So I'm Cleaning up my flooded garage in Nashville.... |
|
It's dirty, the mud stinks (and may be toxic), I'm wearing a mask and rubber boots and it has to be done. So I live in an old house with the old timey garage with no doors. So I go to pick up one of my dog's old beds on a shelf and think "why are all of these leaves in here?" So I look closely and it is a wren's nest with 3 chicks in it...just hunkering down. So our priority was to not damage the nest and protect the little ones but we HAD to clean out the garage. So after the cleaning , we put it back on the same shelf, and we waited. Sure enough, Mama came back, hopped around and found them!!! Woo-Hoo!!! So these little critters survived a flood and a garage cleaning. IT'S THE LITTLE THINGS and the tender things that keep us going!!

5. What a great little story ... |
|
... I love that you were so careful about putting them back so the mama could find them.
I hope things get better for you each day. Clearing away the muck is hard work.

Little wrens have nested in our hanging baskets before, precious little things. Amazing that the innocent little feathered family made it through that terrible flood.

Thank you for writing. This is the sort of thing that can get you through the dark days.
And I hope you and yours are doing okay through the flooding?
My husband and I had some unpleasant news a couple of weeks ago. When I was picking him up from work, two women were walking across the parking lot carrying a BIG basket full of puppies. My husband said, "As long as there are baskets full of puppies in this world we know that life is good and we'll be fine."

I was getting water out of the stream in front of my house to water my plants because we have a water plant flooded here and water is precious. I felt like the 3rd world country ladies who walk to the creek for water!! Anyhow, Momma wren comes out of the garage, sits on the fence and sings away!! That little bird can make a big sound. Babies are fine. I want to take a telephoto picture and post it. Can you post pix here?
