our foster greyhound may be getting adopted
got a call last night from the greyhound organization

someone is interested in adopting Linda! Going to meet them tomorrow at Meet-Greet event (Petco in Wilkes-Barre)

If all goes well - Linda should be in a new home within a week or so

1. Excellent
Doesn't it make you feel good when you find a home for your foster furkid?

2. this will be #4 for us
our first one, Mint was adopted, new family got divorced couldn't take her with them -- we adopted her

second one was Ibuprofen (Boo) -- the hound from hell. Had a wild time with him, but he's doing well in his new home

#3 was Abeline, a real sweetie-pie

and now #4 is Linda -- keeping our fingers crossed for her

3. You're good dog cat (people)
Not everyone can adopt a grayhound. I've never been familiar with one on a loving basis, but I appreciate your efforts to loving place dogs of this breed.

All dogs and cats of all breeds and mongrollery are wonderful and I applaud anyone's efforts to love and adopt any of them.

4. I had met a couple of retired racers previous to our adopting one
they can appear to be standoffish and aloof. Not the kind of dog that licks you all over.

mainly this has to do with their upbringing/handling. The greyhound adoption organization I'm involved with did get in a younger dog at one point. She was about 9 months old, had an injury to her leg which left her unacceptable for racing. This one was a real "licker" and wiggle-butt.

We've had Sunny for 2 years now, he was "aloof" for a few months - but now we get the big barks, waggy tails when we come home from work. Mint was a big moosh from the beginning, we were told the people who raced her spend alot of time with their greyhounds giving them lovies.

Our current foster - Linda, was pretty shy at first. She never raced. Now she's one big baby, loves butt scratches, ear rubs and foot massages.

5. looks like Linda has a new home
I met the propective family on Saturday. They are very nice and quite taken with Linda.

If things can get coordinated - she will be in her new home as early as this week!!!

6. That is wonderful news!! Bless you for helping the greyhounds.
My wife won't let me foster because she knows that I will keep every dog I bring home.

I think she is right.
