Happy Imbolc!
Tonight is the eve of Imbolc, a wiccan/pagan/Celtic festival that more or less marks the mid-point between Yule and the Spring Equinox. The Goddess Bride or Brigid, who rules poetry, writing, inspiration, smithcraft and sacred wells, is honored at Imbolc (Feb. 1).

I was going to attend a ritual with a pagan circle tonight, but came down with a tummy virus. So I'll just light a white candle in Brigid's honor.

Blessings to all of you!

I just heard from a friend who is going to be working with me to create classes, etc with my mentor and drumming circles for me to lead... ...and he just asked me to re-do is website too! holy crap!
That either means we get free chiropractic for the rest of the year or I can rent his conference room for free for a few months!
who-hoo!
anybody get a "read" on this?

thanks for the good vibes! :grouphug:

17. Spring is a-coming!!
Every day brings us closer to spring. I noticed my neighbor's quince bush has flowered, and so have the flowering pear trees outside our local grocery store!

Blessed be!

18. Wow, what state do you live in?
There's not even a hint of a crocus in my yard yet. Here in Maryland we're expecting another 2 to 4 inches of snow tonight.

22. Oh No!
But you have all that lovely water. Come summertime I'll be wilting and you'll have floor-to-ceiling green.

A few years ago (because of this forum teaching me about ancient astronomy) I started seeing cross quarter days as the point when we start fading out of winter and into spring, like a color gradient. Every day brings us closer. The spring equinox is my all-time favorite holiday.

20. a friend sent this Spring blessing

As the Year Spiral Cycles...To All I send Greetings,

In the Celtic year, February 1st is the festival of the waxing light, and the beginning of Spring. The Celts called this holy day Brigid, after the Irish goddess of poetry, smithcraft, and healing. It is a time for individuation, initiation, making and renewing spiritual commitments to self and others. May our vows include every day active participation for healing of the earth, our sisters, and all Her children. Please include special prayers and support for the people of Haiti, to their healing and renewal as a nation.

INVOCATION TO BRIGIT

Brigid of the mantles,

Brigid of the peat-heap,

Brigid of the twining hair,

Brigid of the augury.

Brigid of the white feet,

Brigid of calmness,

Brigid of the white palms,

Brigid of the kine.

Each day and each night that I invoke Thee

I shall not be slain, I shall not be sworded,

I shall not be anguished, I shall not be left bare,

Nor wilt Thou leave me forgotten.

I am under the shielding of good Brigid each day;

I am under the shielding of good Brigid each night.

Brigid is my comrade-woman,

Brigid is my maker of song,

Brigid is my helping-woman,

My choicest of women, my guide.
