April 2006 Prayers and Healing
Edited on Sat Apr-01-06 05:40 AM by OhioBlues
Prayer and healing are very personal and each of us has our own way to interpret who and what God is. Whether he is a he a she an energy or embodied in one person or many we each have our own understanding of that energy many call God.

It is in this spirit that I think we should place a disclaimer here in order to comply with DU rules and protect those who are healers and energy workers from liability.
Please use common sense when ill. We all have at our disposal many tools for healing. Prayer and energy work are one way and work well for many of us. With that said please use your discretion if you need to see a physician due to a condition which is serious and is not being alleviated through prayer and or energy work.

I would like to use a meditation chant/prayer from the book, “Words of Power” by Brian and Ester Crowley, to begin the April thread.

Harken to the inner voice
tune in to the heartbeat of thy neighbor
If all would listen thus
we would live in a glorious world.

In the spirit of love and gratitude I invoke the presence of those loving beings who heal and protect us all. I ask that all who seek, find and the energy of the most high be with us now, as we begin our April journey to wholeness.

who still need help from the March thread. (So be it, so be it, so be it.)

Thank you, OhioBlues!

persuasion, (and other Earth signs) I will be burning meditation candles for Love, Protection, Money and Abundance this week. As a Taurus, I feel I need all the help I can get at this time. I will possibly be meditating for Positive Energy, too, if I feel like splurging. Does anyone want in on that? I will think about everyone I can remember from this forum generally, but if anyone needs a special boost in any of those areas, you should let me know.

6. I'm on it, Chief. I'll be starting with the Love candle tonight.
I've found that this kind of meditation candle is extremely useful for smoothing out the rough edges in problematic interpersonal relationships. Tonight, it got me a free dinner from one of my otherwise horrible roommates. But I will definitely also think about you, your daughter, (I think about her a lot, actually, because Thurston County isn't terribly far from where I am, and I hope her situation improves) your son and precious new grandson. 'Cause that little baby is a super-cutie.

7. As an aside, BI can you tell me about your meditation candles?
Where do you get them and how specifically do you use them?
It is funny, thus past week, seems that everything I read talks about meditation candles, maybe I am meant to learn something about them!

12. They're from Hawaii and focus on chakras.
I like to think that there's not all that much that is special about the candles, just the energy they help me dissipate into my own life and that of others.

14. In many of the things I am reading from various sources there
is mention of candles, and the flame being a good spiritual focus of some sort. It is very interesting. How do you use with the candle? Do you meditate with the candles, look at the flame?

And if you think about most religious rituals, there are always candles, the Catholic mass, the Jewish Sabbath, etc.

15. I don't have to look at the flame, but I experience the most benefit
if the candle is physically near by me--I burn them by my bedside. I mentally use a suggested mantra related to the candle's purpose (healing, abundance, etc.) while it is burning. I do it continuously for about five minutes after first lighting the candle, then on and off while it burns (4-5 hours). Works great, sometimes bringing about profound changes.

8. Remember nothing is a "bad" month in karmic astrology :)
It is called an opportunity to learn important lessons, and to burn off some karma :) Aren't we lucky :)

Seriously, why is April supposed to be a bad month for Earth?

I just read that April was suppsed to suck for Taurus folks, and earth signs. Which is how it's been shaping up for me so far. Sucky. Awful, in fact. But at least I have my health. I guess.

13. There is a bit of funky energy
...People getting sick, having accidents etc. Maybe it is the Aries energy, a double whammy with the total solar eclipse.

LOL on not being into karmic astrology, I wish I weren't either :)

in fact, but for the last two days, my allergies (to indoor stuff, not outdoor stuff) have been going crazy, I've been klutzy as hell, and tonight, I burned my hand with candle wax. Sucked. The roommate I have with Neptune in Libra (in the 5th, no less) has been absolutely nutty since the eclipse--admitting to anger management issues, and behaving very inappropriately toward me and my other roommate--who is his spouse. Yes, for those concerned, I am still planning to relocate...soon. I have special concerns about the bitchy roommate, since he has had heart trouble recently--I read that this last eclipse has been hard on folks with heart issues. (That also makes me worry about my Dad, who was unreachable tonight.) Also, Bitchy Roommate is a recovering alcoholic, and it just doesn't seem like stress on his Libran Neptune from an eclipse would be good for his sobriety. Mostly, I just don't like dealing with the stress created by his nasty attitude right now. It's unpleasant.

I leave tomorrow morning for the hospital for a hysterectomy. They're going to do a vertical incision since they found some grade 1 cancer cells in the uterine lining. So I'm stressed about that. I just got interrupted writing this message because a manager came and got me and several others to tell us that one of our coworkers Leukemia is back and they are giving him 2 wks if he doesn't take treatment, 2 months if he keeps up with transfusions or they don't know how long if they give him strong chemo and shock his system. I have another friend who was crushed by a truck at a loading dock. They originally thought she only had 3 broken ribs and some bruised organs, but they find now that her heart was damaged in the accident. Another coworker has begun treatment for lung cancer in one lung and asbestosis in the other. Needless to say, his prognosis is not looking good.

I am lifting us all up, everyone on this list and all that I know, in prayer since it sounds like alot of us are having a rough time. I figure when I'm in the hospital, I'll make the rounds and pray with my friends and the people who are in the room with them (if they approve).

I *REALLY* don't want to have this surgery tomorrow :( Oh yeah, and 4/13 is my 43rd birthday. I thought things were supposed to be going better than they are.

25. A prayer to bring gentle but powerful energy
Edited on Sat Apr-08-06 06:07 AM by cassiepriam
Given all this hectic Aries energy we are facing this month, I thought it would be good to post one of my favorite prayers attributed to one of my favorite saints, St. Francis of Assisi. He brings a gentle, sweet, calm energy wherever he goes. I have multiple karmic ties to St Francis, and he is supposed to be one of my spirit guides.

In addition to being a powerful healing prayer, I along with others think that this prayer is important for those wanting to become more psychic or to develop healing gifts. Just read and feel the prayer, and you will see what I mean.

I ask that St Francis lend his healing energy to this prayer thread.

Prayer of Saint Francis of Assisi

Lord, make us instruments of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let us sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is discord, union;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
Where there is sadness, joy.

Grant that we may not
so much seek
To be consoled as to console;
To be understood
as to understand;
To be loved as to love.

For it is in giving
that we receive;
It is in pardoning
that we are pardoned;
And it is in dying that we are
born to eternal life.

Amen

Edited on Sun Apr-09-06 04:36 PM by OhioBlues
This was copied from a thread in the lounge and said it was OK to post here as well.
"Prayers/good thoughts/vibes needed...for me, but especially for my friend.

I woke up today with a croupy cough, prepared to study for what is going to be a hellish week academically for me. Anyway, I got an e-mail from one of my best friends. She said that she'd been noticing strange bruises on her body lately, and she went to the doctor, who said that her platelet count is extremely low. She needs to go to a specialist and get further tests done. She's my age (19), and her mom is already battling breast cancer...in short, it's not what her family needs right now. Any positive thoughts you can send her and her family right now would be much appreciated. Thanks."

35. An update on my situation.
After all the tests were completed, and the situation became even cloudier, my Doctor asked another Dr. friend to look at my tests. He looked at the MRI and said the diagnosis of TIA (transient echemic(sp?) attacks are DEFINITE. I was having mini-strokes - the warning signs of an impending stroke. According to him, I was in danger of dropping dead from a massive stroke within six months, which they now feel they can stop from happening, because I sought treatment.
As a result, I am now on three new medications, including blood thinners, cholesterol lowering, and blood pressure reducing meds. They've also doubled my diabetes meds - yuck. So, I'm now sooo mellow, I'm hardly awake. ;-)
The good news is - I don't have MS. My eye has also stabilized, much to my Doctor's amazement. I believe this is due to the prayers and good wishes from everyone here, for which you ALL have my eternal gratitude. :hug: :hug: :hug:
So, thank you all for your prayers, good thoughts, and kindness. The mystery was solved.

:loveya: :loveya: :loveya:

NB

Keeping my prayer candle lit for everyone here, too.

Chicago. Don't feel like posting why, except that my sister is there right now, and as a city with a ton of large, vertical structures, it's vulnerable to a lot of things in this day and age. 46. A prayer for safety, peace and sanity
Many on the main DU forums are rightly scared and upset by recent events, the rattle of nuclear sabers, American retired generals sounding the alarm, etc.

I would like to ask anyone who can, to send some light, prayers and healing to this country, to the world. Pray that we are all protected and spared any further violence and bloodshed.

Please give us direction on how we can release old karma and move into a state of grace. Help us face what is happening with courage, wisdom and faith.

I ask Mary, my spirit guide, to love and protect us, all of her children. Thy Will Be Done. Amen.

48. Special request for my father.
I am taking my 86 year old father to the doctor today. He had a mild stroke in January, and was told by the dr. that he couldn't drive. Dad is going to ask the dr. to "reinstate his driving privileges," even though we (his 3 children) have told him that his driving skills are not what they used to be and that he is not a safe driver anymore.

Please pray that my father will accept with grace the limitations of old age. Also pray that I will be more patient and loving to him.

referred my Dad to an agency (rehabilitation service) that gives tests of driving safety. I could have hugged his neck as that takes the burden off of him and the rest of the family. Dad is very hopeful that he will be driving before too long.

55. Thank you so much for your prayers and healing thoughts.
You have no idea how much they meant to me and how much I appreciated them.

I just wanted to let you all know that surgery went well. They did not feel they had to remove any lymph nodes or do any additional abdominal testing because it was caught so early. Unfortunately, due to the location of the cancer (closer to the cervix than higher up in the uterus) they are evaluating the pathology results, and I may have to have some radiation to ward off a future reoccurance. I should find out after 4/27, that's when we meet with the radiation oncologist.

I seem to be healing well except I have absolutely no energy yet. Being out and about with family for 3 hours on Easter just totally sapped my strength. The hardest part of this healing process is not doing too much when you feel good. My new mantra is "you only have one chance to heal the right way."

You know, before I went in the hospital, I had mentioned that April was starting out like a really rough month for me and many friends. Well, I had to let you know that my friend that had been crushed by her husband's pickup truck is out of the hospital! My one friend with leukemia passed away while I was in the hospital and my other friend undergoing the chemo/radiation for lung cancer is holding his own right now (not many side effects yet).

The day I came home from the hospital, I was notified that one of my friends was killed in a horrific accident. He was coming home from work and was the victim of a police chase going wrong. Our county police have a rule that a criminal is only pursued in a chase if someone's life is in danger. The police chasing this guy and girl were city police from another town (out of district) and had called the state police in as backup. The guy and girl walked away from the crash while my friend's car exploded. The policeman is devastated.

I've been sending healing thoughts, prayers, and light to both the family of my friend and the policeman, and also the families of the perpetrators. Just wanted you guys to know. I hope the end of April starts to turn around for everyone.

58. Very sorry to hear about your friends. I too had have friends
with very freaky accidents, one is too bad to share.
Other mishaps and illness happened as well.

I will be glad when this month is over.

Good thing I put a prayer here from St Francis at the beginning of the month,
we needed the heavy hitters!

Thank goodness you had such good results.

Take very good care of you for the next week or so. Get plenty of water and make sure you are getting enough vitamin C and other nutrients. We'll keep you in our thoughts and prayers as you heal and mend!

I am so happy that all went well.:hug:

Please continue to be gentle with yourself. It's so easy to use up your reservoir of strength very quickly in situations like yours. I will continue to send you energy and light.

60. a thought
Time flies and we are almost greeting May
April came with a bang of events
yet, the impression is stagnant
is this how it would feel to be a seed
planted in the warming ground
waiting for a breakthrough?
as we each struggle towards progress,
within and outside of ourselves
I find comfort in all the energies of good will and intent
which lift me far above and beyond my own immediate pain
and I send my own
I feel our energies converging far above the atmosphere
into a magnificent layer of light
embracing our planet
may these energies forever strengthen
towards a planet in harmony, justice and peace
one person, one step at a time
in gratitude

And a good way to frame the April Madness. Hopefully it will be like the soup scum that rises to the top so we can skim it away!
A toast to May 1st, a better month!

63. Carrying over the idea from Ecumenist's thread about
concentrating our efforts to bring peace to this planet, I suggest that each and every Monday be dedicated to directing light and love to a designated entity, and that we keep up the effort for at least a month. Beginning next Monday, May 1st, let us send light and love and healing energy to Iraq, her people, and to the people of all nations who are involved in the war. When the May Prayer and Healing thread is posted, I will post a note reminding those who are interested to "pour it on." If anyone has other ideas, please share.

67. I love it! Fantastic. Thank you, Japple!
I like it being the whole day, that way everyone, even people who work odd hours can participate.

And is your idea that the designated entity change each month???

I really like the energy going to the Iraqi people this month, they are in my thoughts always, especially the women and children as I have mentioned. And also any one whose life is at stake in the war.

Perhaps one month we could do anyone who has stood up and spoken out with bravery and wisdom against the war and the BushCo regime? Who is doing the right thing? Like Cindy S, Fitz, the retired generals, etc. And energy to those so inclined to gather the courage to speak out.

And then one month the American people so that they will get wisdom, courage and independent thinking?

Just ideas.....

68. I was thinking about maybe changing the focus each week.
Maybe we could all make an effort to really concentrate our prayers/energy/healing projection to the "target" on Mondays, and then for the rest of the week to the others who have made requests on the thread.

There is so much to think about, and so much healing energy is needed for our mother earth.

69. Oh that is good, a weekly format.....right now there are so many hot spots
it is hard to pick one, and we may need to shift our energies from week to week given the crisis atmosphere we are in with BushCo in charge!

70. I want to be sensitive to those not fond of prayer, some more comfortable
with a separate spiritual activism manifestation thread?

Just an idea, prayer might not be everyone's cup of tea.
Which is fine. We could do it more as a manifestation thread,
if that would feel better to everyone??

The power is greater the larger the number of people manifesting, so what
ever the majority is most comfortable with is best I think...

We could still duplicate it on the prayer thread too.
The more the better.....

71. I am in need of some love
I am on the threshold of what is probably the biggest transition of my life. I am moving from the only home I've ever known in NYC to the Phoenix area on Sunday to be with my friends and partner. It is a huge step for me, and I am walking in faith because my goddess has shown me so many signs that this is what I need to do in order to get out of the bogged down stasis I have been in and grow spiritually. I have received some truth that I need to walk a healer's path and being out there is what needs to happen. But I am scared, financially (I have a potential job at a metaphysical shop lined up but it is not set in stone), being in a new environment that is a lot different from what I'm used to. This move has been very stressful and I'm not getting too much support, moral or otherwise from my family (who are diametrically opposed to everything I am as a person).

Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers.

72. Much energy and love to you, Chovexani.
Doing what you're doing takes real courage. I ask that the Universe allow you to feel peace in reference to your move and to take away the fear that is causing much of your agitation and stress. (This or something better for the highest good of all involved.)

73. Sending you healing light and love, Chovexani. You are really
taking a huge leap, here, and I admire your courage and faith. You are wise to follow your chosen path, even though right now it seems steep and rocky. It's tough to leave your family behind, but they are resistant to change. Let the universe give you what you need. Blessings and peace to you and in your new life. Let the adventure begin!!!!

75. Closing thoughts for the April thread
I ask that all of those who have posted requests on this month's thread continue to receive love and light and guidance. May we all learn to love and honor ourselves and one another. May peace prevail in our hearts and in our world and may comfort and grace be woven throughout our lives.

Peace, Peace. Peace

Let there be peace on earth,
and let it begin with me.
Let there be peace on Earth,
the peace that was meant to be.

With God as our Father,
brothers all are we,
Let me walk with my brother,
in perfect harmony.

Let peace begin with me,
let this be the moment now.
With every step I take,
let this be my solemn vow,

To take each moment and live each moment
in peace, eternally.
Let there be Peace on Earth,
and let it begin with me.
:hug: :loveya: to everyone!

I have a dream will now maintain the May thread. :)
