Hello, all.
I just finished reading a book, The Secret School by Whitley Strieber, 1997. There’s a lot to the book, but this one part about the upcoming shift of ages I’d like to share and hear what you think.
In the year 10,450 B.C., and in no other year since, the constellation Leo rose precisely behind the body of the Sphinx, in exact conformity with its shape. This was also the year in which the Sun in the vernal equinox first rose in Leo.
Was the Sphinx a monument commemorating an age, built by sophisticated and capable people who have entirely disappeared? If so, this tradition was continued into later eras. For example, the Temple of Karnak in Luxor, with its famous ram motifs, was built at the beginning of the Age of Aries, the Ram. The Old Testament, written during Aries, is filled with references to the ram. By contrast, the gospels are full of references to the fist, and Christ was called “the fisher of men”. He was born at the beginning of the Age of Pisces, and is still identified by the symbol of the fish.
Now, as the Age of Aquarius is beginning, it appears that we have lost this ancient tradition, along with most of our other connections to deep human tradition and our real past. Of course, the absence of memory is perhaps appropriate to our formless new sign.
What are your thoughts on the symbol of Aquarius, the Water Bearer? Aquarius is about humanity, isn’t it?
Or, perhaps the next age will begin in 2012, when the Mayans say our way of tracking time will dramatically shift, which is quite appropriate for a formless new sign. (I know I’ve not captured the depth of the Mayan calendar, but it’s a subject I’ve not studied in-depth.)
Thoughts?
