Please send light to my coworkers
My company just laid off about 100 people this afternoon. I dodged the bullet, but my heart is breaking. Would you please send light to these folks?

Many thanks

3. Will do, Kookaburra.
Sad day for them and sending that they will not suffer long or much through this downturn. for you for thinking of them.

4. Right before Christmas? How heartless are these companies becoming?
Back in my day when a company had to lay off workers at the end of the year, they always waited until after the holidays. Sure they are in my thoughts.

5. Hi, Cleita. I've thought about that issue quite a bit since there's...
always the possibility that it could happen to me. After much though, I've come to the conclusion that I'd actually prefer it before the holidays than afterwards so that I didn't spend more for Christmas than I'd be able to afford in my new situation.

I seriously doubt that is why they did it now though. (There are very few compassionate aspects of layoffs. :()

11. more light headed their way
Ilived through years of nonstop layoffs in high tech. Always they were done right before holidays. My own was "Independence Day."

I never knew why, although I figured it was to avoid paying holiday pay to people who didn't matter any more. Maybe, too, they figured it gave the victims some time to recoup and prepare for next steps. And in the case of Christmas, a chance to rething their spending.

They always used to hit people who had just had a baby or bought a house or some other big ticket change... :grouphug:
