How's that Mercury Retro workin' out for ya?
I'm sitting here feeling that stop/start hurry up & wait bullshit and it dawned on me that we are in the middle of merc retro!

duh! No wonder I can't seem to get my ass moving forward, and I seem to be going around in cirles with my own to-do lists...

Still, doing the grounding & clearing daily keeps my head mostly above water. But I may need a day at the hot springs soon!

Anyone else feeling freaky right now?

..and hey, Astrologers...what ELSE is retro or harshly angled right now? will May be an easiier month?

(I hope so, I told myself I was taking a 'spiritual vacation' next month -so I can relax and stop working on all these damn deep ISSUES! )

1. Oh lawdy! and a meeting with the Publisher tomorrow now...
I just got a message from the co-editor of the newspaper project I have been looking forward to. It is set to launch in late may/early june, so I will be buidling up my cred and learning the local storylines over the next couple weeks...ACK!
Tomorrow is another meeting with the publisher to discuss things I should already be abreast of...

oh dear. and what about a CONTRACT????!!!!

my brain is going fuzzy with so much to think about...I am saying over & over in my head..."Oh shit, i didn't do *that*!" "oh shit, I forgot about *that*!!!"

this is also about me stepping into my power...so the idea of REALLY doing this and it not being a false alarm, is freaking me out a bit...

breathe!

that you are wisely using this Mercury Retrograde (even if not on purpose) to find out these things you forgot or didn't do.

You also said something important: BREATHE!!!

5. what's tough is that
as much as I am dealing with the superficial communication and inormation stuff...I am also trudging through HUGE ego issues

fear of failure and not wanting to let people down so don't even TRY and what if i suck and what if i am just not able to be as smart as they think i am... blahblahblah
These statements may seem trite at first glance, but each one has it's own gut wrenching truths and stories behind it. And I have to SHED those false beliefs in myself to embrace what I KNOW I am capable of...

but right now, i am feeling a little like a very small piglet, scared and unsure...

7. Oh, I know the feeling, me too. Do you know where Chiron is in your chart?
Right now I've got Saturn kicking my butt, with Mars right behind, and Chiron is retro in Pisces in the 3rd house which is exactly what I've got on my natal chart. Chiron is activating a lot of areas of hurt for me and and I'm not feeling like I'm in a healing place at all.

Since last month I've had feelings of "This life hasn't turned out at all the way I wanted; I'm ready for the next one," and feeling that if I were to be diagnosed with cancer I wouldn't want to fight it, and just get out of this life ASAP.

Hang in there and here's a hug.

but I'll send you some hugs back and know that at least the lines of love & friendship are not crossed here!

I lknow that feeling about life not being like your 'plans' I have had to dredge through some of that too. My *core issue for the month* was about "the drama created to get power or give the illusion of power" and where I have chosen to bury my head in the sand and not TRY because I am afraid of my own power... like it is *so* much easier to struggle, right?

oh well, at least this to shall pass, we will be in a better space in a few more months, and then it will get cloudy again, and so on...

No thank you! :)

(For me, same old, same old. The Klown "managing" the sober living in which I reside, yesterday made it clear that he has a specific vendetta against me, and of course, against anyone who dares to challenge him at any level...KONTROL freak. The office of the houses is trying to figure out if I'm the problem of if he is. Slaps forehead...yeah, sounds like Mercury Retro.)

On the fun side of things, I'm feeling pretty good about having helped a few people in the readings I've been doing/trying to do throughout this mess. Great stuff, great people. And in the last two days, I've been visited by honeybees. Yesterday, one landed in the center of my chest, where the heart chakra lies. I won't make any metaphors about that...and today, one landed just left of my heart, and later, one landed at the tip of my shoe, as I sat reading; happily groomed itself and happily flew off. I've said that you'll Know when an animal encounter is meaningful; sometimes you are MADE to know :) Hello bees! May you always find the flowers :)

Hope all goes well for you FL, with grace and ease!

Edit: Speaking of "Retro", I spotted a piece of audio gear out on a lawn, and lo and behold, it's an 8-Track tape player, an old Dokorder. Ha! No space-age bachelor pad is complete without one (yes, I have a large lava lamp as well, but so far, no velvet smoking jacket.)

Hang in there with your housing sitch- I think the less you say the better .. the truth will reveal itself. I see this guy as a big talker and merc retro could help him talk himself into a corner with the Mgmt co. *fingers crossed for you!*

and I love that you found an 8-track...!We used to have one in our station wagon for sure! with John denver tapes!
I am hoping to find an old stereo at a garage sale this year, a turntable with a tuner & tape like my mom used to have in the 70's...omg, she used to play christmas carols and glenn campbell and nat king cole... i miss that ;) (much better than my teen listening : depeche mode, wham, B-52's, Dead Kennedys)

Check eBay for vintage stereo gear; some of it is reasonably priced. If not, see your local Salvation Army/Goodwill/Thrift Store/Craigslist...

It turns out that the Dokorder is true quad capable, with four line level and four speaker outputs. If I can find some quad tapes (and four speakers), I can turn on the wave machine and light up the blacklight velvet posters

:hi:

Mmmmm, Nat King Cole/Dead Kennedies/Depeche Mode/B52s :)

Sorry, I am most definitely NOT at wham fan!!! (machine gun emoticon) I had a program ID tape I'd made when I was on college radio, which featured "Wake me up" getting the needle ripped back and forth across it, fading to the sound of many machine guns...ah, lovely

17. it SUX -- my laboratory math book disappeared
I had it with me at class on Thursday. Somehow it wasn't in my bookbag when I emptied that out Friday morning. Fight with admin at the school yesterday morning, when I called and asked if the building would be open Saturday so I could get my book. So I was going to leave for work early Friday to make extra trip to the school, and the dogs, picking up on my craziness, ran away from home

They ran into the woods and went all the way past the marsh pond. But I didn't know which way they'd gone (I was putting the horses in for the night, so had my back turned all of about 2 minutes). I was afraid they'd run to the *evil* neighbor's house.

So I ran through the woods toward the *evil* neighbor's and got tangled up in barbed wire :dunce: I managed to get *both* my legs hooked. The right one luckily was just hooked on the boot. The left one got all cut up. I almost lost my balance and fell into the barbed wire. :o Luckily I had a tetanus shot just a few weeks ago. :o

Man, barbed wire is hard to get free from. It kept sticking to *everything*. Anywho, obviously I finally freed myself and hobbled through the woods and sneaked a peak at the neighbors back yard -- no dogs!

I ran back home where I found Luna. I asked him to take me to Jake. He took me to the marsh pond. I gave up and headed home. When Luna wouldn't come with me and instead ran the other way, I broke down sobbing, and stumbled home. There, I was greeted by Luna and Jake at the front door! :wtf:

They were very happy and excited over their grand adventure. I was not. I barely made it to work on time.

I swung by the school this morning -- as I suspected the building was OPEN. But my book was nowhere to be found. The ninny at the office must have taken it out of the lost-and-found box in front of the office area. So now I have no idea where my book is.

Oh, and we have an exam this week....

also, I just balanced my checkbook. Not looking good. Not good at all. :(

Edited on Sat Apr-24-10 03:06 PM by MorningGlow
Sorry you went through all that, NL.

So far it's been fairly quiet here. My watch fell off my wrist one afternoon last week, which was totally weird, because it's the leather strap-buckling kind and I've had it for years and it's never done that. Luckily I found it only a few moments later up against the curb at my son's school.

Other than that, nothing much. I'm eyeballing a riding mower a neighbor has for sale in their front yard, but I'm afraid to buy it during Merc Ret. But I really want one--now that the yard is all seeded, it takes ages to mow it with a push mower.

19. this is the 1st bad merc retro I've had in a while
For many years, they were the normal 'puter issues. Then I had some "gran mal" merc retros -- my property trashed by bulldozer type. Then for the past several years they've been pretty tame.

This one is pretty sucky, though.

Gee, my neighbor across the street just put *his* lawn mower up for sale. Hang on...it'll probably still be there in a couple weeks. If not, a better one will be waiting.

Speaking of which, I need to mow today with my push mower. While I still can...

20. Burglary.
We were burglarized on Friday, can you believe it? My husband had a call from a credit card company at 9:00 that morning about suspicious activity, and it didn't cross our minds that someone had been in our house and stolen the cards. We went home at lunch and found the mess.

The blessings began crossing my mind immediately: They didn't get the jewelry. We found it early enough to have the police over and the mess cleaned up before our son came home. The event gave my husband and I something to focus our energies on together, creating a break in the tension between us. We had no television or stereo equipment to lose. The computer is a big bummer with financial records and five years of photographs, but they may be saved to the hard drive.

We were burglarized eight years ago. Lost my computer, his stereo equipment and enormous music library, jewelry, cameras, cash. The computer loss hit me particularly hard as it had all of my writing on it, and I had recently finished my masters. That loss was one in a series of losses and significant changes that year, and I went into a tailspin of depression.

I promised myself on Friday that I would not do that again. I told myself that I could experience the loss, and feel the anger and violation, then I could let those feelings go. And I did; when they return, I do it again.

Good idea. Consciously choose to experience it and then consciously choose to let it go...

24. So sorry to hear that, dora
but you seem to really have a great grip on the process and the lesson of it all.
So kudos to you for staying conscious in the face of adversity... :applause:

It's so hard for me to understand the concept of being robbed. I live in such a rural area that I often don't lock doors to the car or the house...me & the neighbors all watch out for eachother too... maybe it is the mountain town mentality, maybe it is the fact that I don't think anything of Mine is worth anything...people can find a *much* nicer TV in a different part of town, lol

what's even weirder is that I grew up in Oakland, CA...and we were VERY conscious of people and safety, etc(much more fear based)...but since moving here i just let that whole concept go. and in 18 years i haven't had one issue.

Maybe it doesn't exist in my reality because I don't give it energy? maybe I'm just lucky.
just thought I'd share
 glad you and the family are SAFE, that is what counts.

25. How about this one:
Starting yesterday afternoon around 2 pm, my satellite remote started going flaky on me. I couldn't get it to remain on the guide, couldn't get it to obey most of my commands and then saw it was recording shows I'd never set up, including one on Fox News! Turns out, my neighbor below also has Dish Network and our remotes were on the same frequencies. I didn't mention the stuff about Fox or some horror movie that was being recorded as you never know with people. They can still be nice folks, even if they're uninformed ;)

She came to the door asking me if I was having that problem with my remote, and called Dish to get that taken care of. However, she never got back to me if she had, so I decided to wait a couple of hours and go online.

I found couldn't connect to the Internet or get email. Reset my DSL modem but that didn't help, so I checked the phone line. Dead. No dial tone. My bill is an autopay, so it wasn't suspended for not paying. My cell phone battery is slowly going bad (the phone is at least 8 years old now) so it had to go on the charger before I could phone in for line-repair. So, I went out to see if any of my neighbors had their lines dead, too, like it was a neighborhood problem. I took that moment to ask my neighbor if she had gotten the remote issue taken care of and she had, so I also asked if her phone service was working. As a matter of fact, it was and had just been turned on a couple of hours prior. Right. The service tech had somehow disconnected mine while connecting hers. Great.

So, with barely enough charge on the cell, I went through the voice-mail-only system for AT&T Service and got a service (whatever they call those things) call for today. Again, right. That is, they'd be there between 8am and 5pm. Really now, is it so difficult to figure out a set time near one or two hours instead of sometime over the whole day? I've been trying to reset my internal clock so I've been awake since yesterday afternoon, unsure if I could wake up in time today, so I just stayed up. The service tech called at 10am and had it fixed by 2pm. I thanked him, got back online, yet still didn't do much more than retrieve emails and look at the news here.

I will be very happy to get to sleep soon...

29. Power went out in my mom's suburb a few nights ago
Affected her and my aunt, who's several miles away (different zip code but same suburb). In both their houses, appliances came ON--I think when the power was restored--my mom's alarm clock, which she never sets in the first place, and my aunt's TV. (Neither one was on when the power went out.) My aunt thought someone had broken into her house when the TV came on at 6 a.m. Well shit yeah I'd be scared too--she's hard of hearing, so the volume is always blasting, and she ONLY watches Fox News!
:scared:

Had my snow tires taken off my Jeep a couple of weeks ago and now that I have my summer tires on, I've got a shimmy at 60 or 61mph. But just yesterday it went to a whole new level of weird--I was driving MG Jr. home from the dentist, was switching lanes on the highway, and WOOGA WOOGA WOOGA the whole car started to shake so bad I thought it was going to fall to pieces. I pulled over and got out--no flat tire, didn't run over anything, nothing looked amiss. Carefully got back on the road and it never did it again. Still, I stopped at my garage in the afternoon to see if they could detect anything. The only thing the mechanic could suggest is that two of my tires are pretty old and wobbled when he realigned them.

So if you'll all excuse me, I'm off to the garage to get two new tires before the ol' Jeep falls apart around me as I sit in the driver's seat like some old Looney Toons cartoon! :hi:

I'm sure the bad tires were the cause of the wobble. They happened to hit just the right resonance together. Good thing you were able to steer it off the road.

Could have been worse, though. They could have been going wakka chikka wakka chikka

Hoo boy.

I nearly fell out of my chair last week when an ex-boyfriend of 15 years ago friended me.

I thought we parted on bad terms and I don't know what it all means but I've been overwhelmed with memories of our relationship since then (both good and bad) and have been reflecting on a lot of things. Not at all what I expected to have on my plate this April.

39. When does it end??
I'd like to know. Everything I'm doing with Active Directory (Win Server 08) has been a total PITA the last few days.

41. Almost....there.... aaagh!
Edited on Thu Apr-29-10 10:19 AM by FirstLight
Feels like crawling across the desert to the oasis/mirage....doesn't it? THICK

Except up here in the Sierras, the SNOW is the culprit for slowing things down!

We *just* started little league ...now for me this is a big step, I am getting used to being a 'joiner' once more for the sake of my kids. And it can be fun it it's own way. I was almost weepy when Devin made the first out by covering 1st base, lol ;)

So the weather is just crazy...65 one day and blizzarding the next... we have essentially "lost" 4 days this week, and Opening Day is Saturday. We don't even know if the fields will be dry or not and the temps are forecast at only 45...gah!
Oh, and we haven't gotten our uniforms yet, either...

crazy times, man

...at least so far my research for the new news org I'm part of and "getting things in order" stuff seems to be holding up.
So that's good. Learning about City Council and re-training myself how to write hard news is a challenge! It's like Journalism 101 all over again!

...oh, and the guy I am liking lately (who is an dear old friend from college that is in my Level 4 meditation class and is also a longtime member of the Unity church I've started going to - yay! he's conscious!...and a fellow Cappy too, hehe)
Anyway, we have all kinds of affinity, love giggling & hugging and have all kinds of fun when we see eachother. And we keep saying we will call and get togeher in beween class & church...but we have missed ALL eachother's calls. So all I can do is be patient and wait for the universe to *let* one of us us make a move! sheesh! ...can a girl get some ACTION?

42. aw CRAPS!!!!!!!
I had an exam this morning. It was mostly multiple guess and we get a packet with the questions and an answer sheet to circle the multiple choice on. It's a "distance learning" class, so the teacher sits halfway across the state from some of us, and we watch on tv.

So, the usual hubbub was really annoying me, and in previous tests she's just said start taking it when you're ready...so I turned the volume down.

THIS was the test that she effed up totally, and gave an announcement at some point that there are only 43 answer spaces on the answer sheet for 66 questions. I didn't even notice. NOW I see an email from her advising us. Either she'll be a bitch and I'll get 23 questions "wrong" or she'll be nice and look at my packet, where the answers are also circled.

I DO NOT EFFING BELIEVE THIS.

43. Laptop. Aaargh.
My laptop was hit with malware, or whatever it's called. My husband managed to recover the four manuscripts on my hard drive, but we had to wipe the computer clean and start over. Luckily, most of the stuff on my computer was backed up on the external storage, but the last couple of days have been a huge hassle. I have a new OS to learn along with the Word upgrade. Let's face it, I like things the way I have them, and when they change, it's frustrating.

I have been having a tough time writing, too.

I hope this is something that will pass.

44. Knocked flat by a virus
I prefer to think it was the Universe's way of limiting my exposure to the Merc ret craziness--the more I stayed at home on the couch under a blankie, the less likely I was to have Merc ret run-ins with technology, vehicles, or other people!

So aside from the tires-not-showing-up issue with my car earlier in the week, not much has hit me--I was even pleased to find out that my car was hesitating and stalling out because the throttle was gunked up (mechanic cleared it out, no charge) instead of something more expensive, like a dying fuel pump. Mille the Jeep lives to see another day!

However, MG Jr. got hit--went to the dentist Monday morning and missed receiving his spelling words for the week. I was so out of it I forgot to remind him to ask his teacher if there were weekly spelling words this week...till this morning. And there WERE. Poor little booger had to do a week's worth of homework this afternoon in preparation for his spelling test tomorrow. :( Luckily the words are pretty easy and I'm sure he'll do fine. But nothing like a mad scramble to get caught up to get your blood pumping!

48. LOL
My daughter's cell phone was charging in the bathroom, and all of a sudden it called MY cell phone. So what did I do? I called it back!! Nobody answered. But that is how I found out it was charging in the bathroom. She was on a walk at the time, sans cell phone.

49. Okay, this is just silly
The lights on my son's light-up sneakers have quit--and he's only had them for two months. Doesn't abuse them, either. They cost a pretty penny, even on sale (they're Skechers), so I wrote to the company, and they said that if I want to send them the sneakers, they'll check 'em to see if they're defective. Well hell, what's my kid gonna wear while they're "up on the bench" at Skechers?

Then I fell prey to a catalog's 20 percent off sale. And I quote: "ALL women's apparel, accessories, and shoes are 20 percent off through May 22". So I chose a cotton hoodie and a terry sweatshirt-type top, applied the coupon code, and...the discount was only taken off the sweatshirt, not the hoodie--of course the cheaper of the two! Yeah, I wrote to them. Awaiting a reply.

Just call me Squeaky (Wheel, not Fromme). :P

50. Do you think if you called the store where you bought them
they would exchange them for you? Most reputable retailers would.

52. Okay. More inconvenience on a large scale.
The professional guild of romance authors, Romance Writers of America, is most likely cancelling their annual conference over the next couple of days. It was scheduled for the last week of July at the Gaylord Opryland Hotel; the hotel had six feet of water in the lobby this morning, and they've now cancelled all reservations and are issuing refunds to those who made reservations for the RWA conference. I'm not sure we can find anywhere in the USA that will host a 2200-person conference with 90 days' notice.

We'll be fine. I'm worried about the people of Tennessee; the water hasn't crested yet.

:scared:
