22. Use whatever graphics program you have..
to check the photo's 'resolution'. Search the help file for the program if you don't know where you can change it. Set it at 72 dpi.
If it's already set at 72 dpi, then check the dimensions of your photos. Most of mine (posted below) are 650 pixels wide.Save a copy of the photo with the lower resolution and/or size for posting purposes.

If you are scanning photos into your computer rather than getting them from a digital camera, you can check that the scanner software is set at a resolution of 72 dpi for the purpose of emailing or posting a photo. (Or, scan them at a higher resolution, then make a smaller copy for posting purposes.

That low level resolution isn't great for printing good quality photos, but it's what you need to post a photo online.

35. Okay, here are mine, all rescue, and all with sad stories
Meneken, my tiny Brussels Griffon. He belonged to a wealthy older lady, who died, and, amazingly, nobody would take this rare little dog. He was threatened, twice, with euthanasia. And he was placed separately from his biological sister, after nine years, and she was the leader, so he's had a rough time. And his eyesight is not the best, but he's my baby, and is almost always with me.

He immediately bonded with my cocker, Sheena, but I lost her six months after I adopted him, despite fighting the good fight. This was another huge blow, for both of us, since I adopted him after I lost my other beloved cocker, the previous year. This odd couple was a perfect match. He loved her so much, and she loved her little acolyte, even though, with his poor eyesight, he'd walk all over her.

So I eventually adopted Sara, because my little guy was not happy as an only dog. I knew she was the right "sister" for him, when he totally went off on her, when they first met, and she just walked away. She was found as a stray, in Ohio, and was scheduled to be gassed, but miraculously found her way to a rescue, here in NY, and found me. My little guy looks to her for leadership, but it's not the same.

And my kitty, Catlin, who I lost last year. She was abandoned by a neighbor who moved and I had to resort to using a "have a heart" trap to finally bring her in, after feeding her outside for four months. Dental surgery transformed her into a wonderful pet, so she must have been in pain. She had been on her own for too long, and was initially very skittish.

And I can never leave out my love and my namesake, Rhiannon, the most remarkable cat I will ever know.

:loveya:

Boots on top of the world, chasing a "mouse"

He got caught, and is trying to get down.

I even caught Boots jumping on top of the shower stall trying to join me for a shower! Is that purr-verted, or does he just want to follow me wherever I go--even in the shower?!

11. Awww...that's a great photo
and I can see the pitbull in her with that view; from straight on it's harder to tell.

Some friends of mine just adopted a puppy that they thought was a boxer, but it turns out that he's probably a pit bull. They were a little worried at first, but I assured them that most of the dogs of that breed that get into trouble just have bad owners. So far, they just love their new puppy!

12. Same here...
I got mine as a shelter rescue, at 10 weeks old, and she is wonderful. Great with other animals, great with people, kids and adults. They are hyper, as most terrier types are, but like any other breed, if raised and socialized well by a loving family, he will be a fine dog. My sister has a large male pit bull, he's 9 years old and has always been gentle as a lamb. She's never had even the slightest problem with him.

13. My neighbor has the sweetest pitbull/boxer mix
Ironically, the dog's name was the same as mine (haha!!) so when she called him, we both responded.

Dakota was a gem, I think he is about 7, but wouldn't hurt a fly, he is very docile. I just moved and I miss him, he always used to come over to the fence to greet me. A real love bug.

My Sasha Kara, a bluepoint snowshoe and world class box-artist..

Her favorite toys are glitter balls.

My Blues Brother, Tsar Ivan and Tsar Yuri:

Ivan, a cat very 'allergic' to demon 'nip..

Yuri, a cat too smart for my own good! He loves beanie babies.

My handsome Batu Khan, my perpetual purr-er:

Khan, expressing his view on the worth of the media..

Last but not least, my Razputin, bad cat and biter extraordinaire, a creature whose name turned out to be completely prophetic!(Razpy came from a 2 kitten litter. His brother came out as a choc point meezer. Razpy is a 'reverse-meezer': all brown with white front toes!)

(Even demons however can manage to look sweet, when it suits their needs)

25. Yuri and Ivan are beautiful!
gorgeous eyes! What breed are they? I noticed a lot of Russian names in your family, is that because the breed is Russian or because you are? You have to excuse my ignorance as I'm not a cat person. I have brother and sister Border Collies with Russian names as well, though it has nothing to do with their breed. Boris and Natasha were already named when I adopted them but it was their names that sold me as I had recently put down my "Rocky" when I found them. I figured since they all were named after the same cartoon, it was a sign. Not to mention, I'm half Russian myself.

29. Yes , they are..
they are so good natured that I joke they were restaurant maitre d's's in their past lives! They love company!

The Russian names are sort of a theme. I got Khan as a kitten after Ivan & Yuri, and named him after a descendant of Genghis Khan (Batu Khan) since the Khans were always 'invading' tsarist Russian. So I kept the Russian names when I got Sasha, and then Razputin (who I usually call Razpy.) Razputin unfortunately was the right name for that cat lol.

Do you think this guy could be Russian Blue too? Maybe not purebred, because his tail has very faint tabby rings on the tip. We adopted him from the vet's office, and my aunt now has him.

24. Okay, if you insist...
In late summer of 2003, a feral cat left two kittens at our weekend cabin in West Virginia. Every weekend when we returned, there they were waiting for us. We decided to adopt them but only Skipper, on the right, let us adopt her. Angel, on the left prefered the woods. I still see him occassionally.

Skipper now lives with us full-time and I think it is she who adopted us rather than the other way around.

38. Okay, here's a brag:
My girl got her IABCA National Championship certificate in the mail yesterday. This is from a show of almost a year ago - IABCA takes forever. She's got another one in the works too, and I know I won't see that one until summer at the earliest. But, as long as I know it's on its way, all is well.

The last show we were at, in October, they had run out of blue ribbon emblems, and though we picked up 4 wins, we went home without the emblems. They did mail them a few months later.

On my slow net connection, most of the pictures in this thread sadly didn't come up for me, so I won't add to the slowdown and post pics at the moment ... but I'm sure I'll have opportunity to do so in the future....
