What would YOU like to see the main topic of the next newsletter be about?
I am too close to the whole subject. It feels like I've written about everything I can imagine, yet, I am not in the shoes of a "non-astrologer." I know it's a maddeningly complex subject. I just want to get a feel from all of you. What do you want to see written about from an astrological viewpoint? Let's blue-sky for a bit, eh?

Thank you in advance for your ideas. :hi:

6. Nothing I can think of
I've been asked everything. My favorite was an old man on my 1983 radio show...

Q: Why am I always getting arrested?
A: Because you're always breaking the law.

4. How about what all them lines mean?
Or Saturn in the fifth house opposing Pluto in the seventh with a trin in the nebula and all that stuff - I made that up :rofl:

Just a basic little primer from your perspective to jump start people like me. Is that too much to ask?

5. That's a good idea
I already have detailed all of that, chapter by chapter in my first 45 or so newsletters. But, it's hard to go thru that picking one thing out against another. Perhaps I'll do a step by step of how to construct and basically read a chart.

Good idea. I'll have to charge you $.25 cents if you read it though. :hi:

7. It woul be my pleasure to pay up!
But IT IS really good to know that you've already done that. I will check out your archives - if you there is one on your site.

Now that I have a chart, I would love to read an Astrology for Dummies :)

11. Trines
are when two planets are 120 degrees apart, approx. One third of the circle usually indicates that the two planets combine their energies harmoniously.

Conjunctions are when 2 or more planets are within 9 degrees or so of each other. Their energies combine whether you want them to or not. Some good, some not so good. Like two singers who insist on singing at the same time.

9. How about something more about its history...
did it start in India first? Why do scholars or you think it started? How did they come up with it?

I'm reading a book that touches on this ... and the idea that Sirius or the Dog Star was stationary for 3,000 years which may be why so many diverse older civilizations gave it such prominence in their world view. Do you know anything about that? I am reading Colin Wilson's from Atlantis to the Sphinx. I like it as he is drawing in a lot of information from all over the heck and back and making connections. Whether I believe it or not ... meh, but it's interesting to read just the same. Lots of out of the box ideas in this one but they do connect as he presents them. He does suggest that the Sphinx, the Pyramids both in Egypt and South America, Stone Henge and other massive monuments from BCE were designed to reflect that group's understanding of astronomy...

Many of the books he refers to are books my parents had on their shelves and it's comforting to hear him talk about them for me.

10. It started in ancient Chaldea
Edited on Fri Aug-27-10 11:06 PM by Ricochet21
I have no idea about a Dog Star staying stationary.

So many mysteries.

It's a very very long story. Mostly, what started as a superstition finally revealed itself to be the archetypes of life exposing themselves as something real. In other words, when we say, "What got into you recently?" or "What came over her the other night?"

those are very real THINGS which are symbolized by the planets and signs. Those energies are mapable by a thing called Astrology.

21. This Wilson book
relates his theory (and others as well) that the early Aryans and the culture they replaced (Chaldeans?), the Egyptians, the Incans and Mayans all understood the progression of the zodiac and how to align their buildings with certain constellations and specific equinoxes. Sounds like I am recommending it ... I think you might find it interesting if you can lay your hands on it. Published in the 90s so may be out of print.

It sounds rather nutty as I have related it above but if you follow his reasoning, it is as rational as any other story regarding the early beginnings of these cultures... and it connects more dots which I like. I think I need to find out more about Sirius and it's course over time to followup as I know really nothing about it... other than a surprising number of cultures have known about it and/or designed their worship around it over the millenia.

15. I am very weak re: nodes
I have seen tiny evidence myself while others base their entire readings on them! I don't know why, but I just don't resonate with them. I'm not saying they don't work. I'm saying that they are so general that almost all people would agree with all 12 descriptions.

They have much to do with karma which I'm also not strong on. My difficulty with them lies in the fact that they are not planets, they are points in space that only exist 2 days a month!

Anyhow, previous Cassie is an expert on them.

Great idea though. I want to learn more about them myself

14. this September...hmmmm
How about the Harvest and Rosh Hashana, the west of the medicine wheel/new year/making amends picture and how the current lineups are affecting/assisting the transition?

I dunno, it seems like fall is always a big shift of sorts for us collectively, back to school in more ways than one, because we are turning toward the winter and more introspection... does that make sense?

16. Timing
Edited on Sat Aug-28-10 01:34 PM by Ricochet21
I cannot express enough how RARE the current configuration is.

With Neptune powerfully sitting on USA's Moon
Saturn return approaching
Pluto opposing Venus
Pluto about to oppose our Sun
Uranus and Saturn having been duking it out for years
Pluto in Capricorn
Pluto return in 14 years.
on and on

This traveling T-square to Pluto
it's really more than most entities can bear. That's why you're seeing so many people "crack under the pressure" right now.
I know nothing about "Rosh Hashana, the west of the medicine wheel/new year/making amends picture and how the current lineups are affecting/assisting the transition?"

The reason we PERK UP in Sept is because we are all going thru Virgo - time to clean house, clean up, etc.

Most planets, such as the Mercury Rx now are minor because the PLUTO effect is so major across the board.

18. perk up! ha!
So that's what we are calling it these days?!? :rofl:

as for the year festivals of
Hebrew-
The Jewish High Holy Days are observed during the 10 day period between the first day (Rosh Hashanah) and the 10th day (Yom Kippur) of Tishri, the seventh month of the Jewish calendar. (sept in gregorian)
Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur are the most important of all Jewish Holidays and the only holidays that are purely religious, as they are not related to any historical or natural event.
Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year, is celebrated the first and second days of Tishri. It is a time of family gatherings, special meals and sweet tasting foods.
Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement, is the most solemn day of the Jewish year and is observed on the tenth day of Tishri. It is a day of fasting, reflection and prayers.

Native American -
WEST ( Blue) Water - Emotions
Later adulthood, the time of Fall, the time of the setting sun - twilight. The daylight fades and brings a new awareness in this time of gradual change. When the darkness comes we must look inward to find the light and have courage. To understand what we see in the darkness may not be real but only shadows.
This is the emotional part of ourselves, like the flowing water we must learn to go with the flow of life. The time of the West is when we learn that we are responsible to all things and to each other. It is the time to prepare, to finish things for the time of Winter is coming. We gather ourselves and family, working together to prepare for what is to come. As the place of emotions it is the place of family and love - of responsibility from our hearts because of the love. It is hard work and team efforts. Black symbolizes change from this life.
Animals
The Beaver shows us of the team work and pre-paredness needed for the winter coming. The snake reminds us to shed our skin to grow and change.
~~~~~~~~~~
I can relate how virgo goes along with these energies and 'holy-days'
I'd have to think more deeply to relate your BIG LIST!
With Neptune powerfully sitting on USA's Moon
Saturn return approaching
Pluto opposing Venus
Pluto about to oppose our Sun
Uranus and Saturn having been duking it out for years
Pluto in Capricorn
Pluto return in 14 years.
on and on
you are brave indeed to be trying to help us all work through this with your wisdom, I :loveya:
thanks rick!
23. Good question
Edited on Sun Aug-29-10 12:22 PM by Ricochet21
Houses are mathematical sub-divisions we super-impose over the zodiac.
In ALL charts, the first house is to the left, or on a clockface, between 8 and 9
Likewise, the ninth house is between 12 and 1, etc.
this is THE area that most confuses newbies.
The planets are more or less "glued" to the zodiac during the day of your birth. BUT, the whole thing spins once per day because the earth is rotating.
Therefore, let's say that you have Mercury in Virgo, it wil be there all day. But, during that day, Mercury in Virgo will start in the 12th house (as Mercury rises) and back up through all 12 houses until the next day when it repeats.
Planets = energy
Signs = what type of that energy
Houses = what area of life that energy is expressed, what field.
I've already covered their meanings in newsletter 15 - 26, one at a time.
