Is there a certain brand or formulation (if that is even applicable) that you can recommend for SAM-e, or is one manufacturer as good as another?
Thanks.

that it does not really matter who makes it as it is all made the exact same way. I was also told that if you do not notice a difference within a week you may as well quit taking it because the imbalance is due to other causes.

is right about the B vits.Especially B-6 and B-12. The body needs them to help absorb SAM-E,along with a bunch of other nutrients, more efficiently. The B's also help the body produce melatonin and Seratonin, both of which, when lacking, can cause depressed states.

Is that they have a lot of feedback on their products. www.iherb.com
You can always read those, and order any place you want.

3. I have tried a few kinds |

This is the one time I found a Now Foods product to be less potent. Nature Made, Natrol & Swanson Vitamins all have an effect on me while I had to double dose the Now Foods dose to feel anything. Look for an enteric coated product as I read it is ruined by stomach acid. I can't recall the details but B vitamins are needed to get the full effect of the SAM-e. I have read that some people get similar results to SAM-e when taking the amino acid TMG which is much less expensive and again B complex is needed for it to do it's job. I haven't tried it yet myself but have given it to my arthritic kitty with good results. I open the capsule and give her a tiny bit of the powder every other day mixed in wet food. http://www.swansonvitamins.comhttp://www.iherb.comhttp://www.luckyvitamin.combtw if what you want from sam-e is mood help The Mood Cure is an interesting book: http://books.google.com/books?id=SdZFPeTQyX4C&pg=PA47&lpg=PA47&dq=mood+cure+julia+ross+sam-e&source=bl&ots=8Bm3BFZvAJ&sig=iYYFCSmZAxA--UIJUU7WHPwP3MI&hl=en&ei=MtfsS56zAYP48Abpy9D9Cg&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=3&ved=0CEEQ6AEwAg#v=onepage&q&f=falseto see if your local library has a copy try worldcat http://books.google.com/url?id=SdZFPeTQyX4C&pg=PA47&q=http://worldcat.org/oclc/49822868&clientid=librarylink&usg=AFQjCNFWaM8gS_Sfm-DSZ8QKV_OgMyC8PA&source=gbs_buy_s&cad=0

6. So nice to see you, Shallah... |

I also read that B-complex is needed, so I'll be sure to take in conjunction. I think I'll go with Nature Made, since it's more readily available and I read positive things about it, though I tend to use Natrol for other supplements.
Thanks for the other links. :)
I hope you are well.

and check for buy one get one sales. at least two pharmacy chains in my areas have them at different times from each other so I hope they are in your area as well.
sam-e & b-complex helps the depression I have felt recently. I really feel it if I miss my daily dose or simply don't take them first thing in the day. I take a low dose of sam-e as more than that makes me spacey if it take it all at once or it makes falling asleep harder than ever (chronic insomnia since I was a wee one) if I take a second one later in the day.

9. Nature Made is buy 1, get 1 this week @ CVS |
|
or at least in my state so check your local store if you are still using that brand. If they are out of it get rainchecks. My local cvs only had 3 boxes so I got one for buying one and they gave me the third half price :) Local rite aid never let me do that. If it was buy 1, get 1 and they only had one I was out of luck. I am switching back as of today to see if it has more zip to it than the brands I have been using.

11. I hope it is on sale in your area too! |
|
and don't be shy asking for rainchecks. Most people who work at CVS in my experience are among the nicest about helping me find sale items and giving a good number of the item on rainchecks. Some other stores don't want to give more than a couple of anything on a raincheck which is especially disappointing as this sort of sale is not frequent. I think last week rite aid had Nature Made buy one/ get one half price :/
