Do you leave your political disputes at the "door" when you come here?
I just realized that as vitrioloc as GD: P has gotten during the primaries, I have no idea if I have read any posts there that belong to anyone in this group or the Gardening group. It's like I close the political door and open the friendly door when I come here.

I like it that way! LOL

1. only thing I've seen here that even comes close to
political has been the contempt for politicians Bill Frist and Mitt Romney for their treatment of animals.

6. Yes, and I don't think that can be disputed at all!
Now that I think about it, the topics of raw food and PETA can get heated, but we always seem to get back to :grouphug: when it passes.

It's just so much nicer here than in GD: P. I think it's because animal people are such a compassionate bunch! :loveya:

8. Think about it, though.
Those 2 topics rarely come up here. They most often appear in the Lounge.

9. True, but I think when they do come up,
we are more likley to "get over it" because we know how genuine we all are in this group. This is not just a "pic of the day" club. The folks who post here day by day truly love their "fur families." Whether they are activists or a home full of beloved pets... I think we know each other well enough and have a lot of respect for each other, and that is a beautiful thing.

Sadly, in the real world, the animal welfare groups in this area tend to have a lot of competetive feelings and animosity. I have often said that a lot of people who can't get along with other people gravitate toward animal welfare, and that's why our groups don't get along. But thankfully, we don't seem to have that kind of negativity here, and that makes me very happy.

7. Yeah, it's realy a haven here.
Sometimes a good debate really gets me going in a GOOD way. But I always know that when I just want to have some fun or need to cheer up, this is the pace to be! :pals:

4. Not really. Since some of us have both.
And others have birds or ferrets or other furkids.

10. The Pet Forum is like heaven
I come in here to escape from the primary craziness. Nothing like looking at the cute faces of kitties, dogs, birds and ferrets to soothe my nerves.

I LOVE it here! :grouphug:

or forget what it's like in there :scared:

we could always start a flame fest on Cats vs Dogs

which means the gerbil, hamster, rabbit, ferret, guinea pig, mice, rat, bird, fish, reptile people will be upset because their pets are among the top contenders and won't be allowed to debate

and I'll probably get flamed for failing to mention amphibians, insects, arachnoids, horses, cows, pigs, goats, sheep, crustaceans and imaginary creatures

13. The pet forum
is a place where you can just forget about how divided we are as a country and find some kind of peace among fellow pet owners. Lets face it sometimes our pets are more sane than most people. It also give one a chance to bond with a D.U.er instead of flame war. We all agree we love our pets.
