Double Whammy: Mercury and Mars Retrograde |
|
Well, It's happened, every one of our vehicles have become disabled for one reason or another within a week. We have 3 of them-- the Saturn dropped it's muffler, dh's big truck wouldn't start (needed a new battery) and now my Blazer won't start and the guys at the garage can't seem to figure out why.
I'm taking a rest now. TPTB clearly wish me to stay home.

They ran the diagnostics ($99) and found nothing. Now they want $280 to remove my starter. I feel like I've sent my car to a for profit hospital the way they are charging me.

and without a starter, they're holding the blazer hostage!
(thank Goddess for my mechanic. when the check engine light came on they ran diagnostics, told me it was the O2 sensor, turned the light off and told me to come back when it starts running rough. Cost? $0. Value? Priceless!!!)

8. Do you suppose a Mercury and Mars Retrograde would impact plumbing? |
|
We left Wed to go to my FIL house for the holiday. Tues PM late (why does this stuff always manifest after 5?) we realized the water line into our hall bathroom toilet had sprung a leak. No big deal we just turned the water feed off at the shut off valve, and figured we'd deal with it when we got back. We'd turn the water back on to flush and then turn it back off once the tank filled.
We go to my FIL house and within an hour of getting there, my SIL comes out of a half bath and says the chain on the flush broke. Again--no big deal--we used a bread tie for a "quick fix" and my FIL says he'll do a more permanent fix later on. (I have always kind of wondered how many toilet flushers have either a bread tie or a paper clip component, if you want the truth...)
The next day the hall bathroom drain plugged.
We got home and I ran to Menards to get the replacement water line for that stool. It is up there waiting for me or my husband to go and install it. I gotta admit I'm wondering about waiting until this current influence passes just in case...

15. I had NO idea. Thank you for that information, Rick! |
|
Hubby fixed that water line last night after dinner. Took him a small crescent wrench and about five minutes (mostly spent wondering aloud why toilets are installed in such way that you almost have to stand on your head to work on them...)
I have to admit that given the fact that neither one of us is terribly handy whn it comes to home repairs I wonder sometimes just WHY homeownership is supposed to be a good thing. I lived with a man several years ago that left me a copy of the Reader's Digest Guide to Home Repairs when he moved out. I bless him to this day.

Rick, good to see you! Hope your holidays have been happy!

Well, our truck's light came on saying the tires are low even though they were filled up a couple of weeks ago. The letter "j" fell off the laptop keyboard, and the house alarm keeps going off for no reason.
Ugh is right.

13. This morning we picked up the Blazer |
|
And then my dh was going to bring the Saturn (I really must name these vehicles if they are going to stay in the family over 10 years) to the muffler guy. The car wouldn't start.
Plus we accumulated about 6 inches of snow overnight.
After charging the saturn with Big YT (my temporary name for the White F250), it finally started. At that point my dh has decided he's done with screwing around with cars for the day.
On a positive note, I've dragged out the bread machine in the past week, have made home made bread (we are working through the bread machine cookbook). This morning had wonderfully tasty anadama bread french toast (made the bread Sat), am now baking some banana walnut bread and saw 3 crows in one of my big pine trees in the back yard. I think I'll send out some leftover french toast for them.

Lots of old stuff coming up and out, that I really did not wish to address...ever. At least it feels better to have it clearing.
Hang in, everyone!
