Have you hugged your cat today?
Please do something special for you feline friends today.

Friday, I lost my best friend and soul-mate to cancer. Rita Mae was a 12 year-old tortie. She was smarter than any feline I have ever known. She gave me more love than most humans and I've know some pretty great humans.

I've been trying to post about Rita Mae since I lost her Friday afternoon, but I start crying whenever I start writing. It feels as if someone ripped my heart out and stomped on my chest. If I didn't have others who depend on me, I would go with her.

Just wanted to remind you to do something special for your feline friend today. We never know what tomorrow will bring.

Peace.

I'm so sad to hear that. Its been a bad week- here on this site and personally as well.
I lost a human friend to cancer on sunday.

But feline or human it all hurts. We have to keep their memories alive in our hearts.

I will give Geneva and Annie extra hugs today.

2. hugs
I lost my Blue in March to her second cancer. We overcame mammary cancer, but lost her to a nasal lymphoma. She too, was a special girl. It's so hard to write the way I really feel about her without looking like a Hallmark card.

Lots & Lots of hugs
  :pals:

So sorry to hear about your beloved kitty. Can't even imagine what its like to lose your furchild. Sending a hug

As a matter of fact I gave all four of my felines extra hugs and kisses today, from my new ginger babies, to the Daemon, to FattyB. I am having a weird day myself, and nobody died here -- I've been off all week for some reason.

Maybe it's the world vibe. I'm sick of all the lying and violence, being with my cats makes everything alright again.

4. I just lost my cat, David, a week-and-a-half ago
She was 19-years old and I lived with her longer than I've lived with any other human or animal in my life. I feel some peace in that she lived well right up until the end. Up until two days before she died she went in and out of the house as she desired - she liked to sit on the front porch and watch the world go by. She was served food on demand (her's of course), purred when I picked her up, and slept on the cushiest part of the 4' x 2.5' dog bed (while the Golden Retriever was relegated to sleeping on the hardwood floor). She started looking wobbly just two days before she died and when I took her into the vet - she was well on her way toward the next world on her own.

Remember, ChesireCat that Rita Mae is at peace now and that she would want you to have peace, too.

O8)

7. I'm so sorry!
What I hate are people who don't get that animals are part of your family--and when you grieve, they dismiss your pain by saying "It's only a cat/dog."

I hope you don't encounter too much of that!

10. I'm so sorry
The one bad thing about loving our pets so much is when we have to say goodbye. You just have to remember the good times and that you gave her a wonderful life of love with you. If only all companion animals were so lucky.

Eventually you will want to love an animal again and I hope you won't hesitate to take another little fur person into your heart.

11. Chessy, I am sorry. I met a new friend on that same day, a tortie.
She lives at the Museum of Appalachia, which I visited on that day. I took a couple of pictures of her and will post one for you if you don't think it would hurt too much to see her.

She was one of the sweetest, gentlest cats I've ever met.

I will think warmly of you today, and will offer all the love and affection I can to all my cats when I get home tonight, and I'll tell them about you and Rita Mae.
