2. I agree about the shake ups to corporations and |
|
shake ups to the financial insanity as well, but I'm really not feeling this apocalypse thing. Yes, the world will be different, but I'm not feeling that whole "bomb shelter" mentality -- honestly do not think it will come to that.

.... It feels very fear based to me. I agree that we can and should keep an ear to the ground for what's coming but I just can't go to the fear place.

That kind of thing has always struck me as a way to control the masses, so in order to survive it for me that would be refusing to believe in a fear-based outlook to begin with. I believe in all efforts to survive fear-based control mechanisms.

6. I agree it sounds fear based. This is the very thing I and my "born again" |
|
children and I argued about at my son's dinner table on Mother's Day! I SABOTAGED my own Mother's Day!! (me...+ the prednisone!!!) I'd finally had enough of the fear mongering, and hypocrisy and bigotry against anything related to being gay. I called them all a bunch of hypocrites, and told them not to worry about my spirituality and salvation....but their own!! It turned out to be very cathartic for me, and some slates were wiped clean, and guilt let go of!!! I do however believe in being prepared. I have a gas generator in my shed that I've never used. It would be stupid to have that at my disposal....with no gas!! As for stocking up on food.....my son, who has been hording things in preparation for the "Apocalypse" filled two boxes with canned food and dry staples and gave them to me for Mother's day !!!! It's the equivalent to 3 monthly visits to the food pantry for me.

They do have an interesting take on things, but I always say "you get what you expect". We work so hard to manifest what we want and need in our lives, and we are doing a remarkable job. Unfortunately, that means the more we absorb reports like this, claiming "The end is near!!!!!" (hey, there's nothing new under the sun; for how many millennia have we heard the very same cries?), the more we can indeed manifest that.
As a species, we do like our drama--that means that along with gobbling up disaster/apocalypse movies and scaring ourselves silly with doomsday shows on the History Channel, we also tend to take predictions of worldwide panic/collapse as gospel. I have done that in the past. Now I have consciously chosen NOT to do that any longer.
I'm not advocating sticking our heads in the sand, but I also will not allow myself to succumb to two men's claims of what's going to happen in the future. Yes, I have a garden. No, I'm not digging a nuclear fallout shelter in my back yard. Moderation in all things, and constant awareness. If we pay attention to actual events, not suspected ones, we can see which way our futures are trending, and plan accordingly, without giving ourselves nightmares and bringing about the very future that we fear.

5. I agree that the apocalypse is overrated…. |
|
After summarizing all the information, and parsing it some in my head, I realize that the part about the "revolution" is probably people getting really hacked off at the bankers, the corporations, and the oil companies for causing the present upheavals in the economy. And I think the polls will have some impact in November. I'm not afraid of what might come. If I'm wrong and the worst happens, I can do nothing about it. Meanwhile, we just have to keep on keeping on.

if preachers would STOP preaching fear and hate from their pulpits on sunday mornings. For example...(long story, shortened) Two weeks ago I had a desire to attend Church for the first time in a while. Since my car is such a clunker I went to the closest one to me which just happens to be an Assembly of God church. I raised my kids in this denomination when I was living in Mass. I turned away from it after all of the scandal with the "holier than thou" Pastors back in the late 80's and early 90's. who got caught with their pants down (literally!) Well, I got there early to scope out the place, hoping against hope that maybe they had changed their "dogmatic ways" The music and praise part of the service was absolutely up lifting (I love music) When I read the church bulletin for the week I was surprised to read that the Pastor and I shared a very rare last name (my maiden name) and thought at the end of the service I'd have to be sure and introduce myself as we might be "kin". IT NEVER GOT THAT FAR!!! Right after the offering was taken he began to preach. The first words out of his mouth were "Ya know people, sadly the christian churches in America are being outnumbered by new Mosques being built all over the country. Don't be fooled folks, these are not peaceful people. They are out to destroy America and we need to be prepared to do battle with the word of God. All of these so called peaceful people want is to martyr themselves so they can have their 40 virgins!!!" They are the enemy.....and don't even get me started on the church and state argument"!!! At this point I got up and walked out very quietly...shaking with anger!! This church was PACKED!!I'd say about two thirds of the congregation were brown skinned people, and I was very shocked that he dare preach like this...I'd have been afraid to stand up there knowing that anytime someone could put a bullet in my head for talking like this!!! I couldn't get out of there fast enough. The diversity of the church was one of the main reasons I thought I would like it. It's near a larger city than the lily white town I live in. I guess some things will never change. Going to try the local Lutheran Church this coming sunday. I'm looking for "fellowship" and meeting new people to get out of my life of solitude. I'd love everyone's feedback! JA

Lutherans. And their services are a fry cry from Assembly of God. I've attended many of both. If it's possible though, you should try to attend a Unitarian Church.

Went to SS , was confirmed, married my first Husb. and Christened my kids(from first marraige) there. When I moved to MA. I changed because it was too formal for me, too much like the Catholic services. Now this was in the mid 60's, flower child, sexual revolution, new age (dawning of Aquarius) era. Thus my disdain for formality!! LOL I'm sad to say there are no Unitarian Churches in my neck of the woods....given my limited driving range. I'm still looking for a more trustworthy car that is not a stick shift! I will try the local Lutheran Church and see how it goes.

12. Fox News drivel presented as God |
|
That's the part that gets me. I call the majority of Churches in my state untaxed Republican Political Action Committees. There is nothing spiritual about it. It is just another way people's minds have been taken from them, by taking over their houses of worship with the most hateful and non-spiritual stuff possible.
A very sad comment on what has happened to this country.
