ATREYU found....? No way! |
|
I just got a phone call from a little older lady about 2 blocks away. She & her husband have been watching a cat make trips across the neighbor's yard at the same times every dya for more than a week. the neighbors across the street are vacation homes, so no people there to listen for sounds. They ahve not followed her and don;t know much about cats, they say...but they hope it is her!
Laney and I are walking over that way RIGHT NOW with the cat box and some food to see if we can lure her out...let's see if it really IS my baby momma kitty!
I have been heartbroken but still whistling for her and looking for her every time I am in the front yard. I can;t accept her being 'gone' becuse it didn't feel correct.I read the post her this morning about the dog that had been found a year later and was praying for us to have a miracle too...
St. Anthony - finder of lost things.... Bast - cat goddess who protects her sisters... Blessed Mother Mary, caretaker of mothers everywhere... Help us! amen!

the house in question has a hole under the house with insulation, etc... there were bird feathers leading into the hole...hmmm, good sign?
I left a handful of food outside if the hole to check later this afternoon...
maybe she moved them when the weather got colder?
any 'hits' folks? pendulum, tarot, etc are welcome... BTW the address is 2300 Utah st

I hate to think of a precious little being like her lost forever. I was on the road traveling today and there were several cats and dogs that had met their end on the highway, it was extremely sad to see.

Edited on Wed Sep-23-09 08:10 PM by FirstLight
but still no signs of life where I was looking. though I know the bluejays won;t eat the catfood, cuz they never touched it when i put it out in the front yard either. This place is fenced well, too...so i know it is safe from dogs, coyotes, etc...
The little old couple came out and talked to me, it could very well be another cat, i don't think they know what a calico looks like. However, I put a handful of the kitty food in the path that they usually see her walking, and they say they will call as soon as they see her...
I pray my little purring muffin is sitting in my lap soon...(if not, at least a new kitten will be coming our way...)
used my pendulum, and I TOLD you guys it said she is NOT dead...so perhaps those guys really did get tired of me calling loud in the mornings...? crazy stuff...merc retro, eh? she went missing right when merc went retro too...hmmm

She recommends getting a trap that will catch the cat without harm....they are very human traps and will capture the momma..but you will have to get someone to go under the house to get the babies. Even if it is not your kitty...that kitty appears to needs a rescue and a home.

27. Okay, I guess I was just given the info to make it easier to release |

went back over there, no signs of life, no people around either...but maybe she was just 'seen' because she found a new family/home and is now running in a different 'hood...
I will keep looking and keep my eyes open, but I am also releasing the need to be vigilant about it. Perhaps I was just given this ray of hope so know she really had found a better place, and that the first idea of her being dead was not correct...
looking forward to our new kitten, have to meet her/him soon...

I have a friend whose cat had kittens about 5 weeks ago. It was a good 3 weeks before they could even venture a little way out of their nursery box. Only just now are they starting to go outside.
But mom needs food to make milk, so please consider continuing to put food over there. If someone's eating it, you're helping someone. Mamma kitty here has plenty of food inside her house but still liked to go out for fresh air several times a day, for an hour or so.
Hope this info helps. Stay focused on the new kitty that's coming, but if there's a kitty family over there that needs help, do what you can for them.
Blessings on you and all the critters.

Boy cats? Maybe Atreyu was afraid they would harm her babies and that's why she made the effort to escape. Is she a former stray who lived on her own for awhile? If so, she might feel more "at home in the wild."

My older kity is about a 3 yr old female, spayed...she is a bit of a bitch and quite a hunter. She fought with Atreyu incessantly leading up to her runaway...
and I think Atreyu was a little feral, her previous owners really didn;t pay much attention to her so she was used to fending for herself...that's why when we fed her and showered her with attention, she decided we were a better family!
going to run over that way... soon, this morning, the low tonight is supposed to be 24 and it is COLD! poor baby!

the humane society won;t give me a humane trap without a deposit of $80 I don't get my welfare till saturday so i still won;t be able to get a trap over there til monday dammitt! i hope it is her, but I also hope to help the critter under that house even if it isn't her
don;t know how else to get under there...? or even where the kittens would be, can;t hear any meowing or anything... and it is so darn cold today & tonight...the temp dropped 30 degrees in one day! pray for health & safety for my kitty family :(

perhaps the kitteh is avoiding traps like this in order to ensure she's still around to take care of her little ones. In a "can't be too careful" kind of way, I mean. YOU know you want to help her and would never take her away from her babies, but perhaps she doesn't (mama hormones trumping intuition that it's you trying to find her).

How long should I wait for her to return? am I just holding false hope and making it harder for us to let go? this is not the suburbs, it is seriously a coyote's world and bears and everything else in the wild out there... ~~~~
soooo.... The house was a false lead, i caught the one who was living there there..."blackie" is a male neutered, left to fend for himself when his owners moved no doubt...
took him and the cage back to the shelter, and would love to adopt him, but I don;t know what his health situation is and if he is older, he would be hard to socialize to my other cat... not to mention i made a deal with myself that the next kitty we get will be INDOORS only, as much as I hate to squelch their wild nature, it is too dangerous out there! there is a little black halloween kitten, "Kiki" at the shelter, and while I would love to take them ALL (damn, shelters make me  ) ...she may be the easiest to train because she is only a couple months old...

Pay for that other kitteh and tempt the fates !!! Did you say SNOW ??? We dodged the bullet here today! Tornado WARNINGS all around me, but all OK now. Plenty of rain came through my leaky skylite though. Thank God it's over my bathtub. I'm still praying for your Mamma kitteh, and I think it's very wise of you to make the next one an indoor furbaby. I have my daughter's Oriental, grey male, who's never been out in his life. Litter boxes are a pain in the ass, but at least he's safe and happy. I've had him since she got married to a guy who's allergic to cats, and passed it on to my grandson!!(the allergy) His name is Sammy, and is my Flurry's best buddy. Best of luck with the new kitten.....they are soooooo much fun. Would that they could stay kittens (and puppies) forever! Hugs and love..JA

I just looked outside to see the first flurries, the ground is wet, nothing "sticking" yet, but by tomorrow AM...I may be able to go look for kitty pawprints? perhaps...
and yes, it looks like Kiki will be coming home monday or tuesday, surprise the kids when they get home from school. I bought a little cat bed a few days ago hoping it to be atreyu's, but i guess it is going to be a soft place for another someone special. I'm still sad, but hopeful that a baby kitten will heal our hearts...

55. ((FirstLight)) I once had a beloved dog who was lost to us |
|
completely, or so I thought. She could not be found anywhere, nor was she found by dog officers, etc. She was gone a complete year, lost while snow was on the ground (minus a track/scent she could follow), a year later she came up the driveway on Thanksgiving morning, thin as a rail, but she was home, I was the one who saw her trekking up our amazingly long driveway...it was a miraculous return, one I'll never forget so long as I live. You hear about this kind of thing, but you never think it could really happen.
Who can say what will happen? You've done all you can, now you have to move forward.

I must get control over this empath thing. It's accelerated to the point that nearly everything I read or hear, I feel I'm right there, absorbing the same emotions as those sharing.
In this case, mother earth, I'm crying tears of joy as I imagine your beloved friend returning to you.
There was another story shared by an ASAH-er, down the page a ways, where her brother was reunited with his long-lost (actually, stolen, if I recall correctly) pet after a year.
Miracles do indeed happen.

57. Absolutely. I had given her up for dead, I worried over her |

for months before believing I'd never see her again. In no way did I ever expect to see her. I've always had a very special connection to my pets, probably something most owners feel. I once had a dream about another dog (when I was much younger) who went missing. I dreamed he was romping on a large farm and looking for a way to find his way home. I later found out my stepdad (evil should probably precede that noun) had given him away to a man who owned a large farm miles away (unbeknownst to me at the time). He nearly choked when I relayed the dream the next day. I should've known then, but didn't find out until months later.
Who knows what connection we have have with our adopted furry kids? All I know is that I feel for anyone in their loss of such love. It's unconditional, always.

58. We had a Doberman stolen out of our back yard |

Eleven months and three days later, he was out on the front porch, lounging on the couch, and waiting for someone to get home from work.
And get this - he was in better shape than the day when he had left.
We still have no idea how this happened! It had never occurred to us in our wildest dreams that he would be back (At least not after the three month mark.)

60. He really was one of the angel dogs. We lived in a rough-ish |

Neighborhood, so he would be throwing himself at the chain link fence with a vengeance. But if you were introduced to you, say in Oct of 1981, he still would remember you and give you a heroe's welcome when you returned to visit in Oct of 1983. He also had a great fondness for classical music and would try and stay up late to hear it with me. Then he'd be soothed by it to sleep, and his head would sort of slam into the floor with a thump. So I learned to put pillows under his head whenever he wanted to stay up and listen to music past his bedtime.
