need for fosters...
September 7, 2005
Dear Friends,
I am writing on behalf of Veterans Recovery & Food Bank of Florida Inc. We are currently working on aid for Hurricane Victims and their beloved pets. Dr. Ann Scholl of Chickasaw Trail Animal Hospital has volunteered to set up a veterinary medical team in Perlington, Mississippi with the Pontchartrain Humane Society. Our organization is sponsoring her in this generous endeavor. Dr. Scholl plans to leave Sept. 8 with the first group of volunteers and the supplies that we currently have on hand. We have been requesting medical and veterinary supplies from local veterinarians and I must say they have been terrific. We are sending her north with both human and animal supplies.
This is just the first group we are sponsoring in this great effort to help both humans and the pets they love. We are hoping to send another group in October. I have been asked to assist on the second trip with transporting animals back to our area for safe keeping and care. If there is anyone interested in pet foster care e-mail or call me. (See contact information at bottom of page).
We are also lucky to have the support of David Peters of Absolute Amusements & Knight Armament of Titusville. Both companies are donating tractor-trailers to pick up the material we have collected to this point. This is a kind and generous contribution and we need many more like them. Yeah!
We will continue collecting supplies for humans & animals, for the next 4 months. This is where you can help. Please consider donating materials or financial resources to aid in this continuing voluntary effort. The folks who will travel with the supplies are using their own resources to sleep and eat while offering free aid and supplies to victims and their pets. They are in need of gas for the trucks as well as the following items:
cash donations (Please make all checks or money orders payable to: Vets & Pets)
pet food and cages
leashes and collars
clothes of all sizes
nonperishable items
medical supplies (both human and animal)
