I want to share with you my dream house:

Price: $875,000
Square Feet: Approx. 4,560
Lot Size: 23 acres

-Built in 1897 overlooking the Haw River, this property includes 23 acres.
-Property includes separate servants cottage and several outbuildings needing restoration.
-This property is habitable, but would greatly benefit from a full restoration.
-Interior millwork still remains, i.e. doors, mantels, trim, flooring.
-Currently listed on the National Register, it is eligible for rehabilitation tax credits.

Can you imagine? I just wanted to put it up, it's so beautiful. An oasis; I think.
Someday, if the time is right.......

1. Ooooo... great house!
It looks as though it's a house with a past. Maybe there are even some otherworldly visitors. (I always think of this when I see beautiful old houses.)

I hope that someday this dream comes true for you, lildreamer!

2. I grew up less than a mile from that house.
That's the old Teague house. It sits right off of HWY 49. There's quite a few beauties like that all through Alamance County.

It just occured to me that I probably shouldn't put the directions to someone's house on the net. So I'm PMing the directions to you.

7. It's in Haw River, North Carolina.

It's an old mill town right in between Durham and Greensboro on I-85.

9. A turret!
Or a round-ish room...I've always wanted one of those!

That's a gorgeous house--good call! I would take one like that as well!

Hey, speaking of turrets, I have a question that's been plaguing me for, like, most of my life--when I was a young 'un, I read a "young adult" novel about a girl who went on summer vacation with her family and, since she was a teenager, was of course bored out of her mind. They rented a tumbledown old Victorian house. And one day the girl found a book of shadows in the house and started doing the spells in it, and they worked. A turret room figured into the story, I believe.

Does ANYbody know what that book is (was)? I would love to find it again, but I can't remember the title or the author or anything (heck, I was 11, and I read tons of books--plus it was a library book--I never saw it again...)

13. ...Why didn't I think of that?
All the hours I spend on the Internets and it never occurred to me to search for it? D'oh!

Anyway, I FOUND IT. THANK YOU for the great idea! I found it on another book search site (Loganberry Books) and I just bought a used copy from Amazon! Oh frabjous day! Calloo! Callay!

BTW, it's called The Active-Enzyme, Lemon-Freshened, Junior High School Witch, by Wallace Hildick. And I read in a comment on Amazon that the book she finds is a real book about witchcraft--Paul Hillson's Mastering Witchcraft. Now that's funny!

I am so excited! (Can you tell?) It's going to be fascinating reading this from my point of view now--a witch of a dozen years or so.

THANKS AGAIN!
