I don't know how to say this and I haven't read the cards to clarify my thoughts. I just can't shake the rising thought that not only is our nation becoming divided in ideology, but we are going to have battles about it. I'm not talking about the debates we have about differences, I am talking about the fact we are going to have military battles. It now has become especially bad since the week's hurricane events. It won't be about states seceding although I think this could be more civil. It will be about taking the whole country in an all or nothing struggle. I feel frightened.
Is anyone else getting vibes like this?

1. FWIW, my vibes today were relatively calm. Hopeful, even. |

I'm sorry you aren't on the same wavelength. That sounds very unpleasant.

I sense they are trying, but like everything else, they don't know that America has progessed beyond them. Nobody looks to them for leadership anymore in any way and have stopped believing them. I believe somehow (maybe wishful thinking) that this is truly the end for them, and they don't know it yet.
People talk about Martial Law, but the units that could impose it are overseas and are very hostile now to Commander Bunnypants. So much so that they don't want them back. If they really, really could, those units would have been long ago back here. And the Regular Army hates them with a passion as well.

I think they are for sure trying to save Bush's ass but people are smarter then that. Apparently even republicans are pissed off.

3. I'm not sure--I just feel all out of whack right now... |
|
So emotional about all the visuals of NOLA. Spirit is battered and wounded by some of the things I have read and seen (here on DU and around the internet).
I'm not feeling good about being a woman in this country right now at all. If I had the opportunity presented to me tomorrow, I would probably go--where? Just about anywhere (except Iraq). I have no faith right now--terrible I know. I'm proabably just completely depleted. Need to rest, get centered...
Sorry I am not being helpful, Cleita. You pose an interesting question. I don't doubt it.

If you care what I think, that sounds essential for you. Take a break from the site if you need to. BTW, I'm sorry that some of what is upsetting you came from DU.com. That happened to me once, and a good week away from the offending areas really took the edge off. Of course, it helped that the people who had offended me had been banned by the time I returned.
May you find peace.

Do not despair. I believe that this is Buscco's Chernobyl. Remember the image of old Russia was that it was supremely more powerful than the United States, and if it would let down its guard, the United States would be conquered? That image held until Chernobyl, when the Soviet Union could no longer hide the result of its disasterous policies from the world. Its inability to help its own people signaled to everyone inside and outside that Russia was a paper tiger. Soon, Gorbechev lost power, and the Berlin Wall came down, confirming what the world saw.

I took a few days away to visit my grandmother and she doesn't have the internet and I didn't come on my phone to check things either. I just took a few days to rest and spend some time with my grandmother and mom and yesterday I had a bad headache so I just stayed in bed all day. It helps to stay away for a while and not watch any news and all that.

11. Civil war won't happen. |
|
Civil war requires passion and commitment. Half the people in this country don't even vote. Even if someone tried to start a civil war, most of the sheeple would say it's just boring politics and go back to watching "American Lost Survivor Idol" on TV and "Lost White Girls" on the news. The civil war would be cancelled for lack of interest.
