It feels like the land accepts the modification.
Where I am, there's a road leading out of town to the freeway, a lush flood plain and it's just been gutted. Our stomachs literally turn when we see so much of it flattened and chopped down by those machines called earth movers. It's almost hard remembering what it looked like. And you can feel the land will retaliate somehow with the next big rain and it's not going to be nice.
