Bomb in Times Square
Does anyone pick up anything regarding this failed attempt to blow up Times Square?

Thank goodness that the attempt failed.

1. Teabaggers?
That's the first thing to cross my mind. Teabaggers/those sympathetic to them/something like that -- meant to scare people.

This feels home-grown.

3. Me too!

I don't know when things are my intuition or just quick reasoning, but this doesn't have the feel of a foreign plot. One thing that sticks with me is that I read something about "fireworks" being part of the bomb. That being said, "domestic" could be any kind of domestic terrorist. Anything from tea baggers to some Al Quaida sympathizer here in the US.

2. Not sure
I did know it was a weak attempt and had failed before I read anything about it. I don't want to say it was nothing to be afraid of, exactly, but it wasn't done well.

I'm not getting any vibes on who was behind it, though, so I won't speculate. There's plenty of that going on out there already! :scared:

4. Not sure, but it sure provided some great distraction from the gusher in the Gulf.

7. Check out the front page of DU
Someone has posted an article from the New York Times site that gives a description of the guy seen leaving the vehicle and heading down an alley while changing his shirt as "white male in his 40s". I have to admit, I actually know ONE Muslim guy that fits that description, but he is currently in Shanghai, China teaching English, LOL.

However, when I had to walk through that Rand Paul rally at the university where I work there were more than a few that would fit that description, and it was a small rally.

9. You're more right than you know!
Latest info: the eedjit put 100 lbs. of fertilizer in the car...but NOT the kind that explodes. (http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=389x8261365) Now, doesn't that just scream teabagger to you? I know it does to me! (Yes, I'm afraid AQ is better educated than your average teabagger...)

8. I agree - someone must have watched the T. McVeigh piece on MSNBC
and must have been inspired.
