Are you paying attention to your 12 Days Of Christmas Dreams? 2009 ed.

Wickfordbard:
Are you paying attention to your 12 days of Christmas dreams? They represent the 12 astrological months – they are a prophetic tools available to you during this season of endings and beginnings.

Last year I posted a "12 Days of Christmas Dreams" thread to explore whether the dreams we have during the 12 Holy Days are prophetic.

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=245&topic_id=92031#92078">Last May there was a correlation between "towers falling" and the Taurus dreams of towers falling. I haven't compared the dreams with the year's events to see if there were more hits, but intend to (and invite you to do the same!) http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=245&topic_id=81422#81464">2008 Christmas Dream Thread

Please post your Dreams by replying to the day on which they occurred. My hope is that we can refer to this thread later in the year to see whether the dreams are prophetic.

I intended to start this year's thread on Christmas Day, but life kept me distracted. Sorry if my tardiness caused anyone to lose their dreams.

Thanks!:hi:

5. I have one for this day
There was a lot to it, but I only remember this bit: I went to a hair salon/spa that was "out of my league" (they catered to celebrities, etc.) I was going to have a complete makeover, especially my hair--maybe have it straightened or something equally as drastic.

I had to check in/sign in but I didn't know that, so instead I stood in an inner doorway (the place was in an old house), watching all the stylists work, like an ignorant rube. When I finally tweaked to what I was supposed to do, I went to the front desk to sign in. On the counter, and on tabletops in the waiting area, were big bowls of huge tumbled amethysts, some as big as my fist! (My favorite stone, for the record.) The tumbled stones were there for the taking--if you felt you needed one, you could just take one. I really wanted to pick an amethyst but was too shy.

When an employee signed me in, he said they gave everyone nicknames that they called you by the whole time you were there. He dubbed me Daisy (which made me feel very strongly about Daisy the dog in OGR's thread).

6. Lazy student calling me for help.
I was on the phone with a student who was asking me basic questions about Nameservers and Domain names. Web Design stuff. His voice was so lazy, as if he were completely uninterested in the topic and fighting to stay awake. I fussed at him for not doing his homework.

10. I dreamt
a large monarch butterfly divebombed me and wrapped herself around my head. No matter how I tried, I could not get her off me and I was afraid she would get hurt. Then, I realized she was afraid because she was dying and didn't want to be alone, so I let her stay until she passed.

9. Nanny State Space Date
Edited on Tue Dec-29-09 04:48 PM by crikkett
I was on a long journey onboard a spacecraft. I didn't know its destination. I saw only three other people; one was my husband.

We stayed within small living quarters - spare staterooms along long corridors. Grey metal walls and doors. No windows. Gravity.

Stewards or guides in white jumpsuits attended us. I knew two. Both were male, and they were the two other characters in my dream. I knew they were ship's crew. I knew that the taller one was assigned to me. He was handsome, kind and friendly. He reminded me of a sitcom actor, but can't name the actor or the show.

It was a calm dream, I felt no anxiety. I couldn't wander through the ship and my husband had his own stateroom but I didn't feel imprisoned, I felt like I was a passenger. My husband and I had a little tryst in my stateroom and I didn't feel like I was doing something wrong. We fell asleep.

The thing about living this way was the dreaming - even though we were somewhat confined while awake, when we slept we were transported to a lush (Terran) rain forest. That's where we roamed and explored.

So I dreamt, and found myself in the forest. I took in the surroundings, and recognized that this was a real place and that every passenger dreamt here. I wandered through the forest, and discovered what looked like a marker for the sector I was in. It was a wooden sign about knee-high painted white with a letter C and a combination of numbers written in black. I realized that this may not be a limitless space, and wanted to find the end of the forest. I paused, feared for a moment of getting lost in the dreamland but then continued on my way.

A moment later my guide and his companion passed the same marker, following me. The second guide was chattering on about my husband and our earlier lovemaking (in a way that 'George Costanza' would)... so I learned that they watched over us.

At least he was impressed.

7. Day 4 - Cancer - Dec 29
Edited on Tue Dec-29-09 02:42 PM by Kind of Blue
Dreamed that my mother and I were shopping and she was actually walking (she's wheelchair bound and walks around the house a little). Well, I picked up one of those rectangular fixtures that fits around a light switch. It felt made of metal and somehow antique, powdered blue background and pretty white lace design overlay on it. I thought it was lovely and My mom says, "That would be nice for the baby's room," the exact thought I was having in the dream but thought it was too froufrou for a boy - since I gravitated to something blue.

What baby? I must be picking up on MorningGlow's dream I thought when I awakened.

12. Night of Dec 29
Was in a building walking past a long aquarium built into a wall. Colorful coral, not many fish, I noticed something interesting in a small hollow but was not able to stop and look at it, had to keep moving forward. But I started looking harder and then saw another, it was a tiny octopus, about the size of a ping pong ball. I was able to stop then and look at it. Very vivid this was, I can still see it, and quite relaxing.

22. Like BI, I had a mess o' chaotic dreams
One of them had something to do with celebrities as well...a bunch of vapid Paris Hilton-type chicks (famous for being famous) were doing some sort of Survivor-type reality show. I was part of the crew and had to clean up after them and help them accomplish their tasks behind the scenes (although on camera it looked like they were doing it all themselves). At one point they had to all pack up and leave wherever they were (don't remember the reason), and a cute guy and I were sort of their "guides". He and I ended up together.

But then I left and was riding a bicycle up a gorgeous country road in summer--a broad lane with a giant trees on either side, shading it, and a few stately homes set well back from the road. The road went steeply uphill, and a bunch of people started pouring out of a building on the left-hand side and coming down the middle of the road. I went up to the building to find out what it was; it turned out to be a church of some sort--more like a cult. The people were all blissed out and rubbing their fingers and thumbs together--at the end of their "service" they anointed their fingertips with some sort of oil.

Weird. Just weird.

17. Dream about Important Visitors to a University.
So in the dream I'm back in college and have to take an exam for a math class that I never attended. Except that I'm helping to run things and I never took time to study (yes it's one of those). The anxiety made me lucid and I decided to put off the math exam until later.

So I am helping to run things, I'm in charge of a house/dorm and friends with people in charge of an oldfashioned neighborhood club (cross between cafe/bar/cafeteria and smaller than a Student Union).

So it's exam week, and I receive a group of important visitors and have to accommodate them in every way from food & shelter to transportation & clothing. They wanted specific fabric for their clothes, linen dyed in solid "jewel" colors. We found some, looked it over, decided on patterns. They left after a while.

Several people from the volunteer org. I help run were cast in roles in this dream.

18. Dream about obnoxious strangers
DH dreamt he had to find someone to speak to them. However, every time he located that person (a stranger) the person vanished before his eyes. He eventually decided to leave (wasn't worth the frustration) and was immediately chastised for leaving, with no chance to explain himself.

Then he was told that he was an untrustworthy person because the stranger dreamt that my dh had harmed an animal. DH loses patience, tells the stranger that he can't be held responsible for another person's dreams - that dreams are a reflection of the dreamer etc. and this is stupid. Then he woke up.

20. I had a cornucopia of weird dreams. Most notably, one in which I was touring
the house of a celebrity (Jen Garner) and I got lost. Then I fell asleep. The family actually called an ambulance, (they thought I'd passed out or something) which brought along a nice nurse to take care of me.

There was another minor dream in which I was getting a reading out of an alt bookstore in a new city, and another in which I was back in therapy (or trying to get back into it) and really not liking it (it was group therapy, which I would never do in real life).

Haha.
In the same set of dreams, I was trying on new clothes but putting them on at the same time. I asked what do you think of my white skirt. Then I was putting on a pair of medium to light blue pants.

Also I was puttering around when the group I was with was leaving; I was just dilly-dallying.

36. Day 6 - I have no computer to loan
Until she drove up to my door I had forgotten that I'd promised an acquaintance a loaner computer while hers was being repaired and child-proofed (her young son had done something to screw it up.)

She came unannounced and brought her two children. I scrambled to find a machine to lend her but as it turns out I had already gotten rid of anything I could have put together for her. I had two of my husband's macs in mothballs that I could have used - IF I had the time and necc. parts to bring them back to life - and IF I could convince DH to let them go. But it wasn't possible under current circumstances (I mean, her kid had already killed one computer...)

Meanwhile her kids, an 11-ish yo boy and a younger girl, were running around my house tearing things up. My husband kept my friend occupied in conversation while I tried to figure things out. It was pretty chaotic.

Finally I had to face the music, and explain that while I have historically hung on to hardware long after any reasonable person would, that I had undertaken a 'life simplification' project and gotten rid of it all, and then forgot.

I woke up mid-explanation so thankfully I didn't have to see her disappointment.

27. Day 7 - January 1 -Libra
Edited on Fri Jan-01-10 09:20 AM by Sanity Claws
Early this morning, I dreamed that I had a large magic marker in my hand. I had to use it to put a period at the end of some words written on a wall. I then used the magic marker as a key and used it to open a big old-fashioned wooden door.
I think I figured this one out -- writing is my key to moving into a different place.

In a separate dream, I was asked my legal opinion about overtime pay for local government employees. Someone referred to an old Supreme Court case that I knew and I knew that it caused the city to pay millions in overtime wages. I had to research whether there were legislative changes since then. Somehow my father was involved in this but not sure how; maybe he was a recipient of the original overtime pay out. I was researching it at my law school library and was surprised at the groups of graduates who were still there and in touch with each other.
I haven't figured this one yet.

30. I had a bunch of weirdness
Edited on Fri Jan-01-10 09:52 AM by Angel Wings
But, of what I can remember, I was observing then apart of this group of kids who were involved in some type of intrigue and adventure. At the end, we found Christmas presents in draw that Santa had left us in a bedroom of house. We had defeated whatever the opposition was and this was our reward or what we had done allowed him to get through to do it or maybe both....hmmm

After that, I was somewhere about to sell someone a carpet. I work in a store but I don't sell carpet. I was waiting for the customer who was talking to someone on the phone ( like customers do) to complete the transaction. But, I was mainly admiring how beautiful the carpet was. It was actually rolled up in sack and the sack had embroidered on it the design the carpet had. It was a reddish tan on white design that was kind of tribal.

31. Weird dream of trying to rescue people
I dreamt that I was assisting someone in trying to rescue two people from the psych ward of the hospital associated with the university where I work (I don't work anywhere near the medical side). We were caught trying to rescue the first guy and let go with a warning then security was coming when we came back to rescue the second guy and though we escaped I left my old red jacket on the scene and was told by others that it would definitely give away my identity and I would loose my job and health care and become unemployable. I was frantic at the end of the dream and woke up and had to convince myself that none of it was real.

35. Day 7 - Better than Lawrence Livermore
In my dream I'm a physicist in a student or internship role at a laboratory.

I'm standing at a streetlight with a portfolio of artwork - annoyed that it's going to take me a half-hour to walk to the lab and I may be late. Up comes an old colleague (and friend, and ex lover) who's also a physicist and an artist. In fact, some of the work in my folder is his. I show him and we chat for a little bit, while the light takes its ever-loving time to change. I offer him a tour of my lab.

We tour the lab, and all of the other techs and scientists are women.

Now this point is really cool because when I did study physics in real life, there are so few women in the profession, and the women who do work in physics tend to be um, not taken so seriously, because it's assumed that they will have families rather than further their work or careers. My one female prof was worse than any of the men - while they were simply condescending, she was outright mean.

Later on my supervisor ('Dr Crusher' of Star Trek - I can't be ashamed, it's a dream) calls me to the phone. It's my friend, who offers me a job at Lawrence Livermore. I apologize, thank him and turn it down. When he asks why, I explain that working with other women is more valuable for my career and my project at this time than having to work twice as hard to prove my abilities to the men at LL.

37. My dreams: tax riots, or rather, protests demanding (it seemed like) higher taxes
Edited on Fri Jan-01-10 09:56 PM by BlueIris
to support local governmental programs. A lot of Native Americans were involved in these protests, not sure why. I was working at a battered woman's shelter in our city, and doing a lot of "rescue" work to get women out of abusive homes. I remember being shocked that one of the homes I visited was obviously a nice one in a solidly "middle class neighborhood," and then thinking how sad it was that I had assumed financially stable people couldn't have domestic violence problems.

President Obama made an appearance, albeit a strange one. He was following my car, on a bicycle, through a part of town that was under construction. When I stopped at a crosswalk to let some children pass, they recognized the President behind me and started doing what looked like an interpretive dance for him (I thought it looked like a celebratory "yay, he's here," type thing). I went through the intersection and the President stopped to say hello to the children. (Yeah; I don't know.)

48. Some fun stuff I found about rescue dreams:
Edited on Tue Jan-05-10 08:01 AM by BlueIris
http://www.unclesirbobby.org.uk/dreamdictionaryrescue.php

"RESCUE: Think of ways in which use the word rescue in real life. We all need to be rescued from a difficult situation. In some cases we do not want to be rescued because it shows weakness. In some cases we help others out and save them from an awkward situation.

QUESTIONS to help you make associations:

- Is there some situation where you are having to "make do" right now?
- Have you just started to realise that you need to escape some situation?
- Do you feel like you need rescuing in some way but do not want to appear weak to those around you?

KEY WORDS: Helping someone, admitting weakness, "making do"

KEY PHRASES:

- "The situation is not ideal but I will try my best"
- "They keep expecting help"
- "I need to escape this"
- "I need help but do not want to appear weak"

Interesting.

33. Day 4 - Cancer - Dec 29
I had another dream about a plane crash. I've had a lot of realistic dreams about being in plane crashes, but I never die in these dreams. This time I was going to NYC, and as the plane was crashing, I was thinking, 'Why do I even hop on these planes to NYC? I know they're going to crash!' I have actually flown to NYC before without incident. Anyway, I had a prior plane crash dream a few months ago where I was on board with my sister and nephew (my daugher wasn't there, which I found odd). The items I brought were a carryon and some weights. We were falling from the sky but the landing ended up being very smooth, considering. My daughter has since moved to New Zealand for a year and I've had some pretty dramatic life changes in the months after this dream - I did crash in some aspects in my life, but came out okay - much better than I should have, and have been able to turn my life around in some really key areas for the first time in many years.

39. Day 8 - Scorpio - Jan 2
Edited on Sat Jan-02-10 03:25 PM by BlueIris
The "Sex and the City" cast + murder mystery. The SatC women had gone into real estate, and I was there to help them with their work. Their most recent acquisition was a beautiful one story house in which an older woman had recently passed away. My job was to pick up intuitive vibes about the place. My vibes? The atmosphere in the house had been a hate-filled mess, and that the woman's death might not have been accidental, as we had been told.

It didn't help that a doctor working for the real estate company stopped by and mentioned that based on the police reports (the old woman had died after slipping in the shower, but had injuries not consistent with a fall) he thought there had been foul play. "If I were family, I wouldn't be comfortable accepting the official cause of death." This inspired us all to play detectives, and we eventually got a family member to admit that her relatives had her killed because she was giving away "their" money to people in need.

YUCK. That better not wind up having any real life connection to my Scorpio season this year.

41. Day 8 - Scorpio - Jan 2
Edited on Sun Jan-03-10 12:28 PM by liberalmuse
My first dream was due to the fact that I was unable to breathe while sleeping. I suspect I have some form of sleap apnea. It was a panic dream. It was Sunday, but I couldn't remember whether I worked or not since I hadn't looked at the schedule. This goes back to my teenage years when I worked at fast food. Panic. I've had these dreams many times before - or the school dreams where I didn't study for a test or have not gone to my classes for months. The last part of my dream was my wanting to go for a walk with my sister to get some fresh air so I could breathe, then I woke up.

I went back to sleep and was able to breathe this time. I dreamed that my sister, nephew and I made a surprise visit to New Zealand to see my daughter. When we pulled up to her house, she was in a car with a bunch of her friends leaving, and stopped when she saw us pull in the driveway. She got out and I thought she was happy and crying, but the next thing I knew, she was indifferent (that is so unlike my daughter who adores family and is very outgoing and friendly). She was just horrible and did not want us to come in her house and disturb her friends. We went in and there was this hideous pile carpeting in shades of brown from the 1970's. Some of her friends were still asleep on the floor. The furnishing was sparse, but this dream was very lucid so I could see every detail of the old-fashioned wooden table in the dining room, and there was a room that was a conversation pit (another thing from the '70's/'80's.) We finally left because she was so cold to us and decided to hook up with my sister's friend 'Maura' and explore both the North and the South Island, which is odd, because my sister does not have a friend named 'Maura' living in NZ. We were on our way to see her but as we were driving away from my daughter's place, I could see the houses and street vividly. The houses were gorgeous and very colorful. We ended up in this weird shop which looked like a head shop. Once I realized that, I saw a container full of magic mushrooms. I told my sister if we were going to explore the islands, we should take some of these with us to enhance our experience. She told me she had tried one magic mushroom once and a spirit had told her to start smoking (cigarettes). I used to smoke like a chimney years and years ago, so I assumed this was a bad spirit and the mushroom was not for her. Weird. I grabbed a handful for each of us anyway, debating on whether it was proper or not to bring some for my nephew, who is legal now. That's where my dream ended. Very odd.

I do think my perception of my daughter in this dream is due to our difficulty in communicating right now. The phone lines from Seattle to NZ are just awful. I have to hang up and call a few times to get a good connection. Also, I usually call when she's still sleeping, and woke her up the other day so she sounded groggy. I know she is partying (drinking & clubbing) with friends in the same way I did when I was her age, so I worry that she might get in with the wrong crowd, but she's shown many times that she isn't into the bad stuff. Still, I worry, and that showed up in the dream.

What I got from the dream is that 2010 feels really interesting to me so far, as if it is a start of a new and very exciting chapter. I don't know why I woke up with that feeling, but it was pretty new and optimistic, despite some of the more disturbing aspects of my dreams. It was the 'feel' of the dreams which I can't describe, not the actual storyline. The feeling was that 2010 was actually the start of the new age or century, not 2000 (or 2001 for the sticklers, LOL) - as if the first decade of the new century was just our purging our latent ugliness out before we could move forward.

42. This week in general...
my dreams have had a theme running through.
Having dreams of old boyfriends from junior high, high school and even my old pastor who is younger than me and i used to think was hot.
all of these guys had no relevance in my relationships REALLY, and they also were all guys i never had sex with.

and the dreams seem to be about resolution, saying things i never got to say, telling them off (releasing general man-hating?) and showing them they were 'wrong about me' etc...

no romance, no happy endings, just a rant or two and a situation where i had to be the one with the balls, and then it's over.

weird.

43. Day 9 - Sagittarius - Jan 3
A couple of distinct ones: one involved being in a shopping mall and being irritated that a) everything was still painfully reminiscent of '80s style, and b) overpriced. Coming to a blank space in the mall, an area under construction, and being told I was going to open a business there.

The other one involved traveling around in the Southwest--next to lots of deep canyons--could have been Utah. I think I was in an episode of "The X-Files." Scully had a new boyfriend, and for some reason Mulder didn't seem to mind.

44. I had many vivid dreams last night...Jan. 3rd.
Edited on Mon Jan-04-10 01:49 PM by JanusAscending
One of the most vivid was of me as a young girl taking a "shortcut" to school, complete in pleated skirt, sweater and neck scarf, as well as socks and penny loafers. My shortcut from home to school was by walking along the very rim of the Niagara falls...just skipping along like I had nothing in the world to fear. It was so vivid, it woke me up and I realized I was dreaming (phew!!) So I allowed myself to decide to remember this, and fell back to sleep and dreamed about something else that I can't quite recall!!! LOL I would also like some clarification...what is the difference between "vivid dreams" and "lucid dreams" ??? I've never quite understood this. I really haven't a clue what this dream represented. JA

45. Jan. 3
Nightmare of sorts. I was in a mall with MG Jr., and it was very early in the morning. My mom might have been with us as well. The stores weren't open yet, just the places in the food court. I was trying to buy a small carton of milk for MG Jr. but was having a heck of a time--it seemed that not even the coffee place had containers of milk for sale.

Then a bunch of police showed up and stood in a line. Other people ("bad guys") appeared across the food court. MG Jr. has always been fascinated by police, so we were near them. Then suddenly a firefight broke out, with machine guns (!) It was loud and bloody--blood spattered MG Jr.'s face as I tried to hug him/shield him/cover his face. Then I realized the red wasn't blood--it was fake, as were the guns. It turned out that the shootout was some promotional thing. Those of us who were witness to it were FURIOUS and demanded to know who was behind such a stupid stunt. I was worried that MG Jr. was scarred for life by what appeared to be a real shootout with real blood. Nobody would own up to who was in charge, and some other witnesses actually tried to chase some of the actors as they ran out of the mall to find out who they were reporting back to.

WEIRD.

Interestingly, my mom told me she also had an anxiety dream about MG Jr. last night, but in hers he was a small baby.

46. I find it interesting that you were looking for milk
Milk is nourishment direct from mother to child.

That next scene was awful.

47. Day 10 - Capricorn - Jan 4
These ones were weird. In the first one, I was wandering around my old residence (the one with Teh Evil roommates) and looking at gorgeous new furniture for my new home. For some reason, the furniture, including this gigantic, regal-looking bed, were on display in our neighbor's field behind us.

The second one involved me being stuck in a super extended version of an episode of "The West Wing," in which I was some kind of observer or low level staff member. We didn't have Jed Bartlet in my dream, though, and I didn't see President Obama, either. The guy in the Oval Office actually seemed younger than Barack Obama is, and was kinda...irritating. He was blonde, business like, and spent a lot of time snapping at people.

Not too much from "Aquarius" night, except moving around a lot, running errands, having what felt like a lot of responsibilities.

50. Day 12 - Pisces - Jan 6
Three: in the first, I was in a completely new city, looking at apartments close to a new job I'd taken there. I recall ruminating over the move, (it wasn't complete yet) would it be the right decision, would I like it there, etc., and recognizing that most of the opportunities I've passed on in life were only because they were outside the state of Oregon. I also remember thinking that the apartments I'd checked out were not in the greatest parts of town, but that I'd been willing to try to make them work because the rents were very low for the area (and close to my workplace).

The second dream involved running into a woman with a small child, who told me her toddler had recently indicated to a mass in her own (the child's) abdomen, and that the woman was "thinking" about taking the kid to the pediatrician. I immediately told the woman to take her daughter to a doctor ASAP.

Third: blech. Pregnancy dream. I have these periodically and hate them. They are almost always scary and inexplicable to me as I have never been pregnant and am not planning to be for a while (if ever.) In this one, I was about to have the baby, and conflicted about where to deliver; one place where my father works (which weird) and another facility I didn't like because it seemed run down, and understaffed.

Meh. If these dreams are prophetically significant for the upcoming year, it seems like my Libra and Scorpio months are going to be the most exciting.
