Remember my dead laptop? Well, yeah, it's still dead and all its souls lost at sea (or something). And then I had to buy a new laptop with money we don't have--remember that? I was stressing about how to pay for it--the money I used was our "emergency cushion" and now it's "skin of our teeth" time in the checking account. (And...savings account? I have heard tell of these things, but I believe them to be pure fiction. :rofl:)

So there I was, wracking my brain about where to get more money to reestablish the cushion. My freelance work isn't going to cover a fraction of it (the magazine is tightening its belt and freelancers suffer as the FT staff does, only differently). Mr. MG is already working his butt off, and there's been no word yet about his contract job going permanent (and even if it did, there's no telling that they'd pay him more than he's getting as a contractor). Wrack wrack wrack...nuthin'.

Then...ding! E-mail. A request to bid on a writing job--a repeat of one that I did last summer--for a local community college. If I get this assignment (and they seemed to like my work last year), I would make double the money I spent on the laptop.

I just revised my proposal from last year (hey that was easy)--thank goodness it was on a CD backup of my old laptop from last year--but I'm waiting to hear back from the communications person at the college about a confusing bit in the call to bid before I send it to her.

9. Well

As I just wrote to Kookaburra, I didn't! Not consciously. It hadn't crossed my mind yet to manifest something--I was just sitting around fretting.

I like the dancing foodstuffs! But now I'm hungry. Darned healthy dinner of baked chicken and salad anyway... x(

Mine was frozen string beans, frozen corn, leftover rice and edamame beans, and faux chicken strips
(yes, the frozen bits were cooked, in tamari and hoisin sauce)

I had my own monetary crisis today, for all of ten minutes. Opened a letter from the Texas Workforce Commission saying I couldn't get the EUC (Emergency Unemployment Compensation) I had just started because I hadn't exhausted my regular benefits. Not true, at all, and a phonecall corrected it easily. I might not have manifested that, either, but my confidence in dealing with them was high, that I could get my way :) Now if only I could do the same with Chase and their damned credit card I've got!
