The path of the 12 steps brought me to a spiritual life. I had to find a God to (literally) save my life and Christianity just wasn't gonna do it for me.

I'm thanking God for AA today and thanking AA for giving me a spiritual way of life

I have a history of alcoholism in my family, (killed my Uncle, though he'd quit but liver cancer got him) and my husband's granfather died of liver damage too. So I know it's a VERY difficult problem to overcome and you are an inspiration and guiding light to all those who meet you, in cyberspace and the mundane world. This is very important on a spiritual, physical and psychological level, as well as karmic. Often substance abuse is an issue brought forward from many past lives. If you can clear this karma and let go of your soul's desire to escape in this lifetime, then you may be done with it for good.

I am ashamed to admit it - but my drinking the past few weeks has really been getting out of hand - and I think I really need to make some changes and it is people like you and this forum that helps me be strong. Now if I have too many glasses of wine, I throw up. I think my body is definitely trying to tell me something. Never happened before. Thanks very much for just posting this.
