Nikko's new baby brother

so i feel like a very lucky guy today -- i've been looking to get nikko a little playmate for a while now and i really wanted a chocolate point siamese... i luck up and find this little fella today at the humane society.

i won't have him at home for a few days -- he has to be neutered and microchipped and such...

it's going to be interesting to introduce the two... i'm a little nervous, but i think nikko will slowly warm to the idea... he just really needed another cat to play with, he has so much energy, and i think he was getting bored alone...

so i will let you guys know how it goes in a few days when i do the introduction... and if you have suggestions on introducing a new one to the home, feel free to let me know!

aren't they gonna be cute together? :-D

1. Very cute!
What are you going to name the siamese? He is gorgeous!!!

So is Nikko of course. :loveya:

I suggest if you can have someone else bring the kitten into your house, put him in a room that you can shut the door. Leave him in there for a few days...they can smell/hear each other through the door and get used to the idea of another kitty around. Then let the kitten out and see what happens. Good Luck!

7. thanks, great advice
someone else has told me i should have someone else bring in the new kitten too, so i wouldn't be "the traitor" - ha

so i'm thinking of having my friend bring him over and i'll act all surprised with nikko that the new one arrived...

8. thanks
the humane society says he's about 2 months old...

he's just so adorable and friendly...

i have a feeling, he's more of a "beta" where nikko definitely has the alpha personality.

13. Meezers can fool you!..
Edited on Tue Jun-07-05 11:18 PM by Princess Turandot
even when they are laid back, they can be pretty demanding. My snowshoe is very reserved until she wants something. Then she starts stabbing the air with her little paw, shrieking her head off.

This site has excellent links on almost everything, and a whole section on bringing home a new cat & intros to current cats.

Edited to add: If the photos are accurate, I think that he may be a seal point meezer. His points are already look too dark for a chocolate point.

15. i agree, i think he's seal point too
the humane society labeled him "chocolate point"

either way, he's beautiful, so i'm happy... i can't wait to get him home and bath and brush him... nikko's coat is already so much softer and silker since i've had him, because of all the brushing and bathing i do...

thanks for the link, i'm going to check it out now.

6. He is so adorable! I think you are going to have hours and hours of
laughter from these two.
I agree with the poster who suggested putting the new cat in a carrier into the same room as Nikko for him to sniff out. It is a great idea. This way they can get used to each other without any harm befalling anyone.
I think they will be great friends.
Please let us know what you decide on for a name for your new addition.

10. Oh, he's a beauty, as is Niko
Siamese cats make such great pets, they actually aren't really cats in a lot of situations, they are either dogs or people.

That being said, I think your two will bond and get along nicely - they are both young and energetic.

16. Wow - what a handsome guy! Aren't they talkative?
I've always heard/noticed that black cats and siamese are way more talkative then most cats. Ours is a calico/tabby, and VERY quiet (unless it's 4am and she wants fed)

18. beautiful new boy!
congrats! take the intro slow. put the newcomer in a room for about 3 days, let them sniff under door. occassionally take newcomer out and put nikko in the baby's space, let the baby roam nikko's space. do this for 3 days, and you should have little problem putting them together. i have males and have done this twice, works like a charm. may have some hissing at first, but nothing drastic. could also consider giving nikko some rescue remedy by bach's if he is aggressive at first.

good luck, let us know how they are doing! -48
