My foster dog is doing some really weird scooting behavior
Edited on Mon Apr-17-06 10:02 AM by ehrnst
My new foster Ella, a Boston Terrier mix is fabulous - housetrained from hour one, and learns fast. Here's her petfinder listing:

http://www.petfinder.org/pet.cgi?action=2&pet=6083424&adTarget=&SessionID=4443aa3a15050997-app1&display=&preview=1&row=50&tmpl=&stat=

She does a funny little dance that starts when she

1. sits down on her rump - hind feet in the air in front of her, her front paws straddling her right hind leg, and then

2. she rotates in place, wiggling her hips, like she's on a turntable.

3. After a few revolutions, she stands up - hips still wiggling and humping, and she chases her butt like it's not connected to her...sometimes she repeats the whole sequence a couple of times.

I expressed her anal glands, but she still does this two days later. Now my husband starts singing, "You spin me right round baby, right round, like a record player...." when she does it. I'm ready to smack him.

We've got her initial vet visit scheduled for Thursday, but does anyone have any ideas on what could be going on?

1. Have you checked her stool for worms?
Could she have fleas? That's about all I can thing of that would cause this behavior.

4. Be sure to tell the vet about her behavior
You might not be able to see the worms as the other poster said.

2. Sounds like she needs to be wormed. And not
all worms will show up visually in the stool. Usually you will need to take a sample to the vet for checking.
