Spiritual and Holistic Surgery helpers ??

So, I am scheduled for a hysterectomy June 7th and I feel okay about it. (in fact I am eagerly awaiting NOT being in pain or overly hormonal anymore) I get to keep one good ovary, so the hormone factor should be pretty mellow and not too much of a shock to the system.

MY questions:

1) Any info on vitamins, supplements and other pre& post op things I can do to increase my healing potential and an easier time under general Anesthesia? Any thing I should avoid...?

2) What do you guys know about the whole "silent surgery" idea? I have heard that since we are in a state of post hypnotic suggestion when we are under...it is important that the people around you are not speaking in negative terms or talking about baseball while they are working on you!

I would love links and personal experiences...
(I already know the disclaimer that I can't ask for 'medical advice' blah, blah, blah...)

1. Avoid Vitamin E

I understand that it thins your blood and will interfere with clotting. I don't think you want your blood flowing so freely while undergoing surgery.

I am so sorry that you have to undergo this surgery. Have you tried alternatives?

3. no worries...

I have been dealing with this since I knew my plumbing was heading south, so it's really a blessing.
Not in the mood to waste time and trauma on other procedures, hormones, etc when I have seen this coming down the pike. It's really okay with me in lots of ways. I just want it "over with" :)

it's all about FREEDOM. I'm happy for you. Jupiter is called the "good luck" or "good fortune" planet. I believe they're all good planets when "dealt" with properly. It goes into Aries 6/6 and you are seeing clearly since you see it as a release basically because of Uranus (freedom, liberation) in Aries (starting OVER!). Yes, it is a freedom opportunity. 4. It's hard to imagine

surgery being conducted entirely in silence. There are going to be necessary things said.

But talk to your doctor and to the surgeon about your concerns about anything negative being said while you are under anesthesia. Let them know that even if they see something less than perfect, not to say anything out loud about it.

Have you considered having some hypnosis before the surgery, and perhaps being able to listen to some kind of suggestion therapy or perhaps music during the surgery? If that can happen, you'd have ear buds in, and be only listening to the suggestions or music, and shouldn't hear anything else being said.

5. Music, definitely

A friend of mine had surgery to remove some ovarian cysts/benign growths, and before the surgery she made up a special playlist of uplifting music and meditated to it. Then she brought the same playlist into surgery (with her doctor's approval). She swears that not only did it reduce the stress of surgery, it also helped speed up her healing afterward.

I can't recall whether my friend had local or general anesthesia or was half-under, but I think it would help even when you're entirely out, on a subconscious level. Ask your doctor if you can have an mp3 player in surgery with you--bet s/he'll say yes.

7. I would also consider asking your guides to be there to assist

you and the medical team spiritually, and for healing and emotional help for you afterwards. There are special guides that can and do come in for particular situations, as I understand it. But they are always waiting to be asked as well.

8. Well...since I give anesthesia for a living...

I think that having an ipod/mp3 player would be fine. Just take in a cheap one! Things can get dropped/banged up in the OR while moving around. I think that if you put those stipulations( what they can say/what music they have to listen to) on the OR crew it might make them uncomfortable...and we don't want that now do we! I know so many women are relieved by the time the insurance company/physicians decide that it is time a hysterectomy...Only the besto you!O8)

If there is time you might like see if your local library can interlibrary loan you a copy. I have read of studies showing listening to things like this sped up recovery, reduced blood loss, and people did not need as much pain medication.

omg, the pain factor today is horrible... wonder if it is cellular memory - today is my youngest son's bay and his birth was the culmination of some bad abuse stuff...I am fine emotionally but my body is wracked with pain and cramps...ugh
