Teddie's 2 favorite things: Snow and Crashing
Since I got this digital camera, Teddie has been my main model as I learn to use the thing. So here are two more pics representing Teddie's two favorite activities.

During the big snow storm last weekend, Teddie begged and begged to be able to go out in the snow several times. He also kept me company while I shoveled. Here he is coming up for air after a "snow dive":

And during the day while the family is at work and school, Teddie climbs onto the couch and sleeps. This has gotten him into a daily rythm, whereby on weekdays he is pretty much comatose from 9 to 5. Oddly, on the weekend he "knows" we are home and doesn't get as sleepy.

But on this weekend day, someone left a pillow on the couch and Teddie couldn't resist crashing on it. Even though his eyes are open, when he is in "coma" mode, he can't really rouse himself:

3. Thanks! But I have to post another pic, because
I noticed that none of the pics I posted so far show how really goofy he is. He isn't "smiling" in the three pics I have posted, which is the way he usually looks. So Here is Teddie's typical expression (a little out of focus):

2. Teddy Knows its a weekend
Isn't it amazing how they know we aren't going to work/school ? It may be a subtle change in the morning routine - maybe just lingering over the morning paper with my coffee or making scrambled eggs . But if I am still sticking to my morning "get ready to get out of the house" routine, when they see me put on jeans they know they can come with.

4. That's eerie, and also that the seem to know when we are coming home ...
whether one schedule or not. Maybe they can pick out the sound of the car engine from far away? But he does this even when any of us come home by bus on foot.

5. Mine know when I am coming home too.
My son lived with me last year while he was between colleges. He said that the dogs went to the window every day at the time they expected me home. I was driving from the train station, so its possible that they heard my car engine from a block or so away - but I think they can tell time. Except when it would be helpful like this AM when I overslept by an hour and they could have woken me up on time !!

6. He is beautiful! I miss my golden named Ben so very much!
Edited on Fri Feb-17-06 02:17 PM by CottonBear
He was my best buddy and frisbee partner! He had a Nylabone frisbee that he carried with him everywhere (even to bed!) He could hold it and bark at the same time! I remember a snowfall and I let Ben out and he made dog snow angels everywhere! Goldens are so happy!

Teddie is wonderful! You're so lucky!

8. Many years ago. He died when he was 10. He was pedigreed.
His name was Big Ben 17th.

Ben belonged to me and my ex-husband. My ex abused me and one day I had to leave him with nothing more than what I had in my car. (I later was able to get most of my belongings with the help of a friend and a sheriffs deputy but that's another long story.) My ex took our white shepherd Maggie, Ben and my two cats, Jesse and Midnight Kitty, away from me and hid them and refused to let me see them or have them and I never saw them ever again. Apparently, Ben died of cancer about a year after I left. I'll never forgive that man for what he did to me by taking my pets.

12. What a horrible story ...
Your ex sounds like ... well, I'd better not say. But I'm so sorry for your loss and the way you lost your dog and cats.

16. Thank you.
My ex was very ill (physically and mentally) but he apparently took good care of our pets. Even he, in his madness, could not be mean to innocent animals.

I had friends who saw them after we divorced. I don't know what ultimately happened to my kitties but I hope and pray they were OK. I know they were in my heart. At the time, if I had tried to get them, the ex would have gone totally nuts. I felt it was better for me and my pets to be safe in different safe places than for us all to be in danger. It was the hardest thing I've ever done, but I had to secure my own safety.

Years later, I adopted a little feral tabby cat that lookd like my first tabby cat. Now, we (mr. CB & I) have 3 cats and a horse and goldfish (5 years in the pond and they're still growing and swimming!)

Can I say again: Your Teddy is beautiful! Goldens are the best! I love his big paws!

Peace. CB

13. What an adorable dog!
It's funny about pets how they sleep when we are away, and they stay awake if we're home. Pad Thai is always awake if I'm home, at least until the natural nocturnal nature cats have takes complete control. We are their whole world, you know.

I love the second pic. God, I gotta get a camera soon. My Sami's a 3 year old Chow/Lab mix, Tigger's a 4 year old Almond tabby and Angel is a snow white 7 month old long hair. GOD, I gotta buy a camera.
