Don't EVER doubt that Miracles can and do happen
I've seen them in my own personal life (I'm sure we all have), but I've been seeing them in this Cindy Sheehan phenomenon as well.

Imagine: tens and even hundreds of thousands of us protested numerous times before the war and barely got ANY press coverage at all. Here's this one woman, this Gold Star Mother -- and some well-wishers and followers, of course -- getting a lot of media. Of course, times have changed and Bush poll numbers are down, and the stars are less favorable to him, but still.

Imagine: A situation in which Bush can't fully win no matter what he does. He meets with her and gives her credibility AND press; he doesn't meet with her and gives her credibility AND press and makes himself look like a fool. (I like it. Teehee.)

Imagine: A simple woman (with a whiny voice, even) who has the ability to speak the truth in such a way as to reduce things to their very nub with a clarity and power that takes MY breath away.

Imagine: Miracles happening on the ground in Crawford. I was moved to tears repeatedly in this one blog entry by her, and just had to share it:

The Peaceful Occupation of Crawford (Day 8): George Bush: you work for me

The Peaceful Occupation of Iraq (Day 8); WOW!!!

-- a message from Cindy Sheehan, Crawford, TX

http://www.michaelmoore.com/mustread/index.php

It is not often that Cindy Sheehan is at a loss for words. I will try and describe today, though. It was the most incredible, fantastic, fabulous, amazing, powerful, miraculous event I have ever been a part of. I was so humbled and honored at the outpouring of love and support that arrived in Camp Casey today.

It was a busy morning of interviews and problem solving. I had interviews with some network shows and a photo shoot for the Vanity Fair article. Almost all of the reporters ask me if I have accomplished anything at Camp Casey and I think we really have. We have brought the war onto the front pages of the newspapers and the top stories of the mainstream media. It is really incredible that we are doing so well in the media because I keep telling all of the reporters that I am doing their jobs. I am asking the tough questions of the President that they don’t ask.

We are also gathering people together in this country who believe that this war is a mistake and our troops should come home. I know people have been frustrated, either sitting on the fence or apathetically sitting on the sidelines. I know before Casey was killed, I didn’t think that one person could make a difference in the world. Now I know that isn’t true. Not only can one person make a difference, but one person, with millions behind her can make history. I really believe that this movement that began in Crawford, Texas (does the irony escape anyone) is going to grow and grow and transform the world. Like I said last night in my blog: hope is blossoming in Crawford, because WE have the power.

The CBS reporter whom I met last Saturday when I began this Holy War against the War of Terrorism that George Bush is waging on the world told me that he has interviewed me 4 times this week already. He told me that he has never, ever interviewed anyone 4 times, let alone four times in one week. I was joking with the reporters that were here last week that they should have brought me flowers on our one week anniversary.

The most fantabulistic (I needed a new word, none of the old ones fit) thing happened in Crawford today. There was a very insignificant counter-protest across the way. At first the Sheriffs let them stand in the street, until we politely pointed out to the Sheriffs that we had to stay in the ditch last week. So they made them move into the ditch. Since we are supposedly in Bush country, the counter protest was so small and weak. They had signs that said “Stay the Course.” I appreciated that. I really believe they were telling me to stay the course. I will.

We also met a man whose son was KIA in Iraq in November of 2004. He still loves George Bush and thinks we are doing great things in Iraq. By the end of the day we were drinking beer together and telling each other “I love you.” I am telling you miracles are happening here in Crawford.

Anyway, back to the fantabulistic thing that happened today. We had a rally downtown in Crawford. Then the people caravanned up to Camp Casey. I was told to come down to the point of the triangle to greet them. While I was walking down to the point, I had a great view of Prairie Chapel Road. There was car, after car, after car!!! I started sobbing and I felt like collapsing. The cars kept on coming. It took almost a full hour for them to all get to Camp Casey, it was a miraculous sight to see. It was identical to Field of Dreams.

People came from all over the country to be here. We are building a movement and they are coming.

We don’t have a full count of all the people who were there, but I would say hundreds. It was amazing and awesome. I felt the spirits of all of our needlessly killed loved ones in the presence of Camp Casey. I felt their strength and the wisdom of the ages with me in that wonderful place.

Today was George Bush’s accountability moment, and he lost. Two young ladies from San Diego drove all night to get to the rally and they had to leave tonight to get back home. One of them said: “Wow, we can drive all the way from San Diego just to meet you and he can’t even come down to the end of his driveway to meet with you.”

George Bush: you work for me. I pay your salary. Come out and talk to me. Anyway, I have a feeling you are about to be fired!!!

1. I agree with you Eloriel...I am in such utter joy about this!
It is a miracle....

Truth and love and going with what your heart tells you to do can topple a small lying narrow fearfilled man...I am just filled to bursting with such light and joy and LOVE for these people I feel I could literally explode from joy. Such a huge huge shift from my state of worry and fear from last night.

It IS a miracle...it feels like such an INCREDIBLE shift has been made. I want to dance and laugh and cry all at the same time.

Thank you Cindy Sheehan and everyone ...you are all O8)

No matter what happens next...the shift has been made and we will not allow it to be undone.

4. Can't help myself -- here's another that mentions "miracles"
as well:

Tim Goodrich (HuffPost): An Update from Camp Casey

I can barely see as I type this because I am extremely exhausted. Today was a phenomenal day at Camp Casey. The day started off with a rally near the Crawford Peace House in which members of Military Families Speak Out, Gold Star Families for Peace, Veterans for Peace, and Iraq Veterans Against the War spoke. A crowd of approximately 1,000 attended, shouting and clapping wildly as the speakers took the stage and delivered their message.

After the morning rally, everybody regrouped outside Camp Casey. On their way in, they were greeted by Cindy Sheehan and members of the other groups. While we were greeting the newly arrived, we looked up the road and realized that the line of cars stretched farther than the eye could see and around the corner. It was as if we were looking at a "field of dreams". We later learned that the line stretched for miles. It was a beautiful sight to be seen and it brought tears to the eyes of many.

Throughout the day, more people continued to appear. By the end of the day, several thousand people, including soldiers from Fort Hood, had made their way to Camp Casey to show their support. Many of these visitors stopped to talk to the members of IVAW, thanking them for their service and their stance against the war. While speaking with many of the visitors, I began to see the scope of Camp Casey. In my conversations, I spoke with people from Little Rock, Kansas City, Atlanta, Oklahoma City, and San Diego, just to name a few. As a sign of the growing movement, we've learned that another Camp Casey was set up in Chico, California. As you read this, please think about the power of multiple Camp Caseys being established all across the United States. The power is with the people, and with everybody's help, we will get one step closer to ending the occupation of Iraq.

5. More to this phenomenon than meets the eye
I've written the editors of Time and Newsweek to feature the stories that are coming out of Camp Casey. I sent them the reference to the one with the man in the pickup who didn't believe in the protest at Camp Casey but who wanted to know if his son had a cross. I am going to write again with references to some of these stories on this thread.

Since we like to discuss symbolism in this forum, I am copying and pasting a post I put on the Will Pitt thread:

The irony of the ditch

What power they (Texas law enforcement) handed Cindy when they confined her to a ditch. The contrast between a ditch and a big black SUV or a Western White House "ranch" or Air Force One is just too powerful. What a metaphor this ditch is.

She is physically in the ditch but she's really in the catbird seat. He physically cavorts with the most splendiferous symbols of power but he's really in the ditch.

And don't you just love the irony of bush heading to The Broken Spoke Ranch for his fundraiser? If there was ever a "slogan" for bush's presidency, it's "the broken spoke."

This administration, which so depends on marketing and PR--the way the word is "spoken," --has run out of credibility. No longer can slick PR and marketing and lies and costumes and all the rest in their bag of tricks save them. The spoke...broke.

6. It really is amazing
All the positive energy. Only other time I've felt energy like this is with the last election. I still know we won that but this is amazing in it's own right. I have been sensing dejavu a lot and I think this was supposed to happen. I was told by Lady Hectae that the powers that be want Bush to get out of Iraq and clean up a mess he did for once in his life. Will it happen? Possibly with the help of Ms. Sheehan. With her you feel this really great energy. The only other person I've ever felt this type of energy with was John Kerry. I believe Ms. Sheehan, like John Kerry, is helping to create history. From the "Going UpRiver": Some are changed by history, other's change history.

In a weird way, I suppose we should be grateful that whoever the fools are advising him are making it so easy for the peace people to prove their point. What a perfect way to get attention for this cause.

He is so stupid as to not come out and talk. A few minutes worth of conversation last week would have deflated the whole thing.

Thank god & goddess for providing him with enough fear and cowardice (or is that just lack of common sense) to help prove our point.

Ironic, huh?

And his poll numbers are amazing aren't they? :D Hehehe. It's nice cause Bush is supposed to be some "popular" president. :eyes: Yeah, right.

9. Totally Agree
we are at a very important crossroads here.

Also - I think its pretty amazing that Israel is pulling out of the Gaza strip - there is that tearing away, eroding away of the negative to clear the way for the positive.

12. I love Cindy but it is NOT a miracle!
This is all about good timing. All the other protests were at a time when Bush's popularity was high and people supported the War. His ratings are plummeting and the casualties are mounting. The time is right for a protester such as Cindy. She wouldn't have been covered a year ago.

13. I kind of agree with that, and kind of disagree... here's why:
Edited on Wed Aug-17-05 02:34 AM by loudsue
You're absolutely correct that, as the polls were reported as higher, the news wouldn't have covered it.

However....it's not just that the news is covering this: It's that it's blowing bush away, on a personal level. That, to me, is the miracle.

The old song: "Under My Thumb" comes to mind here, and whatever the magical karmic relationship between shrub & Cindy, the fact that she IS "Saturn" (the teacher), IN HIS FACE, as Saturn crosses his ascendant and the planets placed there, is what is so magical.

Then, you have to start adding in the miracles taking place AT Camp Casey. You have these nitwit freepers getting together chanting "We Don't CARE", and at some point, the "protesters" (as they're being called) are just holding up a mirror of sorts, and showing them their own hypocrisy.

Meanwhile, the shrub is supposed to be on vacation, and he can't clear brush comfortably, because he has this SATURN right in his face! He has to take a helicopter here or there, or his caravan speeds past the peace activists, with the crosses planted, as far as the eye can see. The guy is getting NO vacation! So, today we hear that he's heading for IDAHO for two days, and nobody on his staff knows why he's going there, or when he made plans to go. So...he appears, prolly even to himself, like he's running away.

Then you have this redneck realtor from Wacko Waco come along in his pickup truck, and, in the dead of night, mows down a whole row of memorial crosses naming the war dead! If THAT wasn't a gift, showing the right-leaning citizens the result of right wing hate-talk-up radio & tv, I don't know what is. Yes, the fact that it got some news coverage helped, but the internet pretty well got that one spread around. That man gave us a major gift! O8)

In the big meantime, the dude who was firing shots in the air at Camp Casey the other day, has a cousin that doesn't like him, and who agrees with Cindy. This cousin also owns land CLOSER to the boosh ranch, and right across the street from his church! O8) He has 180 acres that he says Camp Casey can use. Another miracle! O8)

Then, lo & behold, JOAN BAEZ announces she's going to go down and do a concert for Cindy! It wouldn't have been too feasible in the ditches on the road, but sure enough, this ranch comes open. Perfect for a JOAN BAEZ concert! O8)

So, now, DUers with "connections" are calling up all the old Woodstock stars, Bob Dylan, Arlo Guthrie, etc. So, this whole thing could possibly turn into a real live SHOWTIME, even if the others DON'T show up...simply because Joan Baez IS going to show.

The news has played a part in this, but they've also been spinning it quite a bit, as per Rove's dictates. But the GOOD message is taking hold, in spite of the "news", not because of it.

I think that's a good number of miracles. And this is what Nancy Waterman and others have been telling us about Saturn on the Ascendant: it's IN YOUR FACE. And boosh is having a double dose of it. Even if he runs away to Idaho, when he comes home from "getting on with his life", he'll only see the SATURN IN HIS FACE has multiplied, and moved closer.

It's turning into the "perfect storm", but in a very gentle, low-key way. He can't very well call out the goon squads on 'em, now, can he? He's already sent in his disruptors to try to start trouble, and they couldn't.

It may not be a "Michael Jackson" or "Lacy Peterson" 24/7 news story. But the big story is what it is doing to the (already questionable) mind of the very unstable boosh, under the news radar. He's being called on his bushit, and there is NOTHING he can do about it.

:bounce: I think it's a LOT of miracles!

14. Okay, It's a "miracle" that any Dem took advantage of the timing!
And we all notice it wasn't a politico! What makes me sick is all the RW spin about an "agenda " and her taking "advantage' of this situation. She is so effective precisely because she has nothing to personally gain. She is a true heroine.
