I just wanted to let you all know that she went through surgery with flying colors and is almost back to normal. We had a biopsy done and are waiting for that to come back, so please keep up the positive thoughts and prayers. Help, amputation or chemo (cat)? http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=243x17070

She had the surgery on Friday. We picked her up at noon on Saturday. They removed her entire leg up to where it attaches to the torso. I was surprised when I asked about pain management, that the vet said she received a pain shot, that last for three days. She was breathing at a fast rate on Saturday so I assumed that she was in some pain. Her appetite is very good and today she was hopping around on the bed and snuggling, breathing back to normal.
We have her in a small dog pet taxi, which we put between us in our king size bed. We both decided this would be a great weekend to read in bed, so we can keep a close eye on her. I am using old towels as a bedding and replacing with clean when needed.
She is on a antibiotic for seven days and we get the stitches out in ten. I thought all things considered that the total cost was reasonable at around $550.00 and this includes the biopsy which they had to send off.

If she is on antibitics, don't forget to give her some acidophilus to counteract the antibiotic's tendency to upset her stomach and give her diarrhea.
