I watched Contact when it first came out, and I was really disappointed. It came out a year after my husband had died, and, I was still searching for answers to my many questions about life after death, etc. I think I was not in any state of mind to really understand this movie.
I watched it today, and I was struck by how it resonated with me. One paraphrased quote: "The universe is so umimaginably large, if we were the only inhabitants of it, how lonely we would be.".
IMHO, this movie was very spiritual -- something I did not pick up in 1997.
I am so glad I watched it today.
Interesting sidenote:
I have had Comcast for all my internet and high speed needs for two years, and, I have been particularly dissatisfied with the high speed performance.
I finally called a sales person in order to cancel my account last Sunday, and, after voicing my concerns, not only did I receive 1/2 price on my high speed for the next 6 mos, I also got HBO for free (I had not subscribed to any of the movie channels through cable) indefinitely.
This "deal" prompted me to watch HBO today, and the movie I decided to watch was Contact.
Anyone think that guides sometimes work overtime?

I have been directed many times to view films that I have seen before and have had the same experience. Enjoy the connection with your higher self when it comes. I always enjoyed the debate the main characters had on the balcony about the existence of God. Especially when the male character says, "Your father, did you love him?" And Jody Foster's character answers, "Yes, very much." To which Matthew's characters says, "Prove it." I always felt that summed the arguement up nicely.
Peace

I am planning on being more open to movie suggestions in the future when I "hear" them!
Thanks!
