*URGENT* Need foster home :(
My friend has a 4 year old Pit Bull, Mavis, she is going to have her put down. I have been calling local shelters for the last few hours and nothing is open. Apparently, she nipped one of the kid's friends. My friend now has the dog in the rec room but she said she is taking her to the pound in the morning.

After a long argument, I have convinced her to wait until the afternoon so that I can try to find her a "childless" home, or at least one with more well behaved kids.

I have never seen Mavis behave aggressively. I have however, had to tell my friend's son not to pinch, kick and hit the poor dog numerous times. He was not the child involved today, but I have no doubt she is afraid of all children because of him.

I am desperate to find her a home. I can't take her....I have 2 dogs already or I would. Could you please post this on any animal related message boards you may go to? I am going to post it in the pets forum as well.

Thanks guys....anything you can do to help, Mavis will be grateful. We are in West Virginia.

And please, no anti-pit bull posts. The dog is just afraid of children. Thanks everyone.

2. Sorry;, but in some cases, it is the children who need to be leashed.

3. *Update*
Ok well, Mavis is staying with my mom and dad until I can find her a permanent home. So at any rate, she is out of harms way for a while.

I feel so bad for her...she was bouncing around and playing with my parent's dog tonight, she had no idea that she almost didn't survive the day, at the hands of her own "mommy" at that.

I am so disappointed in my friend. :(

SCQ, I do know how you feel about Pits -
BrklynLiberal - I couldn't agree with you more I am sorry to say. :(

4. Why does the dog need to be put down?
IMO a dog shouldn't be killed for nipping a kid - I agree with you Brooklynlib!!

5. Have you checked rescue organizations?
Definitely keep the dog out homes with children. And stress that any children visiting should not play with the dog.
