New write up for our adoptable dog Bruno
We have fostered Bruno in the past and he's now with another volunteer to give him a change of scenery. We decided to redo his writeup on our website to more accurately reflect his heritage.

Bruno

Breed: English Pointer mix
Gender: Male (Neutered)
DOB: 9/2004

After a great deal of research and discussion, we have come to the conclusion that Bruno is an English Pointer/Raccoon mix. We can discern the subtle differences between the breeds. From the neck back, Bruno gives every appearance of being a dog. He even likes to run around the yard and observe squirrels. From the neck up we can still see a dog-like face shape. But the markings are clearly those of a raccoon. If you compare the eye markings of a raccoon with those of Bruno, there can be no mistaking. He is obviously a 'coon mix.

Bruno has been seen on occasion barking to a neighbor raccoon. While the raccoon did not stop and further the discussion, we do believe communication did occur. Bruno is clearly bi-lingual.

Bruno has been through basic obedience classes with Sylvie's K9 Solutions. We're currently looking for training programs for the 'coon side, though. We believe in training to the breed, so to speak!

Bruno has a few gender identity issues he is slowly working out. He has a very strong mothering instinct, so he's the perfect babysitter for our little puppies! He'll roll on the ground so they can attack him more easily! He is always there to break up disturbances among the dogs and to keep a watchful eye on his foster mom.

Bruno is looking for a home with a large fenced yard where he can while away his afternoons lounging by, well, do you have a pool? He's quite intelligent and enjoys learning- particularly the part where you give him a treat. We'd like to see him go to a family with dog experience. If you have experience with raccoons, that will be helpful as well!

Post pics showing him playing with the puppies on your website! That would show him off to great advantage, IMHO.

My only thought about him - because I know you have had him for a while - is that Bruno is kind of a 'tough dog' name. If his people don't arrive soon to claim him you might try changing his name to something softer that starts with a "b." Barkley, Barnabe, Barney, Bart, Basil, Bassett, Bean, Brody, Buddy, Bear, Benji, Benny...

For all I know the person who will eventually want him will be a 22-year-old single male who desperately wants a dog named Bruno?

2. that's a great idea. I honestly hadn't thought of changing his name.
Maybe Rocky, in honor of the racoon in his pedigree?
