Has anyone ever used pet health insurance? |
|
We want to change vets to someone local, and the kitties have insurance through Banfield right now (he was the closest vet when we needed one, but now he's inconveniently far away, doesn't have night hours, and neither cat is too enthusiastic about the long car trip.)
We'd like to reinsure them, so we're looking for references. We currently pay about $60 a month for two cats, both over 10 years old and in excellent health. Their insurance includes dental coverage.
Should we just stick with what we have, or be looking elsewhere?

1. I have health insurance and I'm quite happy with it. |

I pay $41 a month for one dog and it is premium insurance. But I think you should stick with your current insurance because most companies won't insure a pet over a certain age. I don't know about cats, but the company I use won't insure dogs over the age of 7.

I was on the basic plan at petcare insurance. Less than $10 a month. When my dog got pancreatic cancer, my vet bills totaled about $3000. The insurance paid for more than half. I was so glad I had it. If I didn't, I would have had the added stress of trying to pay vet bills I couldn't afford. Petcare paid my claims really quickly, too. I was very pleased with them.
