Which one of the 7 Dwarfs would your pet be?

My dog Natasha would probably be Happy. She just always seems to have a smile on her face. Either that or Doc as she's absolutely brilliant.

Boris would definitely be Grumpy as he always looks, well, grumpy. He's the sweetest dog you'll ever meet but he always looks sad and angry. I have only been able to get a few pictures of him smiling. These guys are brother and sister yet they seem like complete opposites a lot of the time.

So which one is yours most like, Doc, Dopey, Sleepy, Grumpy, Happy, Sneezy, or Bashful? Post a picture if you can.

2. Sleepy and Happy

And yes, he does sorta look like Ridge, but I won't hold that against him. ;-)

And I would definitely say that Natasha has competition for the role of Happy now! Wow! What a smile!

5. The Daemon looks not only happy, but a bit smug

like he knows he got away with something, lol!

If Sabastian had his mouth open a bit in that photo, he could look like Condi Rice!

And yes, the Daemon is quite smug. But we love him just the same. :)

4. I love that photo of Boris in the tub, lol! I guess I would have to

say that Miro (the tuxedo cat at the top of this photo) is Dopey most of the time. His tongue sticks out whenever he's content-it's pretty cute. He's not the sharpest knife in the drawer, but he is a real sweetie. sometimes he's Doc-the leader (though in his case, a reluctant one). The younger cats adore him and look to him for comfort-as Oberon is doing here- whenever there's anything slightly stressful going on.



Puck is Happy, no doubt about that! Though in this photo she's looking pretty shocked (she's just discovered that the tub is full-and her tail is soaking in it!) she's always alert and bouncy. She begs for playtime almost incessantly; she'll stand over one of her toys and make this "Ur, urr, urr, ERRR"! noise, punctuated with a dramatic head toss, which means "play with me, dammit!!" She also loves to go for walks on her leash, which she's pretty good at!



Oberon, believe it or not, is Bashful. He's such a sweet, tender hearted guy. He has a high pitched, trilling mew, which he using to ask very politely for some playtime or a fresh cup of water in the bathroom sink (an odd obsession of his). When he wants food, he jumps up on my scanner and just sits there with his head cocked to the side and one paw raised demurely in the "high five" position. He tries to be subtle most of the time. He's the clingiest of the cats, too. He sleeps beside me at night and hates it when I even just step out to the grocery (I always come home to find him pawing like mad at the front door). He's just a big sensitive baby, though you'd never know it to look at him!

7. oh GOODIE ~~ Obie pixs!

My fix for the day is complete. I love the one of him with his paws crossed.
His peachy markings on his face are just adorable.

Reading about the sounds your cats make, wonder if it is a tabby thing? My red cat (Daemon) makes the funniest noises. In the morning, he is impatient to be fed, he bumps the bedroom door open and says "errrrrrrr-ruh..." If you startle him, and he hasn't seen you, he says "brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrp" a chirping sound.

8. Yeah, I can see Miro as both Dopey and Doc

That's funny that Puck does that head toss thing. Tasha does that too. She gets mad when no one will play with her and does this whiney thing and runs around shaking her head with the toy in her mouth. It's her version of a tantrum.

I love the photo of Obie with his paws crossed! Too cool! He has them big ass paws like Boris! It's so weird, Boris' paws are way too big for his size. Natasha's are normal but his are like catcher's mitts. I'll try to find a photo and post it later. In Obie's case I guess he's still growing into them huh? Boris is all done growing.

20. YAY Oberon pics. Is he our first DU kitty celebrity?

I think we all love OBIE.

My daughter, who does not visit DU unless I want to show her something,
is absolutely gaga over Oberon

she thinks Puck is pretty cool too, but Obie is the ONE!!!!

She made me hunt down pictures of him to show her friend the other day. I finally remembered that we are friends on Catster and found him there. Danielle was suitably impressed.

He is the most impressive cat I have ever seen, and you take such lovely photos. How do you get the background to black out, or do you have him on a black backdrop when you get those pretty almost formally posed pics of him and PUck.

I'm so glad that your daughter enjoys Oberon's photos! He's a real ham (more so than all the other cats I've had. My beloved Peewee was TERRIFIED of the camera, and Miro took a rather strong dislike to it too. Puck doesn't mind it too much, though). I wasn't sure if Oberon would tolerate the camera when I got him, so I took the earliest photos of him from a distance:



Soon enough, it became obvious that the camera wasn't a threat:



My best photos use reflected or defused direct natural light. Unfortunately, only two windows in my home give me the kind of light I need, so almost all the photos end up with the same background (my studio/ guest room). If I take the photos on an overcast day with direct natural light,

The dark backgrounds usually appear in photos taken in bright natural light, which become rather high contrast when the spot meter is focused on either the lightest or darkest areas. Focusing on the wrong spot will ruin an otherwise great shot in these situation, as in this photo:



Bright direct light is tricky. It's hard to find an area of focus that creates the right contrast for the photo, plus getting ones subject into the sunbeam successfully isn’t always easy. For instance; this photo would have been more dramatic if Oberon had only moved forward a few inches:

Reflected or diffused light is easier. This photo was taken when the bright late morning sun was bouncing off the home across my driveway:

Sometimes I cheat:This photo was taken at the same time as the one in my sig line. I used photoshop to darken the background in that one because I found it distracting, and saturated the color more because Picturetrail tends to desaturate the photos to some degree:

9. Boris looks sooo grumpy! How funny!

I really need to get with it with the photo thing, I have a nice digital camera and all the equipment I've just been too lazy to learn the ropes. I will do soon.

I've got a Sneezy: the newest addition to the family is Ivan, a great big tuxedo male I rescued. He had a horrible upper respiratory infection and wheezed and sneezed all the time. That was months ago, but every time he comes inside he'll sneeze once or twice and then get on with the business of eating, or playing or whatever. Enter the house, sneeze, and move on, that's Ivan's motto. He's also a sweetheart, but a very distinctive sneezer (and hopefully, once his diet changes later this week, he'll become a much less frequent farter).

My Clarisse, a mostly white female with calico ears and tail, is a svelte 7 lbs of pure ornery GRUMPINESS. Always complains when you pick her up, or touch her, or even look at her sideways. Always a comment from her, usually snide.

And then there's Tommy, the kitty love of my life, a male orange tabby who's brilliant and just Happy all of the time. He is so serene and content that I think he'd be a good Happy. If I'm ever upset, all I have to do is pick him up and the stress goes away, it's almost like he wicks away the sadness but doesn't become affected himself.

11. Oh good! We have a Sneezy! I was wondering if we'd find one

I'm glad Ivan's sneeze has gotten better though. I bet we would have a lot of "Farties" if we added an 8th dwarf ;-) .

Well, you have a true Grumpy, Boris is actually very sweet and friendly, he can't help the way he looks. It does take a lot to get him to wag his tail though. His sister will wag constantly all day but Boris' wags are few. He wags more in the morning than in the evening for some reason. As soon as I say his name in the morning, he wags his tail, while still in bed. But in the evening I don't get the same response. Very strange he is.

Isn't it amazing how your fur-faces can make you forget all your troubles? People who don't have them just don't get it.

10. Closest to mine is Grumpy.

Her name is Mina but I call her Mean Kitty most
of the time.

She's small and all white with a crink in her tail.

Closest to her personality is a demanding, picky,
high-drama princess. When she comes inside sometimes
she stops and gives a little huff over her shoulder
like yeah, you'll wair for me. You'll do as I command.

So as you can imagine, if I'm not paying attention
to her orders, that's when she gets grumpy.

12. Sounds like the stereotype of all cats

we know it's not true but some people think all cats are like that. I've never owned a cat myself, but I have friends with cats and very few are drama queens.

13. This cat is. I have eye witnesses who can

give testimony to the shoulder shrug and the
stroll/swish.

It's hilarious.

A couple of days ago a friend of mine was in
from out of town and Mean Kitty was outside, wanted
to come in. My friend bent down to pick her up and
I was like no, no, no. It has to be when the cat wants.
She'll run.

Sure enough. We had to go, and the cat ended up
outside all day -- cold blustery winter day -- and
I'm still being punished for it.

I just thought it was funny that you have one that really is aloof and well, thinks she's superior.

I didn't even realize she was like that until
a neighbor and I were outside one day chatting and
Mean Kitty did the shrug/stroll/swish thing and
Meg pointed it out to me.

It floored me because this cat was 10 years old at
the time and I was so well trained I didn't even
see it.

21. Lewis is definitely Happy, he always looks as if he has a smile on his

face.

The late great Scamp was definitely Grumpy!!! We used to call her the Grumpus kitty, and no other cat we currently have can even come close to Her Serene Grumpiness.

CatZilla could be Doc, as Doc is more or less the leader of the 7 Dwarves and Zilla appears to be lobbying for alpha cat (amongst his brothers, anyway) this is Lewis and CatZilla ( he is in the front, Lewis in the back)

Thomas our older cat is Sleepy, simply because he sleeps a lot more than he used to, but he could also be Bashful as he is the most shy of all our cats.

Okay, Meneken is Bashful. He's a skittish little guy, who only comes to someone he's comfortable with, usually meaning just me.



And Sara is Happy. She is just such an excited, happy little being. She just loves life, and, like my other guys, all from rescue, she's fortunate to have it.



And my kitty. Either Grumpy, because she had such a hard time, or Sleepy, because she's reclusive, or Bashful.
