi:

6. It wasn't cheap.
And it took me a bit of looking to find it, it was sold out everywhere before Xmas. And what the non-authorized Canon dealers are doing is chopping up the kits and selling items separately -- they lure you in with a cheapo price on the body and then jack the price of everything else up to make you think you are getting a bargain. I got mine as a complete kit from Adorama in NYC (www.adorama.com) From what I hear only Adorama and B&H in NYC are licensed dealers. I got the kit for $1599, and they gave me 1/2 price on a bunch of goodies, like a 1G CF card, and extra battery pack, etc. Whole thing was about $1900.

So far I love it, but it is a huge step up from my point and shoot. I have been taking photos since I was knee high to a grasshopper, my grandfather made sure I had a Kodak brownie as a 7yr old. But man, these new digital SLRs really rock the house!
