Pics of my Newly Constructed Cat Walk
As some of the kitty-lovers around here know, one of my hobbies is constructing enclosures so my cats can enjoy the outdoors. A few years ago we constructed a "kitty condo," which is a cage off a window into some trees. The kitties go there to watch the birds or take a nap.

Last year I put a cat fence around the top of the fence that encloses my pool/gardens. This prevents any cats or other animals from coming in and it also prevents my cats from jumping the fence.

This year the project was a cat walk so the cats can come and go from the house at their leisure. Here are two pages of pics:

1. I LOVE THIS!
And, I'm in trouble! My babies are jealous and taking up petitions for one of their own!

What a great jungle when the wisteria grows back in around the fencing.

I want to kiss that cute nose peering down from the sunlight.

4. WOW! That is fantastic
We all know cats LOVE to be up high.

And I was sure that was a raccoon's tail in that pic on the second page. I have never seen a cat's tail look like that! Very beautiful.

7. What a great idea.
My SO is going to hate you when he gets home because I want one for my cats and have the perfect place for one, wisteria and all. Thanks for a great idea.

8. Nice job.
I have been trying to get my DH to build stuff like this so our babies can go outside. I will show him these pics. He is such a procrastinator. I'd love to be able to let the kids out without having to worry about them.

9. Wow - This is Great!
What a terrific backyard. I especially love your pool. You are a lucky lady. :D

All kidding aside, your cat walk is great! Your kitties must be thrilled.

I agree with BrklynLiberal - I too want to come back as one of your kitties in my next life. :D

10. cat enclosures--other pics
Thanks for the comments everybody! Yes, the kitties do love being on "high" and just hanging out in the catwalk itself, watching a human or two go under the pergola, not to mention the birdies and squirrels in the trees.

A funny thing, though, is that Greenlee, the white kitty, considers it a territory extension. Now she does territory prowls several times a day, going from the kitty condo, the entire indoors including upstairs, and on up to the pool garden. She's in, she's out, she's in, she's out.

These things aren't hard to build but it does take time, of course. Not expensive, either, as we got most of the materials from yard sales and the like. I did purchase a door with a magnetic lock that goes on the kitties' collars but I now view that as unnecessary.

Here are links to other interpretations of how to give cats the outdoors with an enclosure:

IMO, this one is has the best pics.
