So what can I feed my two furry pals now that I know Nutro is a repug

They both absolutely love their Nutro canned food (it's little cutlets of fish or chicken in a gravy, it looks pretty darned tasty to me even).

So, what is similar (in price and quality) that I can give them?

I want something super nutritious for them (like I say, they both love Nutro, and they're both healthy as can be with excellent coats, no furballs, etc.).

Any ideas?

1. There are MANY brands that are superior

Mine were on Nutro too for a while, until I researched feline nutrition and found out what was really in Nutro and other "premium" cat foods. I asked my cat sitter about alternatives and she pointed me to www.pookiesbowwowbakery.com (they have a retail store in town). All of their products are made of USDA human grade ingredients, many of which are organic. Some brands include: Wellness, Organix, Artemis, Halo, California Natural, Innova, Solid Gold, Active life, Pinnacle..and that's just for starters. Another web source for these products is www.waggintails.com . For dry foods, I recommend Organix or Artemis ( www.artemiscompany.com for retailers) For wet foods, my guys like Wellness (most flavors), Innova, and Solid Gold tuna the best.

On edit; all three of my guys will turn their noses up at Nutro now that they've had the good stuff! :-)

3. Depends on the brand, but it's nowhere

near as pricey as taking your cat to the vet for kidney problem, cancer,urinary tract infections, etc. which many holistic vets believe are caused by the awful ingredients in commercial foods.

I spent $7000 on two sick cats in 2003, so I think it's an excellent investment!

4. Another thought is to look for a formula, such as some of the

Wellness formulas, which "promote good bladder health," especially in the dry foods, since many cats develop chrystals and stones (gosh, sounds so mystical), Since I spent $2000 on a kidney stone pro blem with our cat last year, I also learned the hard way about her diet. Foods which contain cranberry are also something to watch for, because they are usually designed for bladder health.

5. That reminds me; "Evolve" cat food also has

cranberry and is about as available as Wellness (often smaller pet "boutiques" or health food stores carry only two or three brands). I think "Newman's Own" also has cranberry, but my cats like Wellness or Evolve much more.
