Wish me luck, found a job that I REALLY REALLY WANT
Only thing is the ad was placed on April 8th. I think this would be an excellent opportunity. And the extra bonus is it's less then 5 miles from my house :wow:

It didn't state how much it pays, but at this point anything would be great. My laptop is on the brink of no return.

I also need several thousand dollars worth of dental care. We had discussed going to Costa Rica to get everything done that needs to be done. That would be another dream come true.

Anyway, I got excited about finding this ad. Hopefully it hasn't been filled and I become the Photoshop "Guru" they are needing.

11. Bless You, Kind of Blue
You truly are a Kind Soul!

I have been having trouble connecting to the cyber world. That's only a small problem compared to the other serious issues with said laptop. I suppose I should have just kept my 15" that was bought brand new, instead of this 17" that was bought off craigslist. The issues with this computer keeps getting worse by the day.

5. I hope you get this job if it's one you really want.
Just because it has been posted for a week does not necessarily mean that they've already filled it. Lots of times companies will leave jobs posted for at least that long (or longer) before they even begin the interviewing process.

I'm wishing you abundance in all things!!!

21. Don't worry about the posting date...
especially since many of these places are taking longer to get all the resumes together...

Try the affirmation of 'act as-if' ... act AS IF it is already YOURS. Think about getting up in the morning and getting ready for work, start getting things in order like your lunchbox, etc ;) it may sound goofy, but it could help raise your internal vibration to match the vibration of the job...

good luck manifesting!

31. Update: sent my resume via email
Sent it in the wee hours this morning. I check my email often, and there was an auto response. "Oh NOES, does this mean I won't even get an interview?!?!?" That is not what it means at all as far as I know. The auto message was the owner was on vacation and will be back next week. He did mention that he will be checking his email during the night so perhaps he will contact me to set up an interview upon his return.

I again would like to Thank each of you for offering your support and Wonderful VIBES. I truly appreciate them :grouphug:

46. Latest Update
Like I mentioned this location is on my way to the major downtown area. So last night I drove by there on my way to our friend and clients house. We get together quite a bit when he's back in town as he goes to Russia a lot.

Anyway on the way back home I ask hubby if he objected to me driving past it. He didn't mind. So, at the red light instead of turning at my usual left hand turn, I drove straight and there it was right there, I just had to let my car drive into the parking lot to experience what it will be like, to get a sense for it. We left and headed back home, and I zeroed out my mileage and it is around 3 miles from my house.

I also called the shop today just to make sure that the interview process will take place upon the owners arrival back home. He told me this was correct. I also told him I had been using Photoshop since 2.0, and was currently using 8.0, he seemed impressed. Hopefully I will get an interview next week. Crossing fingers!

50. FINAL UPDATE:
I didn't even get an interview

I called earlier today and spoke with the man hiring. I asked if the position had been filled and he told me that yes indeed it had. I let him know that I have been using Photoshop since 2.5, he apologized again and we hung up.

Funny thing while waiting to find out if I was going to get an interview, I decided that I am not a "guru" but more along the lines of a Photoshop Alchemist. Photoshop is my lab, where I make most ALL of my discoveries

Thanks to ALL my dear ASAH friends. I really appreciated everyone's effort with your well wishes, juju vibes, and other modes of support.

51. I am so sorry MM!
You know what hit me today was an email I got from Liz Tobin regarding a repatterning session that is coming up. (paid) tomorrow Thursday 4/29. Further info on her website.

But the important thing was in her message. I grew up being told to be humble and modest, so I did end up rather shy, and seeing it written out like this, thought wow - that's me.

and here it is:

I recently listened to a radio show about the disparity in earning power between men and women. What piqued my interest was when a father called in and recounted the story of his daughter who is very competent in her job and consistently receives emails from her clients thanking her for delivering ahead of schedule and exceeding their expectations. The father's concern was that his daughter isn't writing her "brag book" and this may be hurting her economically.

This was the first I'd heard of a brag book, so I did a little research and found out that a brag book is a binder you put together to document your accomplishments and then you can use this information in job interviews, salary negotiations, and employee reviews. One employment recruiter says that a brag book can be very persuasive in the hiring interview if you present it right. Your brag book helps you demonstrate your level of initiative, professionalism, organization, and skill set. This same recruiter said she was shocked to learn that she had been sending one of her clients out on job interviews and he'd only presented his brag book once, and that was only because the hiring manager had asked to see it. Now of course tooting your own horn has its appropriate time and place and as the saying goes, nobody likes a braggart. But surely in job interviews and salary negotiations aren't you expected to show people proof of what you can do?

Both of these stories describe a common problem that I have helped people to overcome. You see, many people feel uncomfortable acknowledging their achievements -- even when it is appropriate and expected. I can't tell you how many people minimize their accomplishments and aren't even aware of how this affects their level of success at work and the quality of their relationships. The root cause is that deep down they are not resonating with acknowledgment. We all need acknowledgment. It's a basic life need that's one of the essential building blocks for good self-esteem.

So, how can you tell if you're not resonating with acknowledgment? If you find yourself minimizing your accomplishments or deflecting a compliment, chances are you're out of alignment with acknowledgment. This can show up as denying or minimizing your needs. In fact, you may not even be aware of your true needs and feelings. Unacknowledged needs and suppressed emotions become your unconscious drivers. Personal strengths move into your shadow and become inaccessible. This disconnection is the breeding ground for self-sabotage, self-doubt, and self-denial.

If you see yourself in any of this, then join this month's proxy group Repatterning for Acknowledgment. It's designed to move you into resonance with acknowledgment so you can feel worthy, valued and good enough to access your inner resources and use them to create your ultimate well-being!

Very good information in it. I did a search for portfolios the other day and came across something similar, but it was more about how and what you need for job interviews. They called them career portfolios. They both sound like the same concept.

Funny / Sad thing is I do have a couple letters of recommendations but have misplaced them. They were in the room I have been cleaning out and I came across them but now I can't remember where I put them. I'll continue to look for them. And I guess I'll start collecting a Career Portfolio / Brag Book for future prospects.

I suppose we are alike in the regard of being shy and humble.

It's amazing the other day I was looking through some of my art work preparing to make a portfolio CD. I came across a pic I had started and actually cried that it was so beautiful and how "I" created it and yet I never think of my work as such. I always have that self doubt about my skills. However, when I post my work here I'm overwhelmed by the support I receive.

Once again, Thank You rumple for the support and link, I'll definitely check it out.

53. Oh, I'm very sorry to hear this.
My mom used to say every disappointment is a blessing and in this one, I think your message to Universe was loud and clear - I believe you've put into motion the kind of work you'd like to do for compensation! And perhaps, the perks that come with it - like being close to home. I just feel that this is just the beginning and a matter of fine tuning the goal. Perhaps seeing the ad a little too late is a "message/coincidence" the Universe sent to stir your soul for something even better that needs help coming through.

That is a very intelligent way to view this. Even though I was disappointed in the outcome, I do think that there is a better opportunity waiting around the corner. Hell, I don't even know how much they were willing to pay their "guru", so it could indeed be a blessing in disguised.

Thank you for ALL the hugs. I will return the favor :hug::hug::hug:

55. Awww. So sorry to hear this, MM.
Well, just think of it this way--the job may have sounded good, but if they couldn't tweak to the fact that you've been using PS since version 2.5 and didn't want to know more talking with you face to face, maybe they wouldn't have been the greatest to work for. This isn't sour grapes--I've found it proven out again and again whenever I was up for jobs. If they don't pay attention to detail, or if there's a breakdown in communication, like if some information doesn't get passed along--in this case from the person you talked to, to the person who chooses which candidates to interview--then the employer has some fundamental flaws.

So say "Fie on them!" and move on to find the job that you ARE meant to have.

I can also add something to Rumpel's information about brag books--double-check your cover letter/e-mail. It's usually the "first impression" a potential employer gets of you, so you have to make yourself sound FANTASTIC. And because we've always been taught to be modest (women in particular), we have the hardest time bragging about ourselves. Too many people have a cover letter that consists of "I'm applying for the job you advertised. I have extensive experience (maybe some examples here). Looking forward to hearing from you." But instead you need to SELL yourself and sound so confident it's as if you have the job already. Really hard to do.

If you ever want some feedback about your resume and/or cover letter, PM me. I'd be happy to take a look! :hi:

63. Thanks BlueIris
I can't say for certain that they suck, but not getting an opportunity to have an interview certainly does. Sucks BIG TIME!

58. I am so sorry MM
I recently applied for a job that I really wanted. I got a rejection email less than 24 hours after applying.
It's tough out there.

We just have to keep plugging away.

60. It would appear to be the wrong company.
=I= can see how wonderful your Photoshop work is, so why can't they? There is obviously a better job out there with people who will see your mojo...hang in there...

65. Well in all honesty, I didn't even get to show them my work
Hopefully something better will come along. I appreciate ALL you kindness have shown to me regarding my Photoshop skills.

I think I actually helped you one of your pieces of art work quite a while ago, I just checked my files 12.21.07. This was when you were known as Peake.

66. Ah, my question about learning layers...
Such a newbie I was/am

So there it is. If they didn't see your work, they can't know that you rock. Their loss. Sorry that their loss affects you (momentarily).

68. The Evolution of Photoshop
has been a very interesting ride, that's for sure. I just wished they gave you multiple undos like AI, instead of the work around solution. Or adding the filters to the Layer Palette, that would be so awesome. Of course they could have updated to my vision, since I'm only working in 8.

67. Hi MM
I replied upthread some (replied to the wrong thing) that I feel that this company already had someone else in mind for the job, but were forced to post it. I'm picking up that they didn't look at anyone's portfolio, because it was never their intention to hire anyone else from the beginning.

Your job is coming. I know that.

69. Ya know I think you could be right on about this
I just checked CL again and the ad is still up. What a horrible thing to do to people looking for work, seeing this ad and thinking they may have a chance at finding work.

Thank you for your insight

70. Errr, isn't that also illegal?
I thought employers were required by law to remove job listings once a position has been filled...? Maybe somebody else here knows the ins and outs of this sort of thing?

71. That's the way they're supposed to do it,
but it's not tightly policed really. If someone calls them on it, they'll take the posting down.

Sounds like a sketchy place anyway (no pun intended).
