I have been named 'Dude of the Year' by Planet Waves
This came across the email wires today, in Eric Francis's Planet Waves astrology newsletter:

Dude of the Year

I nominate William Rivers Pitt, editor and lead guitarist of http://truthout.org, as Planet Waves dude of the year, an honor we have bestowed annually since 1741. Will Pitt has shown his steadfast devotion to the cause of accurate, cards-up, no bullshit, write-till-you-drop journalism; and to ingenious, low-budget, highly effective public service work through his daily web project, which gathers up the days' most relevant news stories and archives them. His own essays, published several times a week, cut to the core of the issues he touches. He is afraid of neither lies nor truth. He manages to write bestselling books at the same time, and I hear is (or at least was) a high school writing teacher. He covered the Democratic and Republican national conventions personally, blogging and doing daily video reports, with full press credentials inside the conventions and on the streets at the protests. He likes to quote the bartender at the Boston pub where he seems to eat a lot of meatloaf. We also credit him for being adorable and friendly, and for his excellent and somehow reassuring nightly audio reports. William Rivers Pitt, you're an inspiration, a gentleman, a scholar and a subversive from the heart and to the bones.

Congratulations, Will! You're Dude of the Year all over the place, whether you know it or not!

Post your date, time, and place of birth for us, and we'll put your chart up! It's a hobby of ours here, charting famous people!

BTW, before I read your post, I put up a new thread with an analysis of the Christmas Tsunami that Eric Francis wrote. You might enjoy it! Is he a bud of yours? How does he know about the meatloaf?

:silly::hi: Welcome to the Astrology threads! :hi::toast::beer:

8. Hey Dude. . .
can you do any better on the birth time in terms of exactitude?

Though one out of every 60 people technically are born on the exact hour, we astro heads tend to be more than a little suspicious of "on the hour" birth times.

The earth spins 1 degree every four minutes. So pardon us for being particular (aka anal). If you haven't any more info don't sweat it.

We astrologers who believe that between the first and second decant of Capricorn is a damned foolish time to celebrate a New Year will probably more than likely, dissect your personality and fortunes anyhow.

Don't worry this won't be painful. Just set your BS detector to maximum stun.

There once was a very funny astrologer from Detroit. He said, "some astrologers will never give you their birth data because they're afraid people will go and do magic on them. Well, here's my birth time and I'd love it if you all went home and did great magic on me."

So look forward to some phenomenal magic. Oh joy !

9. My mom told me 1pm
but you can probably stretch it to 1:05. She wasn't really paying attention to her watch at that point. ;)

16. Yeah. . .labor truly
generally does not compel one to watch their watch obsessively .

That's why me and my ex had the modem hooked up to the atomic clock in Baltimore during my son's birth. I've got seconds on that kid.

We'll figure it out and see the post below because we can probably fine tune your birthtime by zeroing in on your last major breakup. If you are so inclined to reveal such info.

Otherwise, we'll get it over time. We'll just clock your more obtuse posts to the second and figure it out.

Happy new year to some.

11. Whew! Powerful chart you have there, sir!
You and I share some commonality with certain difficulties in our earlier years...our early home life. Sorry 'bout that part.

Your star is definitely rising, my friend. Keep up the good work!

Seeing that illuminated Scorpio Sun shining down from the 9th house helps me to understand better your determination to catch the bad guys, and that highly auspicious progression of Sun/Mercury/Jupiter, trotting through your house of career, has definitely helped to kick your profile into the mainstream.

Many of your dreams WILL be realized within these next few years, and it looks like you'll have plenty of good times along the way, to help balance life's difficulties.

Kewl!! :hi:

There are lots of professional astrologers here that will weigh in soon, I'm sure....it is mostly an avocation for me these last 8 years.

12. Well the conjunction by progression
of the Sun to Mercury has already occurred. Mercury is retrograding by progression. That might be why his writing consistantly cuts to the quick and is of unusual insight and depth.

I think it's more than likely indicative of his breakthrough in exposure and influence over the last year. I'll have to check my ephemeris to see when both those conjunctions occurred and when the progressed Mercury retro will hit the progressed Jupiter. But I have to do some errands now.

The other thing that's interesting is that the progressed Moon hit Uranus 8 months ago. The timing of this transit would hone the birthtime and was probably both harrowing and enlightening in terms of relationship stuff.

He'll more than likely go through a major emotional shift in just shy of five months with a life changing integration in 22 months and change.

More later. . .

Good for You and Congrats, Will.... The "Dastardly Pirate of DU..."

Wow! and thanks to Admins forkeeping the Astrology Forum going all this time in spite of those who thought it made DU less credible...

Now...Will... this is the best award! This one when you look back should mean more to you than the "Blogosphere Award of 2004" or the "AMVETS/Swift Boat's Vet's Award of 2001-2004" or the "CNN/MSNBC/Daily Kos/SALON" Award of the Year..

Maybe that "Spiritual Side" has a bigger audience than you would have thought! There's audience in those "Astrologer/Spiritualists" sites. Underneath it all you are a truffle.

You've struck "a bell"...that calls many to believe in "Tink!"

(I don't have a brick or chunk of cement in my back pocket, here...:D )

And 's to you! Plus Kudo's even though I know you are a "dastardly person" in your black heart...;-)'s
