Are Katrina and Obsidian Butte earthquake swarms related?
Edited on Sat Sep-03-05 01:59 AM by SimpleTrend
An astrological graphing problem: what single moment correlates best to Katrina hitting New Orleans? Since the storm lasts for many moments once hitting Louisiana when is the first moment?

There was another phenomenon happening at the same time as Katrina, seemingly unrelated, but highly unusual: A swarm of earthquakes centered at Obsidian Butte, Salton Sea, California. Might earthquakes and hurricanes be related? Perhaps terrestrial magnetism affects, causes, or correlates to both phenomenon?

It's out there in concept, but whether the answer is yes or no, it appears there is an astrological chart relationship. The Obsidian Butte earthquakes appear to start swarming in a concentrated group on Aug 28, 2005. I've checked some of the earthquake times and there are mundane angles running through the Louisiana area in many of them.

This is the first in the quake swarm series beginning on the 28th and ending on the 29th reported as PDT.

(data older than one week not shown)

Here's the AstroClick Travel map for that moment, the earthquake's PDT has been converted to CDT by adding two hours. This time is about 5 hours before the storm is reported to have hit the coast. There are 21 other Obsidian Butte earthquake times (of this unbroken series) that curiously, of the several I've checked, have mundane angle hits near Louisiana.

I really don't know what to make of it, other than forming the question regarding correlation.

1. Boy, that's really interesting! I hope some of the folks who have
studied the astrocartography charts will weigh in here!

It does seem like quite a coincidence, doesn't it?

2. Those quakes may be manmade

The Associated Press contributed to an article at NBCSanDiego.com where it's claimed an unnamed USGS official said the Obsidian Butte quakes may be manmade, specifically, the result of injecting water into the earth at some unnamed geothermal plant.

Here's another curious Obsidian Butte earthquake, with its time and longitude relocated to New Orleans. The earthquake data:
1.5 2005/08/29 05:59:37 33.191N 115.587W 0.0 5 km ( 3 mi) ENE of Obsidian Butte, CA

This quake's relocated timezone AstroClick Travel map.

This particular astromap doesn't show any lines near the earthquake zone, but reading the interpretation for the Pluto/IC running very near New Orleans line is quite reminiscent of the storm. The time of this map is 1 1/2 hours after Katrina is reported to have had the first Louisiana landfall. To get Astrodienst's "personal" interpretation, just click on the line you're interested in.

The Salton Sea is also below sea level, like New Orleans.

Edit: I note that if I delete all the astro.com cookies set on my computer, I can no longer see the charts at the links. If you can't see the charts, my apologies. The images are copyrighted, so I doubt if it's legal to capture them to repost here through an alternate server (since they're pretty much the entire page's contents).
