Advice?
Considering Merc RX, is it safe to buy cell phone? Mine on its way OUT, have to travel, and no other phone available.

1. Do what you have to do, Rx or no, but I personally would avoid
buying any new technology until it's gone direct again.

2. If you can hang on, I'd say to wait
Edited on Wed Jan-06-10 08:56 AM by MorningGlow
But then again, I'm scarred from my recent shopping excursions!

1) Mr. MG bought me a new microwave for Christmas. Turntable didn't turn. I just returned it and decided to wait till the post-shopping crowds died down to get a replacement.

2) Monday ran a ton of errands. Bought myself two new pairs of jeans with my birthday money (and store credit for returning ugly clothes my fundie Catholic Repub aunt bought me--she thinks everyone should dress like it's 1955). Didn't have time to repurchase the microwave; also forgot to measure MG Jr's new Top Gear poster and so couldn't buy a poster frame. Got home only to find that my favorite of the two pairs of jeans still had the security tag on them! Alarm at the door never went off.

3) Yesterday I went BACK to the mall (25 min. away) to get the security tag taken off my jeans (alarm at the door didn't go off again this time either). Bought a poster frame. Repurchased the microwave.

4) Got home to find the corner of the poster frame crunched and the acrylic shattered in that corner.

Not going back today. Nuh-uh. :D

I should, however, be pleased that the only thing that misbehaved out of all our Christmas presents was the microwave. Mr. MG and I ended up purchasing a lot of electronics this year and all the rest of them worked.

3. I'm waiting to buy a new cell for the same reason.
If you can wait, wait. It'll all fall in place after the 15th. My friend bought a new cell phone on the day that Mercury went Rx, the 26th. Dropped it in a puddle, had to go right back and get a replacement.

Apparently, NASA isn't afraid of it. They do many launches and landings of the shuttle during Rx. But, if you can wait, wait.
My 2 cents. :silly:
