Vampire dream.
Edited on Sun May-02-10 09:30 PM by BlueIris
I had a strange dream Friday night and wanted to see if anyone in this group had any insight.

Vampires are a fairly common symbol in my dreams--they usually pop up at least a couple of times a year, and are definitely the most frequently recurring monster in my nightmares. I've read a lot about what they may represent unconsciously--debilitating relationships, disease, threats from our external environment. For me, they sometimes represent conformity (you get bitten by a vamp, you'll turn into one.) This dream was...different than many of the vampire-themed dreams I've had in the past.

There's an acquaintance of mine...let's call him "Michael," who's been a part of my life for six years. He's a nice guy and I want to see him happier than he has been. A couple of years ago, he had a professional fall out with his company and got transferred (demoted) to another office. It's been hard for him. He was at the peak of his career. (Did I mention he is a really nice man? The last person my brain would ever associate with vampires?)

In my dream, he was visiting me at my house and we got attacked by a bunch of vamps. It was winter; the environment and the mood were cold and bleak. At one point, I thought he'd been killed off, and thinking there was no way I could save him, I took off for safer ground (I was aiming for a neighbor's property.) Eventually, the vampires arrived at my neighbor's home, with Michael (apparently) in tow. The neighbors and I were surprised to discover he wasn't a vampire as well. He helped us fight and kill all the vampires, and the end of the dream featured all of us standing around on our street, exhausted and (sort of) relieved. But the mood was still dark. I kind of felt like, "So you're not a vampire after all...yay?" and not feeling much else. We'd just been through such a terrible experience, nothing about the awful situation seemed improved at the end, other than the dead predators (and Michael being alive, of course.)

This dream is still haunting me. Why was my friend in it? And why didn't I feel any better that we survived a vampire attack together?

1. Perhaps, it just means you do not need to worry
about your friend's integrity?

2. Okay, this is what I picked up
Michael is a member of your soul group (obviously). Even if you're not always in each other's lives in the future, he will always be in your heart.

Fighting vampires in your dream could very well represent everything negative in the world at the moment--all the harsh energies we're tussling with right now. You know you can trust him and that he is an advanced soul like you. He will always be "fighting vampires" just as you will, because it's what we all signed up for in this go-round.

I think you weren't excited at the end of the dream because the fight isn't over. Even though you beat this bunch, you know there are more coming. More vampires, more challenges.

Perhaps the message you should glean from this dream is to surround yourself with people of like mind as yourself--advanced souls--as much as possible, so you can help each other fight the negative entities/energies in the world as we struggle through this tough time.

4. Because the fight isn't over.
That's a more comforting conclusion than "because the world is about to end."

Thanks, MG.

5. Pendulum indicates: A rebirth for my friend re: his professional life.
I just wish I had a happier feeling about his prospects. I think it's going to be an uphill battle for him.
