New kitten sneezing...

One of my new gingers is sneezing alot, I think it could be the start of a URI, what should I do? We just got them yesterday from the SPCA, should I call them and get some meddies? I dread the kitten diarrhea that could follow.

So far I have them separated from my older two to protect them.

Any ideas welcome, homeo as well...

1. Call them and get antibotics immediately

or get them from the vet. There is a mean distemper that has been raging out there.

4. Lots and lots of acidophilus with the antibiotics will help with the

diarhhea. You can get capsules at health food stores or pharmacies. Open capsules and put into food or even into the antibiotic when ;you give it to the kittens. You can get it in liquid form as well.
Acidophilus can do no harm. Cannot overdose.
It will really help fight the diarrhea and discomfort of the antibiotics which you should definitely get with the rampage of URIs that seem to be going around.
I take it. I gave it to my son when he was a baby, and he still takes it when he has to take antibiotics. I give it to my pets when they have any kind of diarhhea.

2. He probably does have a URI. Call the SPCA for some

Clavamox. Many kittens develop it from the stress of so many changes in their life. You'll also need antibiotics for your older cats too-it can travel through the air ducts of your home. All of my guys are being treated for it now. It's a pain, but it should be cleared up in a few days.

Did you get complete vet records for him? has he been checked for everything? If not, a vet visit would be a good idea.

3. They've had all shots, tested neg for fe-luk, aids

we neutered and microchipped, all for $100. Alot easier than me having to take them to the vet after I got them home.

I will call the SPCA immediately, I know URIs are common. Oh joy, having four cats with anti-biotic induced diarrhea!!

8. It he just sneezing or is there any discharge?

He could just be sneezing from something in his new environment. Maybe the dust from the new cat litter?

9. No discharge, called the SPCA they advised to

use my free exam coupon and take them in to vet to be sure nothing is brewing. Today he is not sneezing at all, so maybe it was just the change in environs.

They are both bright eyed and literally bushy tailed. You know how kittens arch sideways and sidle up to each other, it's hysterical. If the vet gives the okay, we might try to do an intro tomorrow.

Gee, seeing how easy this is with my extra room, I could foster if I wanted to...

11. Update, everything is fine, kittens went to vet yest. aft.

No URIs, no fleas, no mites. Vet remarked they are beautiful little tabbies. :)

So, we let them out with the rest of the family. It's been easier than I thought.

12. So staight to the vet!

Our little love had upper respirtory infection from the pound. He was very close to death. His weight was below 2 pounds. After two and a half days in isolation (where I visited and hed him for hours) he pulled through and is now a very happy, a very healthy and very vibrant little 15 pound Pitter-pat!

15. thanks, yes, everything is A-OK. We've started the intros..

some frequent hissing, and our little one made the mistake of touching the Daemon's back and got swatted into the corner of the stairs, but overall we're making progress.
