Checking in on the fly
Hello all! Just wanted to say a collective "howdy" and let everyone know that I've been utterly consumed by home remodeling, so I haven't had a chance to respond to all the threads I've wanted to in the past week or so! The contractors have cleared out with a promise to return in two weeks to finish the exterior (put up clapboards on the dining room wall they redid), which means the interior is left to me to paint (which wasn't in the budget to have them do), clean, decorate, etc.

So I'm in utter pain (painting's quite the workout--who knew?) but I get up and do it again every day, motivated by the knowledge that pretty soon 9/10 of the house will be LIVABLE (and actually--dare I say it?--attractive!) for the first time since we bought the place four years ago. When I take small breaks during the day I peek at ASAH to keep up with what's going on. So many conversations I want to join in...perhaps soon...in the meantime, I've been sending light for those up against it at the moment. Also bracing for the rollicking Mercury retrograde ride--I read my AstrologyZone forecast for September--GAH!!!

See ya out there. :grouphug:

8. Hi Dream!
Thanks! Things are going all right, but I did get whomped by the predicted "money troubles" (in the Cappie September astro forecast) already. The contractors want a whole lot more money than I thought it would take to finish the exterior of the house. It's not like I can say no...but that means the money I was going to put away for a new car, as mine is on its last legs, might have to be invested in the house. That also means I can't have them finish the kitchen or redo the front steps (and if the bricks topple over like they're threatening to, our mailman will refuse to deliver the mail till they're fixed!) Ahhhh it never ends. But as I told Mr. MG, the house is 142 years old; we'd be lucky to still be standing at that age.

2. Good luck with the painting
You have being done to look forward to.:hi: It's hard work!

Give yourself a nice hot bath with some nice smelling essential oil and Epsom salts for those sore muscles. I love doing that!

3. yup. painting is definitely a chore
Although if you're doing flat, simple walls it can go pretty quickly with the right tools. Painting my kitchen -- the walls between the cabinets and counters -- yikes. That was painful!

Good luck! It'll look great when it'd done :)

10. Ugh, I wish it was that simple
Like an idiot I wanted wainscoting paneling in the powder room and mudroom. It is a BEE-YOTCH to paint, what with all the grooves. I had to really push the roller hard to get the paint in the crevasses, and then I had to go over it all with a paint brush to smooth it out. x( Luckily that part's done, though.

Now I have to paint my new shelves in the dining room and reach waaaaaayyyy into the new cabinets in the bathroom.

I copped out today and just painted the outside of the exterior doors--easy! :D

5. I'll be honest, the horoscope scared the hell out of me.
I know that's ridiculous, but the money stuff is the LAST thing we need right now. I'm hoping that I can counteract that a bit. Any advice?

6. Shiiiiiit...If I Had a Quarter for everytime someone asked my advice...

I know, i know...not helping
My guess is that we just need to hunker down and play it as close to the vest as possible.
brown bag lunches, cut corners on driving (plan trips close together to save gas) and be extra conscious of where you "leak" money (lattes, non-essentials, etc) - then try to stick your finger in the leak until next month?

I am scared about the travel stuff, I have to drive down the mountain 100 miles for school 2x a month and I am freaked out to have an accident or have my car blow up...need my traveling angels to fly extra close this month!!

crazy shit, maynard

let's hope we can just make it thru! :scared: :hide:

7. Actually, I do! I thought of you when I read this the other night
I was reading From Birth to Rebirth: Gnostic Healing for the 21st Century by C.V. Tramont. Tramont is a medical doctor who saw such amazing things that he couldn't explain while working as an m.d. that he became a past life regressionist. This is from the chapter "Life Patterns":

"Patterns in Circumstances

"Another form of pattern that can occur in several lifetimes may have nothing to do with relationships with other souls. It may strictly involve events or circumstances that are imprinted upon a person's subconscious cell memory, which may be reactivated for some reason and affect his attitude and how he approaches the situation surrounding an event or circumstance. A case in point was a 35-year-old woman who could not rise above her money problems. Every time she thought she was about to be financially successful, some unforeseen situation would surface and torpedo her efforts to climb out of financial crisis. Under deep hypnosis the subject was taken to her Higher Self and her Spirit Guide summoned. When directed to go back to the cause of this consistent money deficit, the subject immediately regressed back in time to life as a nun in the 16th century, where she was obligated to take an oath of poverty.

"When asked about other causes, the Spirit Guide indicated that two other lives contributed to this lack of money problem. One of those lives took place in the thirteenth century, where she was treated as a lowly female servant by a rich Italian family. She was actually a cousin to the family but was never fully accepted and was forced to work in the kitchen for her room and board. She felt that she was permanently stuck in the throes of poverty and could never rise above it. She died in a fire which started in the kitchen.

"The last life that contributed to her problem was spent as a boy who grew up in Argentina as the son of rich seventeenth-century parents. The parents were unloving and neglected him a great deal, being more interested in traveling. The boy was raised by the caretakers until, as a young man, he ran off to join the army. He often voiced the sentiment that the lack of love and caring by his parents made him feel extremely poor in spite of the family's wealth. He died in a battle when he was 23 years old.

"Following the session, the subject clearly understood why she felt as she did about never being able to be financially successful. Having made this connection and having understood how this negative programming was holding her back and blocking her progress, the subject excitedly declared that she felt as if a heavy weight had been removed from her."

I've come to realize that when we try to figure out all our problems based only on our current life experiences, it's like living in 2D, but when we bring our other lives into play, we suddenly see everything in 3D. I've cleared up quite a few of my issues by examining my past lives; perhaps this is something you might want to investigate? Going to a regressionist is interesting, but you can also get insights just by doing a deep meditation on your own. Might be worth investigating, no?

11. Aw, sorry you're still poorly!
Ickies begone! POOF! (Heh I just typed "POOP"==that's something completely different!)

Been following the mamacat saga. I get the feeling she's all right--just chose a quiet spot for her "lying in".
