Dream interpretation?
I was standing in the backyard of my childhood home, as an adult, listening to my mom (who passed 9 years ago) explain the "hood" (she would have never used that word ) when she was growing up in the same town. Numerous times throughout the dream, a single hummingbird would flit around me and fly into my face, and kiss me.

Would someone please help me interpret this? I do know that in Native American lore, the hummingbird represents joy. Other than that, I have no idea where to begin.

Thank you in advance .

1. It feels like your mother was making contact
I've read in a number of places that our loved ones will usually send us birds or butterflies or other flying pretties when they're trying to make contact from the other side. I think the part about the "hood" was just a little added levity. Something she knew would make you giggle. Plus, the hummingbirg (joy) kissed you -- pretty much feels like a mom. She was sending you some love and joy from the other side.

5. Thank you,
Kookaburra! Yes, "the hood" did make me giggle, my mom being the "proper lady" (until later life ) that she was. What a wonderful thought, her sending me love and joy from the other side.

2. Whenever I dream of my childhood home
- which is fairly often - it usually relates to me re-discovering some "part" of myself that I'd kept locked away for awhile. Maybe you've recently found someway to access joy even though your circumstances are different that what they were "back in the day"?

That's just a stab in the dark based on my own experiences, but maybe something will resonate!

3. How wonderful that must have felt!!!

A kiss from a hummingbird -- wow!!!!

Feels like a delightful visit and blessing from your mom...maybe if there was joy in your childhood, to perhaps focus on that child-like joy now.

You ARE a joy, Jenn.

4. Do you remember what your Mom
was saying, any impressions, her tone, her demeanor. Sometimes dreams are more about what you are feeling. Or maybe in this dream she's conveying a feeling to you. How do you feel about your childhood home? Is there something there that is trying to bubble up to consciousness.

Just asking a bunch of questions because this dream seems important to you  especially with the hummingbird topping it off with a kiss and, of course, a possible visitation from your mom. Those elements feel really nice.

8. Good morning,
Kind of Blue

She was talking in her "story telling" voice, explaining who lived where, back in the day. I loved my childhood home, life was simple and, mostly, safe. I also remember her drawing boundaries (in the air) of the different "hoods" (sorry, that term, in relation to mom, still is cracking me up!). We were standing by her garden, which was about 1/4 of an acre and well renowned, county wide. There was nothing growing in the garden though, and I saw familiar neighbor's houses to the south.

Thank your for your questions...more food for thought.

9. The "hood" makes me think that she was suggesting that her place
of residence is a little more sophisticated, a little nicer.

The fact that it was around her garden and nothing was growing in it, suggests she wants you to spread some of the joy around the "hood." Plant some seeds of joy and see if her garden grows in your next encounter with it in a dream.
