I have certainly been stirring the crap in GD starting last night.
I started threads (Three) with lots of discussion, and they even got lots of recs!

One about a Nightline segment on picky eaters, and I related my own childhood battles with bossy grandma over lousy cooking, my food allergies, etc. One poster said "They were really abused in childhood, I wasn't, millions of people are starving..." .....whatever.... Most of the people were gobsmacked and others related their own battles with the parental units over food.
And somebody started another thread calling me out, about how much the OP hated picky eaters. Like this is anybody else's business. I feel like I earned some kind of a blue ribbon or honor for that one.

Second thread was about the millions of people with thyroid problems that are fat. That brought out the usual suspects who think all fat people are morally deficient junk food eating slobs, and it's all simple thermodynamics, yada yada. Missy Vixen and Nadinbrezinski backed me up of course.

Third thread was in R/T and entitled "I am sick and tired of having Christianity shoved in my face" where I related the stupidity of the fundie nuts I encounter.

Things have certainly gotten nasty.

1. Hi, I posted on your thread about picky eaters, since
I am one and on the other thread, which I told the person it wasn't any of his business what people ate or if they chose to starve rather than eat something nasty. The two GD boards have become a cesspool of nastiness. Sometimes I'm up for fighting back but not this week as I have other things on my mind.

2. I just posted in the "christianity" thread!

I didn't see too much nastiness there. Most people were right on board with you.

I was impressed and enjoyed your knowledgeable background (and grantcart's...others too but you and grantcart stand out in my mind.)

3. Grantcart knows lots of good stuff.
He said he also went to a Presbyterian college and had a couple of years at Princeton Theological Seminary.

That's a dangerous religious education some of us get from those librul educated Presbyterians!! OoooooHHH!! They aren't shoving doctrine into our brains.

Didja know that the most educated and most liberal Christian denominations are the Episcopalians, the Presbyterians and the Congregationalists (United Church of Christ)???

5. I knew Episcopalians were liberal thanks to the likes of Bishop Shelby Spong.
The liberalism of them never really sunk in as a kid (our family was brought up Episcopalian.) I stopped going in my teens because the ritual aspect did nothing for me, and I don't remember the sermons being all that inspiring (mostly just boring, making me now think of Eddie Izzard's depiction of the Church of England :P)

8. I kind of knew that, but in a vague "common knowledge" sort of way
Most of what I know is through my ADD brain...voracious grazing, a mouthful here, there and everywhere. :p :(

I love grantcart's posts--so much knowledge, of great breadth and depth.

I admire people who don't have ADD

4. Ah, but you should have brought up the fact that fat people
are getting that way because they are using their foodstamps and unemployment money to buy HFCS (excuse me, "corn sugar", because all sugar is the same) -laden foodstuffs :P

Here's a site to buy items just for the purpose of visually letting your fundy nuts know what you're all about with nary a word spoken (so long as they can read something other than scripture ;))

Northern Sun
I see they have a Unitarian Universalists section, too :D

6. I wish I had seen the thyroid thread.
I never had a weight problem in my life until my thyroid was destroyed with radiation. They told me it was the best thing for me, but I wonder. I take Armour thyroid now, but I am still not a happy camper.

9. Hehe, fellow thysista and bruthas
I need to find that thread. I just never come on here anymore, unless to visit the astro group, or photography. I gained 45 lbs before I was dx'd with autoimmune hypothyroidism, and I never ate like a crazy person. Having recently completely a pathology course and studying what glands control what, and the hormone feedback loops etc., with thyroid keyword is METABOLISM. Of course I knew that a long time ago, but I certainly chuckled when we talked about it in class. Some people are just clueless. And don't get me started on the poisonous food supply in this country. :-/

11. Me too....
Zombied out on synthroid & levithyroxin switched to Armour 10 years ago. Restored the cutting edge of my "creative" brain.
Then last year, in the NE druggists couldn't get it any more. I have beendriving to Campobello ISland in Ca. this year but my prescription plan which is PAID for won't pick up the cost because it is made by Erfa Canada Inc. thus not FDA approved. ( SInce I contribute approx $2,000 per year to the Medicare common kitty with out using much of it at all, this is an indignity!

Of course Forrest Lab which makes ARMOUR, IS paying a 313,TRILLION fine for ILLEGALLY MARKETING Levithyroxine before FDA approval/?????????
I haVE HEARD OF A PHARMACY 65 MILES AWAY (IN USA) THAT SELLS IT REGULARLY; TO A FRIEND.......( would prefer the $ goes to my local single propriator , local Pharmacist!)
