Repost of Kitty in the TUB******
I originally posted this in The Lounge, but this is a better forum for these pictures. I was previously unaware of this group, but will now be a regular visitor.

Like most cats, Bug is fascinated with the bathroom and anything that happens in that room. He typically performs a surefooted balancing act on the rim of the Tub whenever someone is relaxing in the warm bubbles. He is astounded and bewildered that a mammel would voluntarily submerge themselves in WATER, and he insists on close up observation of the entire process.

I've wanted to document his bathtub balancing performance, and used this opportunity to experiment with a new digital camera and flash (still experimenting). He has NEVER fallen in....until now.

"If I can only get my hind foot on that nozzle thingy...."

He was only mildly distressed, and quickly jumped out and ran to his warm place to dry out and fix his fur.

I paniced worse than than he did, fearing that he would shread me in a mad scramble to get out of the WET WATER. My instincts for self preservation trumped the Photographers Credo to Keep Shooting No Matter What, so I missed some good shots.

8. What an adorable kitty! And very curious, LOL!
Poor kitty! My friend's cat walks in the edge of the tub like yours does and she has the same fears as you do, getting shredded, LOL! Thank you for sharing this amazing photo essay!:D

And I also love the quote!:D

9. That is great!
Ooh! A photopictorial!

Bug looks a bit like our Molly (she's greyer). We have a jacuzzi tub with steps going up to the edge.

Molly climbs the steps and gets right up next to it, batting at the bubbles when I take bubble baths.

reprehensor turned on the jacuzzi once when she and I were both sitting there, and she jumped about 10 feet in the air. It was hilarious.

One of her favorite things is to take her jingle ball into the empty tub and bat it around. Kind of like roller derby or something.

And she also likes to sit on a corner of the tub like Bug. Then she gets in it after we're done and licks all the water out.

Bug's a cutie! Poor bedraggled baby!

10. Is your cat a Maine Coon? He looks like it.

Maine Coons like to play with water.

Edit: yes, my tub is grody.

11. Don't know.

Adopted him from the shelter a little over a year ago. The litter had been abandoned. There was a big pile of 6 week old kittens, and he was the messiest and crankiest. His first nickname was cowlick because his fur went in all different directions.

Others have commented that he looks like a Maine Coon, and from what I've read, he has the characteristic temperament, but its anybody's guess.

He IS fascinated by water, and will very gently pat the water surface, but he doesn't like to get ANY on him, not a single drop.

Love your kitty. Pure black?

12. Sounds like Olaf
Edited on Sun Jan-09-05 01:25 AM by Pikku
He will knock over any glass of liquid I happen to leave sitting around the house. He screams bloody murder if he gets a drop of water on himself, though.

I got Olaf from a rescue shelter, so I don't know anything about his pedigree. But evidence suggests a Maine Coon ancestry. He's got the fur, including the furry paws. He's huge, at 12 pounds, with a tiny squeaky meow. He follows me around the house, being sure to sit on any important paper I'm reading.

So, although I can't show him as an exemplar of his breed, I'm sure that he is mostly a coon at heart.
