help me understand these intuitive feelings I 've been having
...an odor,a song,or sometimes not, will trigger an"episode" where I get chills and a "deja vu" type feeling. They literally stop me in my tracks for a brief moment.I haven't been able to associate them with anything. They seem to be happening for a week or two every month.Any ideas, and(hopefully) any resources you can refer me to?I haven't told anyone, because i'm afraid they'll think I'm nuts..

1. Sounds as though your intuition is
becoming more activated.

It probably would show up in your chart as either a Uranus or Neptune transit or perhaps a progression involving Mercury or the Moon in a water sign as all of those influences highten one's intuition.

Do you meditate at all? It might help smooth out the process and lend towards a more graceful integration for you.

As to assorted nuttiness. . .one of my favorite all time quotations is
"insanity is a sane result to an insane world."

You're not nuts. Most folks are operating at less than 10% of their abilities is all.

3. ooooooo
Trust yourself first and learn to differentiate between your intuition and random fear.

That can be tricky. I'll elucidate more when I get a chance I'm sorta on the fly on someone else's computer right now.

Perhaps some others will chime in soon as well.

4. Exactly what Stella said
sometimes it's no fun. If you are not anxious or upset the things you start to "get" are more likely to be correct. It's a process for most of us. Just start paying attention and then go from there.

What smell brought up what feeling if you don't mind my asking?

5. an air freshener at my gym-it happens every time I go
a floral-type scent-very unique-causes this same woozy,"out of body"-almost,feeling.I can't tell you whether it makes me afraid,or whatever-it could be the unknown sensation scared me.My mind races.Sometimes,though-it will happen when I am not there,I will simply have the "feeling" of the smell..if that makes any sense at all.A dream of sorts will race through my head, but I never can remember it.

7. This sounds more like deja vu or past life memory stuff
Edited on Thu May-04-06 03:55 PM by OhioBlues
I wouldn't say positively, but many people start to remember things they never did in this lifetime and it's brought on by a smell. It could also be from an unpleasant early childhood memory that has been tucked away for a long time.

Something is definitely trying to surface in your consciousness. Try not to freak out when it happens, it's a normal process for many of us. You're safe, whatever the "dream" turns out to be about, just remember this is now it was possibly from some other time. If you can relax you may be able to hold on to the thoughts/dream. It will be ok.

9. I studied with a teacher in Denver
and I read many books. There is a book thread here about past lives and some of the information pertaining to that type of thing, http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=245&topic_id=18569&mesg_id=18569

Also, just be open, things have a way of just showing up in your life that you need to know about. I would recommend you just put away fear and fly, do what you are here to do, be open and grateful and you will have everything you need. Visit bookstores and stick around here now and again and finally, take what information you want and just leave what doesn't resonate. Don't let anyones opinion make you feel less than who you are. After all we are all in this together.

More people read this at night and you will find that each person here will give you what they know about and help you to get the resources you need.

Go to the bookstore and poke around and find something that you want to know about and start there, one resource leads to another. We also have several astrologers who do brilliant work that I find incredible. I believe Cassiepriam it very knowledgeable about past life or karmic astrology and several others who talk about a foot over my head but are always willing to help me understand. Ask anyone here and they will help you to the best of their abilities.

11. an odor followed by chills
that happened to me when I had a run with a ghost, it was not a pleasant experience so I
had a priest come and bless the place. He had me put up blessed crucifixes which helped.

Good Luck to you.

10. Stay calm, many of us feel crazy when this starts happening.....
Edited on Thu May-04-06 05:29 PM by cassiepriam
I agree with what the other posters are saying! Stay calm, don't panic.

Several ideas I have:

If you can remain calm during an episode, pay attention to what you are picking up. Visual, auditory, emotional, etc. Then you can start tracking what you are getting and what the triggers etc. And begin to make sense of it all.

If there is a respected psychic or astrologer near you, you might want to get a reading and see if you can get info about what is happening.

It is not unusual for psychic gifts to occur mid life, it has to do with chakra development and planetary energy in the progressed chart.

Also since these episodes are happening once or twice a month I am wondering if there is a hormonal component to all of this? Just wondering.

There are so many books out there that you could read, hard to know where to start in terms of recommendations. I suggest you go to a book store, Barnes and Nobles or something like that, and go to the psychic/astrology/spiritual section and start browsing. Look at the books and pick out some that resonate with you. If you get stuck and can't find anything I can give you specific titles....

Good luck and stay calm! You will be OK!

Oh yes, meditation is really important!

14. Yes. Meditation and books are important tools I found helped me...
in developing my intuitive skills - learning to be aware of it all and to trust it.

In the early days, especially, I would walk into an unfamiliar bookstore and walk right over to a book as if something was pulling me to it. Those books were my strongest aids in learning about myself and my intuition/ESP....

12. thankfully others have chimed in
I think if you're overly reactive to olfactory stimuli you might want to consider checking out aromatherapy. It's very effusive and delightfully intoxicating.

Just relax and we will support you in any way we can.

What you are describing is not out of the realm of most of some of our experiences.

Just keep talking. I'll post again when I haven't had such a long day.

best,

15. Smell can trigger some real intense stuff.
I appreciate how freaked out you probably have been with this. Some of my most overwhelming memories are associated with a smell, rather than words, songs or even images.

Question for you, w8liftinglady when you remember stuff from your current life, do you associate smells with it?

For instance, when I got my first bra, the sales lady was wearing violet perfume...

I associate the smell of Lilacs with my childhood and with the wind blowing up a storm and belling mom's white sheer curtains out...

Those are random memories of my life, but they are triggered and associated with smells.

There is a technique they use in theater that they use to train actors in sensory recall (to make them more realistic.) In that techniques, they ask you to put yourself in a situation where you felt (insert emotion here.) They will then ask you a series of questions about where are you, what are you seeing, what are you hearing, what are you smelling...

It can get pretty intense sometimes in those exercises. You may want to consider trying that same sort of thing with somebody to guide you thru it--somebody you have an emotional trust with. If you can tap into that smell you describe, and take it the rest of the way, you may be able to ID why it makes you feel the way you do.

If you are just starting down the path of exploring your senses and sensibilities, it can feel really weird. Don't let that get to you. From the time we are toddlers we are taught NOT to "see" things, we are taught it is only our imagination, we are told it was a bad dream.

Well, sometimes it isn't a dream, and you are NOT making it up--you KNOW that. You are starting to question what you have always thought to be true, and that is a creepy place to be emotionally.

Think on this, current brain theory is that we can only account for about one third of our brain tissue and what it is actually used for (sight, auditory function, taste, sensation, higher thinking--that kind of stuff.) If they only can ID the use of about a third of what we have, then there is a really good possibility that they are gonna find that there are abilities that we are not using and not aware of.

I think some of the folks on here are probably using some areas of the brain that the rest of the world has either never bothered to develop or else has turned off.

Good luck, and we'll be here to support you.

16. Yes, I recognize this.
I would get these "episodes"; they would come in clusters, like maybe 1 per day for a week, and then they'd be gone. Maybe 5 years later, they would be back. They weren't necessarily triggered by anything, like a certain smell or driving past a place where I've been before. It's like it just comes unannounced.

It kind of takes you by surprise. You almost feel dizzy, but not really. When I paid attention, it almost felt like my brain was doing a mega-power-surge where it was searching for something, or reaching back in time (?). Or maybe trying to connect something from the past with the present.

Weird, whatever it is. I'm never afraid of these "surges". I just look at it as an opportunity to find out something new about myself. We all have an inner "us" that is in fact apart from us, and is just biding its time with us here on this sojourn.

18. These are either the beings that work with you giving you information
or it's reflections of aspects of yourself projected in the world so you can access them and see how they apply to you/ how you can apply them. People have rightly suggested that you use sensory triggers. These will work through any of the senses.

19. I would jot down the details of the deja vu, if only
in your thoughts.

We here did a book read of a book called "Journey of Souls", by Michael Newton, PhD. He is a hypnotherapist by profession, and in his discoveries of "life between life" sessions with many clients, he talks about people reporting that before a soul reincarnates, everything is carefully planned. You have an entire support group helping you prepare for your life on Earth, some of whom reincarnate with you. Part of the planning also involves a review of possibilities, almost like watching a film, they say.

If he is correct, I tend to believe, that you are remembering the possibilities of your choices -maybe the "film' you saw. Now, the important part of this is figuring out if you believe whether the path or choice you made that brought you to that exact scene is what you wanted. And even if it was not your first choice or best choice, it is still ok - you probably experienced the lesson you wanted.
Now, you also have the power and chance to decipher the connections to your souls wants and needs.

So, according to Dr. Newton, I bet you he'd say you are certified - not nuts.

:hi:

21. You're doing fine whether you know it or not.
Glad that you seem to feel more supported. That's what it's all about.

Sandalwood. . .hmmmm. . .yup I like that stuff but am also hooked on lavender, sage, and Shiva's triumph incense. That's just me.

Though at this point, I have to special order the incense. Sheesh. Weird times. Probably has me on an NSA list or something. Half kidding.

Vibrational changes are not always easy and graceful. We've got your back.
